I'm a Kapeefer 'TIL WE'RE OLD AND GREY!
www.jennaterese.comMarch 20, 2018 at 1:00 pm #67683Hi everyone, I have a prayer request.
My family has adopted several kids in the past, and we are in the process of adopting again. We were matched with some kids several months ago, and we did all the paperwork and everything, and got information a few weeks ago that made us think they would be coming in a few days, when suddenly we got notice from our home state that we have “too many kids” and they won’t let us complete the adoption.
We did find a way to get around it, thankfully, which is that we can make something called a “pilot program” I think, as an example to demonstrate how adoption works or something like that. (I’m not sure exactly what it is, sorry.) But that means my mom has to write the whole program out in about a week and I have to completely update our ministry website and the covers of my parents’ books to match the program she is making. (The program has to go through our family ministry in order to comply with the exceptions allowed on our state.)
So I ask for prayer that we get everything done in time, and get it done well, and especially that the head of whatever board is in charge of these things in our state likes what we show her and allows us to complete the adoption.

March 20, 2018 at 4:21 pm #67704@rochellaine, I will definitely be praying. having gone through a failed adoption myself I know how y’all are feeling. I hope it doesn’t fall through.
what state do you live in? it doesn’t make sense that there are restrictions on how many kids you can adopt.

Kapeefer til we're old and greyMarch 20, 2018 at 4:52 pm #67710@alia Thanks so much! We’re pretty sure this won’t fall through, because if this exception doesn’t work our delegate said he would write a new law for us…(wasn’t that nice of him? 😀 ) but that would take probably six months at least, and since we’ve already told the kids we’re adopting them and had some phone calls with them we’d rather they didn’t have to wait that long before coming home. It’s kinda hard to explain a waiting process to little kids.
There aren’t exactly restrictions on how many kids we can adopt, but there’s something about how many kids you can have in the house under eighteen if you’re adopting, which is of course ridiculous, since they don’t care how many birth kids you have, but once you decide to adopt you have to go by the rules, right? It’s one of those things that would work out fine if it weren’t for that one person at the top who read the papers and decided they didn’t like us for some reason or another, so they found a rule that would mess the process up.
Anyway, we’re certain that we’ll eventually have the kids home, but there are a lot of other issues that will come up if this first exception doesn’t work, such as possibly moving and having to redo our homestudy…
