@perfectfifths Welcome! G’day. Yep, I’m another of the Australians. From NSW.
Did I hear you mention the Ilyon Chronicles? They’re some of my favourite books ever.
Also it’s funny that all us Austrlian’s are from different states. We still need some from NT, SA and TAS though. And the ACT, I’d like that because I almost live there.
And I love violin music though I can hardy play the piano myself.
November 30, 2016 at 8:26 am #21888@clairec: Yep, Perth area, but I’m not going to get any more specific than that. 😉 Also, my bro and I LOVE Studio C! We haven’t been anywhere else in Australia, unfortunately, but we have been to the States for Christmas in 2004 (my Dad’s American)
@anna-brie: Thank you! I only wish some of the other Aussies lived closer by! 😀 Yes, I did mention Ilyon Chronicles. I’m very much looking forward to reading it. My mum just ordered Resistance from Jaye L. Knight’s Black Friday sale and it’s going to arrive just in time for my birthday (like literally on the day) XDCurrently reading Les Miserables
November 30, 2016 at 12:30 pm #21895@perfectfifths Did I hear Studio C?! Am I aloud to make a brief interjection to say that you have very good taste? 🙂
And I’d like to think my name is Elvish. 😉

November 30, 2016 at 7:05 pm #21923@ethryndal: Yes, thank you, I like to think so. 😉 Ethryndal is such a pretty name!

December 1, 2016 at 6:28 am #21963@clairec You really think so? 😀 I don’t remember any Claires, that I know off, if that is your real name? XD When were you in Perth, like what year?

December 1, 2016 at 11:26 am #21976@perfectfifths: sorry I’m a little late but welcome! Another music person! Perfect fifths are great. Unfortunately, I don’t have the privilege of living in Australia. I’m stuck in the good ol’ USA. Hearing about other countries always fascinates me. What is it like over there? Is it as pretty as everyone says?
December 1, 2016 at 7:19 pm #22007@julia-r: That’s a pretty name. 🙂 Yes, W.A. is very pretty, especially down in Albany. Also when it’s cooler weather and the grass is actually green. 😀 In summer it gets pretty, stinkin’ hot, and dead. And humid. And hot. XD Unfortunately we don’t get snow in the winter either, and our Christmas is in summer. 😀
I’m happy to answer any questions anyone has about W.A. I have been in a lot of contact with other Americans lately and they asked a lot of questions. 😀

December 2, 2016 at 4:58 am #22066@perfectfifths, No Claire is not my real name. (surprise, everyone! :P) I’d rather not say what my name is on a forum as open to the internet as this, but it starts with B (and I would be willing to tell you if you want.) We were in Perth from about, let’s see… 2004 – 2008 and then late 2009 – early 2010, then we set off to PNG as missionaries and have been on the go ever since. Also, if we do know each other, it’s not necessarily from Church, but just in case, we went to Woodvale Baptist Church on the North side of Perth. This is quite fun actually…I have a few guesses as to who you could be. Oh and also, if you’d rather not say, that’s okay, but do you have a lot of siblings?

December 2, 2016 at 8:01 am #22070@clairec: Aha, well, I don’t recall my family mentioning us ever going to Woodvale Baptist, we’ve actually been out of a church for some years (for various reasons), though we do church at home. I do not have a lot of siblings, just the one brother, @leumeister. I actually only know of one friend who moved to the eastern states and her name does not start with B. But, in 2008, I was about 9, and I don’t remember heaps from when I was 9, so, you never know. I don’t believe there is a way of knowing for certain without telling who we both are (I totally understand your want for internet safety, that is a big rule in our house too) But, the trying to guess who the other is without actually saying who we are was fun! 🙂

December 5, 2016 at 3:10 am #22239@perfectfifths *very late reply* Oh, I’m glad it was encouraging! That’s why I became a writer, too; there really isn’t enough good Christian fiction out there.
December 5, 2016 at 7:41 am #22243@sarah-h: Agreed, which is unfortunate. What kind of stories are you working on? I always love to read other peoples’ works (is that possible on here?), especially if they have the same goal of writing Christian fiction. 🙂
And what about Christian movies? From what I’ve found, they’re either very shallow or about sports – and to be perfectly honest, I couldn’t care less about watching a spots movie. There are some exceptions, though, such as War Room.

December 6, 2016 at 2:56 am #22333@perfectfifths I have only attempted two stories, both of them historical fiction, and both very unfinished. Once my writing skills improve, I hope to write spiritual warfare fiction, like This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti. Other people have posted snippets of their writing in Scene Critiques, and under the SciFi topic; I just remembered I do have one scene in the critiques section, but the writing isn’t very good.
It does seem like most Christian movies are about either romance or sports, sadly. There are a few very good ones, though; have you seen Luther, or October Baby? Or the Nativity Story? Or The Widow’s Might? Those are some of my favorites. I liked War Room too, and Fireproof. My brothers and I have been considering filmmaking simply because of how lame so many Christian movies are. Now that special effects can be done so easily with modern computers, it is much more possible for a small Christian team to make a good movie. Speaking of movies, @bluejay posted a link to a terrific Christian Lego movie called Bound, here on page 3. It’s very well done.December 6, 2016 at 7:22 pm #22385@sarah-h That sounds like a great goal to make.
No, I haven’t seen any of those movies, though I think we have Fireproof.
Filmmaking sounds really fun! I know of another girl whose family is doing that, too. 😀Currently reading Les Miserables
