Ok this is ironic. I was just saying poscas are awesome, right as I was going to press send, I look down to realize I’ve smugged it with my sleeve. Blue paint on my sweater now. 😑

December 31, 2022 at 12:01 am #126852@koshka OOOH!!! Love ur questions!!
1. OOF! Hmm… my favorite thing? Man that’s thought because I just…love him! Make sense? lol! But….maybe the way he sees things. Idk if that makes sense, but when I think of him, he’s always the calm, character, and yes that comes off as stoic and even unapproachable sometimes, but in truth he’s just a deep thinker, and he has a heart of gold. A warrior’s heart. Idk I just love that about him. He has this, down to earth nature about him that I adore!
2. AHH I LUV THIS AND IMMEDIATELY GOT AN ANSWER! Ara would totally play the violin…the kind of violin that specializes in classical music, enrapturing everyone….though I’m sure Jocelyn would be able to convince her to break out into a jig every so often 😉 (she would also probably learn a bit of the harp…I feel like those two instruments would be for her. Perhaps she’d learn the harp even from Luna, because that seems like a very Luna-ish instrument.)
November? 😂 November would totally feel inept to play an instrument, feeling like he’d totally mess up. He’d be afraid to break anything with strings, or play horribly and embarrass himself, but…I have a feeling Arabella would coax him instead…
To sing.
Which, of course, he’d immediately be like “Can I play an instrument instead?” But, surprisingly enough, November has a beautiful voice, once he gets past his nervousness.
(and the voice is totally an instrument)
3. Ahh! A’Grend. So, A’Grend is a type and shadow of the Garden of Eden, that being said it’s supposed to be paradise.
Of course there are prejudices and not everything is perfect.
That being said, there aren’t really issues such as money that pop up all that often, in the fact that there aren’t “Homeless” people or those “In Debt.”
Yes people still need their crops and things they make to survive, to buy and trade, but if somehow something should happen, they won’t go under, Ara’s family would be all too happy to help.
However…the A’Grendian people have become…very proud over the years….and as such, would rather die then ask Ara’s family for any help….
Even so, there still aren’t really any in bad shape in her home. But don’t think that makes her home perfect, by any means.
4. I haven’t done enough worldbuilding really…but yes! I definitely want some!
5. YES I REALLT WANT SOME OF THESE! Idk what yet, but ahh it would be so cool! I luv Venus flytraps so this would amazing! Maybe tie them in with the dryads a bit too? Idk.
6. same as before haven’t done a ton of worldbuilding but of course somewhere in my entire giant world there are bound to be swamps XD
7. As for water sources…I’m sure it would depend on the swamp itself…and since I haven’t created a specific swamp at this point, I’m not sure 😅

OH AND @koshka @loopylin and mineral! *places uno reverse card* YALL SHOULD ALSO ANSWER THOSE QUESTIONS! (U don’t have to do the world ones, but-
1. What is one instrument one of your fav characters would play (if they don’t play one)
2. What’s your favorite thing about one of your characters?
3. What gave you the ideas for your characters?
4. Kinda following, what gave you the idea for your plots?

#ProtectSebDecember 31, 2022 at 12:05 am #126857Yeah ikr! I only have a few. I actually don’t like the Micheal podcast, they have a different nib than the ones from our local art supply store, which sells ones with roller balls. Idk why it’s different, I think it’s the same nib size, but it’s lines are a lot cleaner.

