So stay away please”*Stands up and backs to then end of boat* “Survive if you can!” *Suddenly transforms into an ugly hag and leap over board.*
Rameaux: “The witch!” *Rises and fires. He hits. The hag screams and then vanishes into the water and never comes up. Incidentally, Rameaux looses his balance and falls into the water. He struggles to the surface and takes a deep breath. A huge black slithery form is perceived snaking through the reeking filth of liquid directly towards him.*

Arianwen: *catches breath sharply, half rises in seat and draws sword over her shoulder, sends it flying end over end through the air* *it lands in water with splash and sticks* *tentacles lash, something roars, then tentacles disappear in bubbling water with gurgling sound* *Arianwen reaches over side of boat, extends hand to Rameaux* “Haste, my lord! Haste, before you are boiled alive!”
Rameaux: *Takes hand and climbs eagerly back into canoe. Groans in pain but sits down and takes it.* “My powder is ruined. I am down to a dagger.”
