I might be able to join you halfway through. Hopefully. That would be fun.
I think I’ll get a head start on my 2,000 words now… (12):14.

October 22, 2025 at 1:56 pm #208021Cool! I think it would be fun to have zoom calls where we have writing sessions. I don’t know how practical that would be.
What scene/s are you working on now?

October 22, 2025 at 2:11 pm #208022I may join you this evening to write the poetry I’ve been procrastinating. It depends on whether I decide to procrastinate further.
?For our Blessed Lady's sake, bring us in good ale!?
October 22, 2025 at 2:38 pm #208023That would be really fun! We should do it. It wouldn’t be unpractical, and might help a lot with writers block etc.
In my outline, I marked this section as “harvest.” It’s them working on the farm… although nothing seems to be happening, so I’m trying to figure how to move the plot along.
Also researching about using goats in crop rotation. XD And finding out that I might be treating their goats like sheep, which could cause issues with parasites apparently. I gave them what I understood to be a common medieval/ancient farming technique, plant a field and let one rest fallow, alternating by the year. The animals are supposed to graze in the fallow field, which was supposed to restore nutrients to the soil while maintaining weed growth… Not culture diseases! The biome on the Island is like Washington State, or Ireland, so very wet, which is apparently not a healthy habitat for goats?? I could have them let their herd run wild in the forest, but that sounds incredibly irresponsible.
Yartass does have a native sheep breed that’s based off what the Vikings raised. An independent, self-shearing breed that you literally just pull the wool off. (Very different from the breeds kept in Eirtan, which have a finer wool but are incredibly dependent on their shepherds.) I could give them these sheep instead, but I’ve kinda grown attached to these goats… Anyway, if anyone has tips on maintaining a farm, I would appreciate it.

October 22, 2025 at 3:28 pm #208026Ok! Procrastination, begone. *Thrusts a fancy staff against your writing path* You must let Ducktator pass!
We should do it.
I don’t actually know how to orchestrate a zoom call. But Hybrid has organized a couple of them and she already has the email addresses.
@hybridlore What do you think of this?although nothing seems to be happening, so I’m trying to figure how to move the plot along.
Maybe make up an emotional conflict to move that section of the plot along? I’ve had the same problem before, and usually adding an extra layer of emotion helps.

This is your fantasy world. You could tweak enough things to explain the problem away. Ideas:
– Like mountain goats, there’s a type of goat that lives in that biome. (This might not work because many of their features might have to be changed. Depends on the features in question.)
– Goats were transported here from their original home and farmers are beginning to regret them because of the problems – OR they have sufficient agricultural technology to deal with those problems.
I don’t know enough about goats…
Anyway, if anyone has tips on maintaining a farm, I would appreciate it.
My mom was a farm girl. She shaved llamas when she was my age. She’s got experience with animals. I can ask her questions about farming if you’re unsure about something.

October 22, 2025 at 3:30 pm #208027I can send y’all an email to connect the emails if you guys don’t have them already! We usually just use Google Meet, create a meeting, and then send the link out through email.

October 22, 2025 at 3:33 pm #208028Ok, I’m good with that! (I’ve never messed with Google Meet.) Maybe I’ll tag a few more people and shoot some dates around.

October 22, 2025 at 3:34 pm #208029Oh, hah, I thought you were talking about during tonight’s sprint. Yeah, writing sessions would be fun!

October 22, 2025 at 3:47 pm #208031I can kinda work Zoom, as can my sister. It’s a link you share, sometimes with a passkey. Google Meet works too, especially since Hybrid has those emails. I think it also doesn’t have a time limit, but I may be wrong there. I can also do Microsoft Teams, but that’s a more grown-up/school/work thing, so probably not super useful around here.
Thanks for the advice! *muttters emotion, emooootiooon*
Right. I have the power to kill all ground-dwelling parasites and send my goat kiddos into the fields willy nilly! Bwahahaha! XD
They’ll probably have some system of sectioning off parts of the field if just to make the animals graze the ground more evenly. Viktor might also get sent out with them once a week to let them browse in the woods… Cause that gives me a great excuse to bring him near the smugglers that hide there. *author cackling*
Yeah, I don’t know enough about goats either. XD I’ll probably take you up on your offer and shoot you some questions for your mom. Just gotta define what I’m looking at a little better. Llamas are neat.

See? Break from the bonds of realism, Elishavet!!

O.O You’re not going to get him in too much trouble, are you?
Llamas are neat.
Did you edit your reply just to put this in? ? I try to guess why people edit their posts, and the idea of this being the edit made me cackle.

October 22, 2025 at 9:27 pm #208037I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do this. I have a couple chores, and I need to go to bed in decent time because Homeschool Homecoming is tomorrow.

October 22, 2025 at 9:59 pm #208038I’m going to go to bed soon. I’ll write the poetry on Friday, probably.

October 22, 2025 at 10:06 pm #208040@theducktator No problem! I like noting my progress, so this might become a regular thing anyway. And it is important to get sleep for Homecoming. I approve.
