May 28, 2025 at 6:47 pm #203589I like it! I like how you’re beginning to integrate action on Sef’s part. I definitely want to see an explanation for why she is stronger than other people the pythonos use. I’d guess her strength comes from hope, but she doesn’t seem to have any up until this point.

May 29, 2025 at 1:56 am #203594I’m confused…what gave you the impression that Sef is stronger than most people the Pythonos use? that wasn’t my intent at all…
The whole point of the chapter was to show more of her weaknesses and now I’m confused XDXD

May 29, 2025 at 8:49 am #203599I should have been clearer. XD I was talking about this chapter but also recent events in the book. One of the last chapters had this:
“Thisss one, Iver?” he slapped his knee, shaking his head. “You sssay your power comesss from this weakling?”
Iver stared at him. “She isss not as weak as she appearsss.”
Sef blinked hard.
And then Iver proves himself right. On the one hand, maybe this just means Sef believes the lies more than other people would. But I got the sense that Iver was referring to how long she has lasted without dying. If that’s true, Sef would have to possess more strength than a normal Pythonos’ slave.
As for the latest chapter. Maybe I was focusing more on Sef’s actions than her thoughts – because we have seen her in the same mindset throughout the entire book – but she did get up and spend time outside. That’s a step in the right direction. Before, she just stayed put.
I realize you’re thinking about Sef’s emotions, but as the reader, I guess I’m paying attention for any change or development.

May 29, 2025 at 1:35 pm #203606Ohhhh that makes more sense.
And then Iver proves himself right. On the one hand, maybe this just means Sef believes the lies more than other people would. But I got the sense that Iver was referring to how long she has lasted without dying. If that’s true, Sef would have to possess more strength than a normal Pythonos’ slave.
Sef doesn’t possess more strength, she believes the lies way more than anyone else. Because she believes the lies, she doesn’t die. So in a way, her severe weakness is what Iver calls “strong” because she gives him power and doesn’t die. So both things you said are right, but the only reason she doesn’t die is because of how much she believes the lies.
That does make sense, I think….
