      Awww! That’s adorable! I love that! A lot of little kids are scared of me at 1st but the next time I see them I get a run hug. Lol. It’s so cute. Especially little boys. Girls tend to crawl or slowly walk over to me. And a lot of girls love to sit in my lap. I’m excited to have kids someday if God allows. šŸ˜šŸ˜

            @sarafini (I keep on writing sarafina lol)

            Yeah it was really cute!

            That’s great! I used to want to have a giant family, with some of my kids and some adopted. It’s a bit undertaking, who now’s if I’ll still do that someday šŸ˜‚

              Oofā€¦thats rough with ya story friend šŸ˜…. Hey Iā€™d be pleased as punch to try and help with your plot hole if ya like!

              Oh yeah. Okay!! Thanks! I’ll lay it out here in just a sec šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜‰. Gotta finish math šŸ˜‘šŸ˜….

              @mineralizedwritings

              Sorry about that! Youā€™ll figure it out šŸ˜‰

              Yep! I’m sure I will…absolutely sure…in 5 years maybe! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜žšŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø Nah, I’ll figure it out sooner.

              What is your idea for your new wip? And if you want to revive the other one, Iā€™d be happy to provide some ideas for your plot issues! I would recommend trying to follow a plan, Iā€™ve looked at both save the cat and the heroā€™s journey, my first book roughly follows the first one, and my second book roughly follows the second one.

              Thank you for the offer!! I’ll post in just a second. I gotta finish math šŸ˜ØšŸ˜‘. I’ve heard of Save the Cat. What exactly is it??

              @felicity

              I love that! So beautiful. Don’t give up!! We can do it šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜Š!

              @koshka

              So! What are everyoneā€™s MCā€™s themes?

              Great question!

              Matthew: He struggles with getting out of his comfort zone. He’s very shy, and if he didn’t have such an outgoing sister, he probably would stay inside all day XD. Another thing is guilt. Any little thing he does (mostly accidents) makes him feel SO bad and he can’t say sorry enough. My poor baby šŸ˜šŸ˜.

              Lyla: She’s, well, the more under developed of the two. So for now, hers is protecting her brother (he’s bullied a lot) and being a good friend and sister. That’s all for now, She’ll have some more once I develop her more :).

              Asher (He’s in my new book..idea…thing [nice job if you got that reference. If not, it’s fine!šŸ˜Š]): Over coming fear. He goes through some rough stuff in my book. And healing from those experiences. And being less reckless.

              Iris (Asher’s older sister): Protect her brother. This is her main theme. The book is about her getting him back and protecting him. Also true sacrificial love.

              That’s all for now! I’ll probably change some/add some before I start writing their books.

                @koshka

                *Loud, stormy applause*

                *peeks out from behind piles of notebooks* Wait, someone’s clapping?

                Iā€™ve also just finished college finals for the year, so thatā€™s a relief on time.

                Congratulations! It must feel good to have them done.

                I need to be more steady in my writing. Maybe that means better accountability, maybe that means working it in to my schedule. At any rate, Iā€™m hoping to finish the first draft forĀ Hearts of Gold by the end of next year.

                Being consistent is my problem too. I am trying to pray more about my writing, which, praise the Lord, has been helping! But I still have to work at it and at times it’s hard. I like calling myself a writer, and I like thinking about my books, but right now it’s hard for me to get the words down.

                Not all writing is words on paper. Iā€™m a bit of a plotter, so Iā€™ve been working of my characterā€™s arcs and story plot. (Thee book Save the Cat Writes a Novel is wonderful help on that score) or at least thatā€™s what I tell myself.

                That’s true. I should try doing more planning and plotting, and maybe that will get ideas flowing. šŸ˜€ Thanks for the book recommendation!

                And talking about my WIP and hearing others talk about theirs makes me want to write, so please, talk as much as you like!

                Ok that’s good. šŸ˜€

                For my WIP Overcome I have a problem. So I can make the Ukrainian family escape to Poland a few days after Russia invades their town, or I can make them stay there for a couple months. If I do the latter, the book will end up being pretty long, but I’ll be able to show what life is like under Russian occupation.

                So what do you think? I’m leaning towards keeping the book shorter. Also, it’s hard to find reliable info on life under the Russians, so it would be hard to realistically portray what the family is going through.

                He must increase, but I must decrease.

                  Hey I love helping people with plot issues! If you feel like sharing šŸ˜ one of my favorite things in my book is trying to connect everything.

                  Thanks! I was telling Koshka a little about it if you want to give your thoughts…

                  And lol, your little speech about the land of unfulfilled dreams. Iā€™ve been there before lol. Iā€™m not currently there, but I expect to end up there at some point in the writing process.

                  Oh I hope you never end up there… šŸ˜€ It was kind of fun to make that up.

                      ik not everyone has answered the Charrie theme question lol, and I also know not everyone is writing fantasy, but who here has some interesting cultures, races, species or just anything theyā€™ve created entirely from scratch or based on something from real life/other books and stories and changed for their own works? If so, wanna share them?!

                          Hmm…I think I’d have them escape a few days after Russia invades, that way you can show a glimpse of what it’s like, but not take it too far or make it too long.

                          Reliable info on Russia in modern day is a little difficult to find, and unbiased info is practically impossible. If you need help with research I’d be glad to join in.

                            Hmmā€¦for ur issue with ur book, it honestly goes to what youĀ wantĀ to do.

                            I think a lot of us as writers forget to think about the fact thatā€¦uhhā€¦weĀ areĀ the writers XD, and if itā€™s not enjoyableā€¦we wonā€™t want to write it, so while yes we do have to think about our future readers, we must also think of ourselves and what we want to do.

                            If youĀ wantĀ to keep it short and donā€™t want to get into all of that about living under the Russians, then donā€™t. You can still make your book conflict filled or action packed (whatever youā€™re going for) by showing how hard it is leaving home, or getting our. Maybe they run into difficulty getting out. Maybe they escape right WHEN theyā€™re being invaded, and not days beforehand?

                            BUT, if youĀ wantĀ to write about being under the Russians, and want to make the book longer then do so. Or, if you really want to write about it but donā€™t want a long book, thereā€™s ways to figure that out too. Just make your writing impactful, and people wonā€™t mind the books length.

                                Here are some themes for my characters:

                                Ludwika: coming of age, taking responsibility for your actions, submitting to the authority in your life (her dad), learning who God is.

                                Nataliya: dealing with fear and grief, learning determination and loyalty.

                                Piotr: overcoming set backs in a mature way, (not acting out to get attention), controlling anger, learning to care and feel love.

                                Lyaksandro: innocence, loyalty.

                                  I agree with Godly. You could do either! Yeah, you could have them escape right before they’re invaded, so you can have some action, but not make it super long. Personally, I really love long books! I will totally read yours when it’s published either way šŸ˜‰šŸ˜Š. Just make sure it’s meaningful and inspirational!
