In my defense, it looks more like a snowball on the computer. 😅 But yeah, I was too lazy to scroll through them all and I saw a round, light object… 🤪

First off…are the ingredients supposed to be fictional? (that’s what I understood from your post!)

                    So, clarification.

Are your characters the fictional ones…or the sandwich ingredients???

The sandwiches. I haven’t invented any fantasy food besides laka, which is some sort of fish.

@hybridlore Here is the next installment of Dale’s story…

                        …and everyone else who shows up in this part in some little way…@ellette-giselle @theshadow @elishavet-pidyon @koshka @hybridlore @raxforge @freed_and_redeemed @esther-c @power @loopylin @rae @the_lost-journal

I’m serious. Everyone shows up in this story at least once. *grin* read on. After this scene, there will be one more…then…the end.

Dale gasped and ducked down. Something hurtled over his bowed head and collided into the doors behind him.

                        Splat!

The ground underneath him suddenly shifted and he went tumbling down. His face hit front first. Cold…wet… Dale lifted his face, sputtering. It was snow.

He suddenly heard loud crunching footsteps running towards him. He looked up to see a girl dashing over, her black braid flying from side to side, her navy blue coat painted with snow.

“Sorry about that! I was aiming for someone else.”

In a somewhat daze, Dale got to his feet, his cheeks strangely red-hot. He looked around himself. He was in another open courtyard much alike to the one at the front of the castle. There was a heaping amount of snow in this one compared to the other. The strangest sight to him, however, were all the young people laughing, running about, and shooting snowballs at each other.

This only gets weirder and weirder.

                        “My name’s Liberty.”

Dale whipped his head around to face the black-haired girl. She had her hand stretched out to him in a friendly gesture.

“Oh, sorry.” Brushing off some more snow off his right arm, he took her hand and gave it a shake.

She must have noticed his bewildered and somewhat dumbfounded look and grinned.

“Are you the new student we heard about?”

Again, Dale yanked his gaze back to her. “What?”

                        “Dale Sommers…right?”

“Oh, yes. I am Dale Sommers. I just arrived some…twenty minutes ago.” He gazed around the spacious courtyard, noticing and capturing down the faces of the other “students”. They all looked young, and he couldn’t find anyone who looked to be like a teacher.

“Um, what exactly are you all doing?”

“Snowball fighting!” Liberty responded exuberantly. “Which reminds me…I still have two balls…I have to go, but I’ll be back soon! This session’s almost over, anyway.”

Before Dale could say anything, she scooped a handful of snow and dashed off. He gazed around himself again in stunned amazement.

Shrieks, laughs, yells, and screams continuously filled the air.

                        “Shoot!”

                        “Aaah! Snowball!”

                        “SNOWBALL!!!!”

                        “How. Dare. You!”

                        “I’m hit!”

                        “Eeeeeeeeee!!”

                        “GAHHHHH.”

                        “MWA HA HA HA HA.”

                        “Now, SNOWBALLS!!!!!”

                        “Oh…you nasty person!”

                        “SNOWBALLSSSSS!!!”

                        “REVENGE!”

“I HAD NO INVOLVEMENT IN THIS FIGHT!!!”

                        Waammmm…

It was deafening. It was ear-splitting. It was mayhem.

He watched as another female student with fair hair, about eighteen years of age, slammed a teenage boy with a faceball.

                        Ow. He inwardly thought.

The blow fairly knocked the boy onto his back. With surprising agility, he leaped up onto his feet and began scrubbing the snowpack off his face.

As soon as his mouth was clear, though the rest of his face wasn’t, the boy snarled out, “How darest thou insult our fuzzy black personage by pelting our pelt with white cloud dust!?”

In response, the golden-haired girl hefted up another snowball warningly, a fiery smile splayed on her lips.

“You will be pelted again unless you write your 100 words.”

A heap of indistinguishable cat noises erupted from the snowballed boy.

Dale took a note of this exchange between the two, dubbing the girl Spunkie, and the boy Loud Cougar.

Other scenes like this were happening all over the courtyard. People were dashing to and fro between the tall columns that bordered the courtyard. Some were packing heaps of snowballs, others were charging towards their targets, while still others were recovering from brutal attacks.

It was utter mayhem, but Dale actually found himself enjoying it. He felt as if he was watching an immensely amusing TV show.

One girl, however, was not in the fight. Sitting on a stone bench to the left side, she mindlessly turned the pages in a thick volume she held on her lap. Her red plaid stood out in stark contrast with the white snow. She sat not that far from Dale, though he hadn’t noticed her until then because she was quite quiet and everyone else was loud and fast.

Peering in her direction, his eye snagged the book’s title. Is that…a Diccionario de la lengua española?

                        “Write or die!!!!!!”

An echoing war cry blasted above all the other yells and shouts.

A blurring snowball hurtled past Dale and clodded into the girl’s face.

He gasped in horror as the girl doubled over, coughing and sputtering.

Who in the world would dare bother the one student who was actually studying?! Doing what all the others should have been doing?!

The words blurted out of Dale’s mouth before he could think a thought.

                        “Who dared throw that??!!”

A girl trotted up to Red Plaid, who was still coughing. It was Liberty.

“You okay, Elle?” she asked, offering her hand.

“Yeah,” the girl in the red plaid replied, brushing off the last of the snow to reveal a beaming smile. “I was being perfectly responsible and doing homework, and you’ve just lured me from my duty.” She spoke seriously, trying to be annoyed, but her grinning face declared her failure.

Liberty shrugged. “Well, you don’t have to join just now…”

She turned slightly and caught Dale’s stormy glare.

His normally gray eyes were now a blackish blue.

“Will someone please tell me WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON HERE!!!”
