Hey! Our could snap just ended up here in Canada, We are finally in plus temperatures, and there’s hope that spring exsists! I don’t need 10 snowballs being hurled at me!
But I guess I can’t argue with being hit.
Currently working on outlining my second book right now. I will let you know when I’ve met the quota.
Sometimes it is necessary to paint the sky black in order to see the stars.
February 25, 2025 at 10:42 am #198424Yay for spring and positive temperatures! But I’m sure somewhere in Canada there’s still snow on the ground. 😉
Outlining, fun. Or not fun. I hope it goes well.

February 26, 2025 at 10:00 am #198513@hybridlore FINALLY!!!!!!! The next and last part of -Snowballs- is here! Thanks for reminding this procrastinating person.
Anyway…I am planning to write a sequel…just because Dale has had such a hard time! (I feel so bad for him…poor boy) So, I’m hoping to write another story where he’s recovered from his trauma and is having a good time…(at least not such a bad time as this story shows…)
“Will someone please tell me WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON HERE!!!”
A look of guilt shot through Liberty’s face. After assisting Red Plaid up from her bench, she crossed over to Dale.
“Sorry…I guess we should have given you a proper introduction.”
“You guess?!” Dale cried dubiously.
Liberty nodded, then suddenly dodged to the side to escape an oncoming snowball. Dale didn’t budge, but simply stared at her, his eyes still dark with frustration.
Once in the clear, she turned back to Dale. “This is recess time,” she explained, spreading her hands around. “But, here at Kingdom Pen, we’re expected to use our recess time usefully.”
Dale couldn’t help but shoot up an eyebrow.
Liberty laughed and came to stand next to him. Looking at his angry face, she said, “Our teachers are taking a break right now, but they’ll be back pretty soon to call us in. Studying at desks for some hours is quite tedious and taxing on our health. So, they allow us to come outside every two hours.”
Dale gawked. “Every two hours?”
Now it was her turn to raise an eyebrow. “Is that weird?”
“I would think you all would study a bit more.”
“Well, that’s why we use our recess time productively. Besides, sitting at desks for hours on end is not good for you. Our bodies need to more often to be healthy.”
Dale scrutinized the courtyard of hollering teens. “It doesn’t look very productive to me.”
Liberty grinned. “Well, it is. With every snowball that you get hit with, you have to write fifty words. But you also get to throw two snowballs at other people as well…which…is a lot of fun.” Her face beamed with the glorious memories of pelting other students. She blinked once, then returned to her dialogue.
“We keep track of our snowballs, and when recess time is over, we all sit at our desks and write our words. Don’t worry, though,” she added, catching Dale’s concerned gaze, “we only do this when the snow’s around. During the summer, we have other games and exercises.”
“Liberty!” A girl yelled from a far corner.
Liberty glanced at Dale. “I’ve got to go. Did that make any sense?”
He nodded stiffly, his mind occupied with his thoughts. I wonder if coming to this academy was a good idea…but then why do some of the world’s greatest authors come from here?
“It was nice talking to you,” the girl went on. “Don’t you want to join us? It’s a blast, and you’ll regret not being snowballed by the time we go inside to write.”
Uh, no thank you, he thought. Dale took a step back towards the crystal white doors. Abruptly turning, he faced Liberty.
“I don’t think so. Thanks anyway, though, for explaining this to me, but I think I’ll go find the teachers now.”
Liberty opened her mouth to speak, but a sudden interruption broke her words off.
Whizz!
A blurry object hurtled between them. And smashed. Into Dale’s face.
What.
In.
The.
World.
Dale stumbled. He fell. Soaking cold seeping into his skin, sending shivers up and down his spine. It threatened to freeze his blood flow. With a sudden gasp, his hands flew to his face. Heat rushed back into his bloodstream as he frantically scratched at his face, sweeping snow off by the handful.
How big is this ball????!!!! It seemed an eternity to get through the snow piled onto his face. Whoever threw that ball was going to pay for it.
Finally, he could see and breathe again. Quick rapid gasps jerked in and out of his lungs as he staggered to his feet.
Liberty was still there, looking at him with a somewhat sympathetic and yet joyous face.
“You see?” She grinned. “It’s awesome, right?”
Dale turned towards her, his mouth opening to blast out his rage.
Before he could make a sound—
WHAM!
In the face. Again.
Dale fairly screamed against the injustice happening to him as his ribs crunched into the snowy floor. He felt smothered under all the snow. Who in the world could throw that hard?
Why, oh why! Did I ever come here?!!
“Oof,” came Liberty’s voice. It sounded a bit muffled and estranged under all the snow coating his ears.
“Well,” she said as she helped Dale up after he’d cleared his face. “It looks like you’ve joined us now.”
Dale didn’t have time to reply. A hurtling ball sped through the air and slammed into his face.
Not again.
The End
And now!!! *drumroll* The very fortunate people who are chosen to be snowballed by me like poor Dale…

February 26, 2025 at 10:54 am #198532So, the website isn’t loading for me. But I know they send out a video with help to figure out how to navigate stuff. I know it’s super overwhelming the first day, but you’ll figure it out in no time.
