CONGRATS ON YOUR NOVEL!!!! I’m so happy for you! XD That is so exciting.
Hi! Welcome to the KP forum! I’m Lydia. 🙂 You’re writing about mermaids?? How fun! I’ve dabbled in writing mermaid stories myself! I ended up dropping that project, but it was a retelling of Ariel called Rebel. (Now that I’m thinking about it, though, it was a pretty cool story idea… I might have to revisit it sometime… XD)
January 30, 2022 at 8:44 pm #108725Hi, and pleased to meet you!
Persuasion is my absolute favorite J. A. novel. Yes, I like it better than Pride and Prejudice. Ann always seemed to me to have a much stronger true character than Elizabeth. I like her other books, but that one…

Ooo, y’alls’ characters sound awesome!
(Uh, Elishavet, I was totally seeing William with blond hair blue eyes. The name makes me think Saxon [even though it’s Norman])
So, here is aÂ
hopefullybrief description of the six main characters for this series (two for each book).Zlatan (book1); black furred wolf, molten gold eyes, light build, quiet and intense. Gets up to regular hight.
Vulkasin (book1); soft grey furred wolf with dark brown markings, pale yellow eyes, broad build, boisterous and focused. Great wolf hight (which isn’t good for his health, considering all the Great Wolves were either murdered or banished after the coup).
Wilkins (book2); grey/brown furred grey fox, soft green/grey eyes, light build, loyal and perceptive. Regular hight (for a grey fox, so small and short).
Spion (book2); red fox, green/yellow eyes, agile (basically a slinky), light for a red fox, brooding and clannish. Regular Lasair fox hight (The tallest foxes).
Mitchel (book 3); cream/grey marbled cat, green eyes, average build, gentle (yet strong-willed) and expressive (often poetic). Average hight.
Adrianna (book 3); black/white cat, vivid green eyes, slim build, passionate (can be explosive) and sensitive. Looks taller than she actually is.

Cool! Btw, would you consider ever starting a cover design business if you enjoy cover designing? I definitely wouldn’t because although making covers is fun, I’m not so good at it, lol.
I totally would, if I was decent by at it! XD Honestly, I don’t know if I’m good at it or not, and I’ve never tried digital drawing either, so there’s that. I think I could make some pretty complicated/intriguing covers with some photography and a lot of practice in Photoshop. If I could somehow turn my graphite drawings into a cover, that’d be great (although I’m not sure even those are cover worthy. I’ve never actually tried drawing a cover.)
But I think I’d enjoy designing covers, since I love thinking up random ones. I don’t know. If I wasn’t any good at it, then NO! XD I’d hate to be responsible for terrible covers. XD
I actually had a really clear picture of Alwin XD I pictured him with long, straight, glossy black hair, a black mustache with maybe a little hint of beard on the chin, and almond-shaped black eyes. I also pictured him tall and thin. I guess I was somewhat right? XD
William I imagined with red hair, since whenever I hear the name William, I tend to picture red hair. XD Idk why.
Winifrith I pictured tall and with blonde hair and blue-green eyes. I’m actually surprised I wasn’t toooo far off on her either!
Aethel I pictured as basically a small Winifrith. XDYou were really close!
Confession: your description of Alwin made me laugh. Not because it was in itself ridiculous, (it actually made a bit of sense) but because it illustrates one of my tendencies: I rarely add facial hair to any character whether that be my own charrrie, or someone else’s. Mustaches are of all probably the rarest for me to add. It can cause some awkward moments for me when I realize I how I saw a character was very different from the author’s intention.
However, like I said you were really close! You got their individual coloring about right, and you visualized their build supper close. I was actually almost surprised, especially with Winifrith.
By the way, ( @koshka too) William is blond as a child, but his hair darkens as he grows older, and Winifrith can seem very tall when she is angry. XD
Russell has straight dark brown hair cut short and sky blue eyes; he’s also clean-shaven. He’s tall and strongly built despite missing his left arm and leg.
Eliza has beautiful ebony skin with black hair and dark brown eyes. She’s small and thin, a little less than the average seven-year-old height.
Robert has steely blue eyes, short blond hair and a blond mustache, and he’s tall (taller than Russell, who is his younger brother) and thin.
Vivienne (Grandmother Campbell) is the source of her sons’ blue eyes (and her husband also had them), and hers are cold like Robert’s. In her youth, her hair was dark blonde before it turned dove gray. She has crow’s feet, but her face is unwrinkled. She’s short and slim.
Did you picture my characters any particular way?
Hmm, actually yes. 😉
I saw a very clear image of Eliza, rather like a friend if mine when she was younger, with about that tone of skin, eyes, and with curly-kinky hair. I don’t think I saw her as particularly small, but it fits.
Russell had light or dark brown hair, I’m pretty sure, blue eyes don’t clash but I don’t remember if they were blue or brown. A missing leg, yes, but I don’t think I noticed a missing arm. 😉 He was tall, six-foot-something.
The name Robert makes me think dark brown hair and swarthy completion. I don’t exactly know why, bit it probably has to do with some book I read or person I met years ago. XD I don’t think he was as tall as his brother, but I really hadn’t met him.
Vivienne had white-grey hair, and more creases in her face. She was rather pale, I always saw her sitting down, for some unexplainable reason.
So I was kinda-sorta close, but definitely not exact. XD