1. What is one instrument one of your fav characters would play (if they don’t play one)
Well, originally Tauren played the guitar! I play clarinet, so I just had to include instruments. Also Kieryn plays violin, it’s not really in the plot though. I used to have it so that he couldn’t play it because his mom taught him, and it just brought up too many memories 😭
2. What’s your favorite thing about one of your characters?
Oh, that’s so hard… I’d say Tauren just being super sweet and innocent, but also able to make Lesli feel stable in the midst of her family instabilities. Like, he’s really there for her 🙂
3. What gave you the ideas for your characters?
Well, lots actually! It took me awhile to realize how much the city of ember inspired my book, and that story had a girl and guy mc. Tauren is inspired by just my general idea of the kind of friend I would like to have, and Lesli is a lot inspired by me. I want adventure, but don’t have it, and just lot’s of other things that make us similar. Kieryn was originally a snarky antagonist who wanted to be popular, you could only see his true self when he was playing the violin. Ok it’s still similar, but he’s not as hateable now.
Layson I think is the most interesting in how he became. He’s a dad for the later half of the story, I don’t want to get to personal with this, but he’s got some of the playfulness I used to have with my dad, but missing a couple flaws. That’s not to say he’s flawless. He just a super safe loving person, and even though his daughter is adopted, it’s like he doesn’t know the difference.
Aleshia and Martha aren’t super inspired by anything, but it’s basically the dynamic of what would you do if your mentor and friend messed up on something very controversial? Aleshia doesn’t exactly know how to handle it.
Kaine’s entire plot is basically mental health. Really inspired by how confused I was for a year or two, there’s just too much during some periods of life, and not everyone comes up with or has a healthy way to deal with it. His way of finding an escape from reality isn’t the best, I’d say he gets pretty close to a panic attack at times.
Ok, so Kendrick. He’s a newer character of mine, and his plot is basically dealing with guilt. His plot is directly interwoven into Kaine”s, he’s actually the one that caused some of Kaine’s issues, but he was under extreme pressure.
Jonathan Ledger: the kinda ultimate mentor of the series. He see’s people in need, and wants to help. My world is dystopian, so although it is healing, there’s a lot of issues. He is caring for Kendrick when Kaine meets him.
Maria: Jonathan’s daughter, and Kendricks main comfort. Kendrick has panic attacks at times, and Maria’s kinda always on standby for when it happens. They read together, and that helps get his mind off of his past. Idk how much of our world Ill include in my book, but I like to think they read the bible. And maybe C S lewis.
4. Kinda following, what gave you the idea for your plots?
Well, city of ember for the underground thing. America’s current political division for the politics. I wanted to give off the message that division leads to dangerous things, as my world was destroyed by it. People like to make others hate eachother to make them like themselves better. It feels good to say, “Oh I’m not like those stupid republicans/democrats” and it’s wrong. It’s dangerous to be neutral in my world, just like it could be in our world. I’m allowed to not have a opinion on something, and I shouldn’t feel hated by somebody who doesn’t agree. My plot is mainly about exploring though. As I get older, there’s more to want to explore, it’s scary sometimes, and where I am right now, I’m just at home doing schoolwork art and a couple other hobbies. It feels like a small world, just like how the west hills bunkers is a small world. So you could say it’s a bit of a coming of age story, the fears and excitements of busting out (quite literally in this sense).
Wow. Now that’s what you call a rant!! 🤣😅

December 31, 2022 at 12:29 am #126861- Ooh, I’m not sure. I know Wilkins plays the lyre, and there’s this Foxish bard that plays a mandolin style instrument, and there’s a young bagpiper that’s Wilkins’ friend. But other than them? I think Zlatan would play a Viol and Vulkasin would play fiddle or…no wait…an accordion! Mikkel would probably play a guitar or lute.
- I have so many characters to choose from…
- Well, I got the idea, the feel if you know what I mean, for Mikkel at the 2021 NABQT. The speaker for one of the morning prayer meetings shared the testimony of a former Bible quizzer who was in the Navy. Things were falling apart, and one day this young man was at the rail of the ship far out at sea, considering ending his life, when a sparrow hit the deck behind him. Instantly a verse he had memorized as a quizzer “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.”
That’s the only character I can pin down to one thing. Most of my ideas sort of form over time from whatever it is they grow on.
- I’m not sure. Same thing about my plots as my characters. History, other books, just people talking and day to day life all influence either for good or ill.

Cool! He has a heart of gold?! 😆 I wouldn’t know from the rp’s but that’s great!
I could totally see Luna with a harp! And violin is awesome.
AWWW november can sing? That’s sooo cute!! 🥰

Ooh… interesting. Stubborn 😂 what made them so proud?
4. I haven’t done enough worldbuilding really…but yes! I definitely want some!
You should try making a map! I love thinking about how my world would look on one. I have this weird travel map for Layson journey, it has places but also the times he arrives at locations, so it’s also a timeline.
Oh! and another question: Is Ara a fea? Seeing as she’s Pax’s sister?
why did I forget about swamps?! I need one in my book now! The closest thing I have is a land with tons of mold everywhere, it drips from the ceilings and squishes under your feet. 😳

December 31, 2022 at 12:43 am #126865A land covered in MOLD?! that is totally and completely GROSS. And your description is…lovely. *gags*
Really awesome, though, despite the obvious disgustingness.

Bagpipes are awesome! I play clarinet, and I can’t imagine how much more air would be needed to play that thing 😮
Oh, Mikkel’s inspiration sounds interesting! what a story too!
I’m not sure. Same thing about my plots as my characters. History, other books, just people talking and day to day life all influence either for good or ill.
Yeah, I could see other people influencing books! I would say that it’s only happened once in my story, because so many character’s are based off of me in some way.

I think that’s what the bag is for, but I don’t think I could do it. I don’t play any wind instruments, but I have played around on my dad’s trumpet and wowsers. They take a lot!
so many character’s are based off of me in some way.
I think that happens to all of us. I mean, C. S. Lewis said that Susan was highly inspired by himself.
