December 30, 2023 at 9:08 pm #171859I love the YouVersion app, I’ve seen some of the plans on there and they’re super cool. A lot of the ones that are for a year say to read about four chapters a day. I think our plan is to try and read through the Bible, maybe 1-2 chapters a day? Though it’ll definitely take longer than a year. (If everyone’s okay with that.)
Hi! Okay! We’ll be starting on the first chapter of Genesis on New Years Day.

December 31, 2023 at 5:14 pm #171941I probably won’t be joining in, because I can’t really commit to it long-term at this point (bc I have plans to do a missions program later this year and who knows where God will lead me after that), but I might hop in and join discussions from time to time.

So what are you guys thinking? Should we go by week, or day? A certain amount each week might be easier cause then it’s not a big deal if you skip a day, but we can always do, like, 1-2 chapters each day… Also, we can always just decide to go at our own paces, so whatever works!

January 1, 2024 at 10:35 am #172017Also, it extremely depends on the book that we’re in XD. Because Genesis chapter can be really long, and others are like SUPER short.
I did some calculating, and it looks like a little over 3 chapters a day would get us to finish at the end of 2024. So we could always try that, or go for more vague goal like twenty chapters a week.

Honestly, I’m good with anything. I think the three chapters a day sounds like a good idea, though.

January 1, 2024 at 12:05 pm #172023I’m fine with what everyone else wants to do! Three chapters a day sounds good to me, but if that be too much for people’s schedules we could do one or two chapters instead

January 1, 2024 at 1:11 pm #172027Alright, I guess we’ll see what beth says, but I’m fine with trying three chapters a day!

Hey this looks like fun! Can I join? And what was the final verdict, three chapters a day on which days?

I think that giving a chapter count for the week might be better, so if you miss a day you don’t have to read a ton the next. I know from experience that if I have to read a lot of chapters, I start just kinda glancing over it and not really paying attention to what it’s saying, if you know what I mean. 😅

I’m so sorry, I promise I didn’t mean to just vanish from the conversation for the day.
Three sounds like a good idea. Do you all think it’d be okay to read 3 every day of the week?
I think we might have to change it up a bit when we get to Exodus and Leviticus. Some of those chapters are packed with so much information that I can’t focus on all of it.
We can just go with 3 chapters every day this week, then this weekend, decide if it actually works. We can point out any adjustments we need to make, or say we agree that we can keep it the way it is for now.
Does that sound okay to everyone?

January 1, 2024 at 4:42 pm #172068Of course you can join! I think that’s what we’re doing, everyday. Some days we might have to switch it up, but that’s what we’re doing for now.
(As long as everyone’s good with that still)