Your fantasy world sounds so complex! I can tell you’ve put a lot of time into building it. And your characters sound so interesting!
Agh, WFR sounds FANTASTIC!!! I’m already rooting for Russel and Eliza. XD
YAY! Thank you!
Oh my goodness, that redemption scene sounds AWESOME!!! (Aren’t redemption scenes just the best?) And Simon sounds like an absolutely wonderful character! Isn’t it great to get to know biblical figures intimately through biblical fiction?
February 2, 2022 at 12:46 pm #108826@koshka Your animal characters sound so cool! Are they animals that stand normally or do they stand on two legs sometimes/most of the time?

February 2, 2022 at 1:43 pm #108829@elishavet-pidyon Thanks! I actually created Crossfire for a fanfiction, and Hunter was based off of a character by the same name from a TV show I really liked (and I just tweaked his features to make him my own character). But Torrent and Beaumont were mostly made up on my own.

February 2, 2022 at 3:08 pm #108831Welcome! That’s interesting. Now I wonder how much my characters were influenced by books I’ve read. Probably quite a bit.
In Eirtan, my character’s features were actually inspired by the countries I was blending. For the series I’ve mainly ranted about on here, Aethel resulted in an attempt of mine to create a character with long, thick, black hair. It sounds crazy, but it’s true. XD All I had to do was add a painful backstory and I had what has become her.

February 2, 2022 at 3:43 pm #108837Anyway, my animals are complete animals in clothing that walk on two legs but often run (or lope) on four. I’m still figuring out how exactly armor and weaponry will work with this, but so far I haven’t had any real difficulties.

Fork the GorkFebruary 3, 2022 at 9:43 am #108880@koshka So cool! In my own stories and fanfictions, several characters are humans with cat ears and tails, and fur (although they wear clothes and armor over that), and they usually walk on two legs but can also go on four. I just kept their armor and weapons the way the characters were in the stories where they were completely human (since most animal-people stories of mine are fanfics).

February 3, 2022 at 9:50 am #108882@lydia-s That’s a great scene idea! You should put it in the book! I’d read it.

February 14, 2022 at 7:58 pm #109080Anne is a phenomenal character, I agree! She’s Lizzie’s opposite in nearly every way, and, although I love Lizzie, I have to say Anne is my fav. 😉 She’s such a sweet, quiet heroine. Plus, another point in favor of Persuasion is Frederick Wentworth’s letter… *happy sigh* 😛
Aww, thanks so much!!! I’m glad you think so. 😀
