@perfectfifths Welcome to Kingdom Pen! Sorry about the late welcome. 🙂 Hope to see you around!
November 29, 2016 at 6:02 pm #21843@dragon-snapper: I like drawing maps (I use a PC program called GIMP) I once made a map for a friend’s story, which she loved, I’ve made a few maps of my own worlds, too.
@emma-flournoy: Yes, YouTube is great for things like that! And I do agree with you; Lindsey’s style is a little strange – and uncomfortable-looking.@Gabrielle: Thank you! I hope to stick around! 😀

November 29, 2016 at 7:28 pm #21853@kate-flournoy: You like drawing maps?? 😀 😀 I love maps in books, especially Fantasy, because it helps you kind of follow the heroes’ journeys.

November 29, 2016 at 7:32 pm #21854@PerfectFifths yesssssss. I love maps. Both drawing and looking at them. It’s my dream to have my own ‘office/study’ with the walls simply covered in maps. 😀
November 29, 2016 at 7:35 pm #21855@kate-flournoy: Yes, Maps are so epic! We have a huge poster map for Middle-earth from the Hobbit that my brother got for his b-day, and I like to look at it sometimes and find all the places I know – Lothlorian, the Shire, Rivendell, Minas Tirith.

November 29, 2016 at 7:38 pm #21856@PerfectFifths I am so jealous… 😛 I actually taught myself calligraphy simply because I loved the font Tolkien uses for his maps so much I wanted to make maps the same way. XD
November 29, 2016 at 7:44 pm #21857@kate-flournoy: Wow, that’s awesome! I can have fairly nice handwriting (when I really, really try!) but most of the time I specialise in cacography. 😉 My mum has reeeeallllly nice handwriting, and she makes amazing looking fonts. 😀

November 29, 2016 at 7:47 pm #21858@PerfectFifths yes, I had loads of fun teaching myself all the different old fonts I could find… in fact I probably should have learned the basics first, but I wanted to learn those other fonts so badly I plunged right into the advanced styles and mastered the basics on the way. 😛 I especially like the Gothic font— the one used most in old illuminated manuscripts. It’s amazing fun to write and it looks so fascinating.
November 29, 2016 at 7:58 pm #21860@kate-flournoy: I like the Gothic scripts, too. I often go searching for fonts to use in my stories. My favourite site is FontSpace. Everything is free, and I always download the ones that allow for personal and commercial use.

November 30, 2016 at 2:33 am #21875@perfectfifths Hi! 🙂 I was reading through your introduction again, and I just wanted to encourage you to be bold about your faith in your stories. Not preachy, necessarily, but don’t hide the light God has put inside you. The world is starving for the truth, and you have the means to give it to them. Morality and wholesomeness is good, but it cannot save the lost. Only Jesus can. 🙂
November 30, 2016 at 4:21 am #21878@sarah-h: Thank you! That is so encouraging! I’ve always felt there’s not enough Christian fiction (namely fantasy, which is a lot of the time so dark and evil), especially for young adults/teens, and instead of sitting around mulling about it, I wanted to do something! It looks like everyone on here has the same idea, and it’s wonderful that so many want to make a difference of this kind.

November 30, 2016 at 4:59 am #21881@perfectfifths, Welcome! I’m also Australian. I noticed you told @bluejay that you were from WA. I used to live there! But I live in Brisbane now. WA is amazing. It was sort of my first childhood home (actually that would be America, but I don’t remember that very well, so it would have to be Perth. Is that where you’re from?
