That’s cool! Ever defender that I’ve known has been an awesome person, I’m sure you’ll be the same! 🙂
If you ask me about my book, I will talk for hours. Have a nice day!😊
May 12, 2021 at 10:05 pm #99615Are you writing anything currently?

May 12, 2021 at 10:11 pm #99616Yes, actually! I’m working on my YA Sci-Fi/Fantasy novel. I’m only at about 15,000 words so far, but I’m getting closer and closer to finishing my first draft every day.
If you ask me about my book, I will talk for hours. Have a nice day!😊

May 12, 2021 at 10:30 pm #99620It’s about a bunch of princesses at this tournament for ultimate glory and bragging rights of their kingdom. There’s a lot more to it but I’m trying to shorten it as much as possible. But I could go on for hours. lol

May 13, 2021 at 5:33 pm #99652She looks gorgeous! I go to a barn in the summer, and my equine bestie is a bay Thoroughbred. She’s super pretty and super sweet. 😉 Was your horse a Paint?
Ah, Tolkien, the master storyteller. He ranks high among my own personal favorites, partly because of how gifted he was. I haven’t heard of the other two authors you mentioned before though. What type of novels do they write?
Griffins are awesome! (Especially the ones in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe movie. 😉)
Yes, I know what you mean! (Some villains are awesome, simply because of how well they’re written!) I have to say my favorite character ever is Danek Crevilon from Traiven’s Pass by Jessica Marinos. The book itself isn’t my favorite. It’s good, but I like others better. Danek, though, is the only character who has ever nearly given me an emotional breakdown, and I love him. 😀 Gandalf and Sam are awesome too though! Legolas is probably my favorite character from the book. The elves are the best! 😛
May 13, 2021 at 9:12 pm #99666It’s really cool how you world build! Unfortunately, it’s something I lack a lot when it comes to writing. I’m getting better at is as I go along, but I tend to just focus on everything about characters, metaphors, theme, and all the philosophical stuff of the story. XD Though I absolutely love stories with immersive and complex worlds.
Do you have any tips, for a beginner world builder?
May 14, 2021 at 12:25 am #99674Yes she was! Her coat was a tobiano paint and she was half Gypsy Vanner half Arabian.
Yes Tolkien is such a great writer. Reading the Silmarillion really gave the rest of his books a whole new light for me. Also if you want a SAD read I’d suggest The Children of Hurin. That book actually brought tears to my eyes (now that is a GREAT feat for me 😆).
Lois W. Johnson writes Christian historical fiction. My favourite of the series she’s written is The Viking Quest series set in the time when the Vikings were raiding Ireland. And another series by her is The Freedom Seekers set in the time of the Underground Railroad with a riverboat captain helping runaway slaves.
Lisa T Bergren… I’ve only read this one series she’s written (I can’t vouch for the rest of her books) called The River of Time where two girls in modern times Italy time travel back to Medieval Italy.
Yes griffins are! They did such a good job with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe movie. It’s nice to watch a movie that hasn’t been botched from what the book was. Like Prince Caspian I can hardly watch it in light of the book.
Oh I’ve never heard of that book or author.
Personally my favourite people group are the Hobbits though the Elves (Legolas) are epic.

May 14, 2021 at 1:16 am #99675I’ll try my best to write out the process I used. It’ll probably be a bit rambling. Lol.
So first I picture my main characters and divide them according to their appearance hair and eye color, skin tone, height, etc.
Then according to that I divided them into people groups. Then I came up with a country for each group of people.
Then I made a history that makes sense according to my basic plot.So for my one story I’ll give examples of a few of the people groups I came up with.
I pictured a girl with fair skin curly blond/gold hair who had a dragon. Whose brother had red curly hair and her father was a king and she lived in city called Zanok. This girl’s friend was darker skinned with black hair and blue eyes and was amazing with horses.
I also knew that a neighboring country would be attacking the princess’s country and from that I just let my imagination fly and wrote the basic summary I’d need for the three people groups I’d need for my story from the info I’d come up with so far. Which I will paste below.
“The Zanians:
The Zanians live in Zani and their capital city is called Zanok. Their hair generally varies from red to gold and is almost always curly. Their eyes vary greatly in color. They can control dragons somewhat. Their crest is a dragon.
They ever have a battle on their borders with Caborio (which is explained below)
The Caborians:
The Caborians look very much like their neighboring country, the Zanians, and generally have red to gold (blond) hair that is almost always curly. Their eyes vary greatly in color.
The people of Caborio live to the east of Zani and the two countries have been battling back and forth for many years. This tension originated when a King 500 years before had died having three sons. The country was so vast that the council decided to split his kingdom between his three sons Zanik, Cabor, and Dorano. Dorano was the oldest of the three sons and thought it absurd that he would not receive his father’s kingdom. He was also jealous of his brother’s territories because most of his was a vast desert. So he vowed to overthrow both of his brother’s kingdoms and to rule all three. His descendants also are still trying to keep his vow. His grandson overthrew Caborio and the two regions are ruled by the King of Dorando. The king of Dorando is ever trying to overthrow Zani but has never succeeded. As of yet…
The Esorons:
These people live in the plains of Esoro. The Esorons have darker skin with black hair and blue eyes. They are known for the horses that come from their land of which half is desert and the other half is grassy plains. They are very swift-footed people and can tame almost any horse.Their crest is a horse.”
And by the end by mentality going through the basic plot I’d want for the course of my book I started drawing a map to help myself plot out which directions the people were going at any given time in the story and ended up with 8 separate people groups and many made up creatures as well.
So there’s my “process” more or less. I hope what I said is helpful and that it made sense. 😁

May 17, 2021 at 5:50 pm #99755First item for business, that is an amazing profile portrait! Second item is that I am SO sorry for how late I am in welcoming you to Kingdom Pen, (though if you read everyone’s welcome page, I’m late on everything this month I think XD ). But anyhow… I’m not sure if these questions have been asked before and please ignore them if you don’t want to answer. Buuut… I love questions:) So I may ask a lot.
What is you favorite part of writing? What is your favorite setting to write in? Favorite character type? What is your all time favorite music genre and or song? Favorite writing tool?
See? Questions galore when I get started XD
Your WIP idea sounds incredible! And yes, I used to have that problem in the past where I have everything lined up in my head… but it just was painful getting it on paper. Perhaps I could share some pointers on getting the idea from brain to paper if you like:) Care to share some details about your story? It sounds super amazing! (I’m really sorry if anyone’s already ask and you can ignore me if they have).
Anyway, welcome to KP, it’s amazing to have you here! 😀
May 17, 2021 at 9:11 pm #99758*gasps* Wow, that is amazing! At the barn I go to, there used to be a half Clydesdale, half Paint named Clyde S. Dale (lol). He looked like a draft horse, had the feathers and everything, but he was no bigger than an average horse, perhaps even smaller! He was a bay as well, but you could see the paint patterns outlined on his coat. It was very cool. 🙂
I have yet to read The Silmarillion. Hopefully, that will happen someday! *glances at to-read list and frowns at how long it is* I actually still need to read The Lord of the Rings independently… My mom read LOTR aloud to us a couple of years back, so that (and reading The Hobbit) was how I fell in love with Tolkien’s writing. 🙂 Wow, that’s how sad it was?? Yikes… (Yeah, I’m pretty cold-hearted when it comes to books and movies… Or at least I was. I’m getting more emotional with fictional characters as I’m getting older… Which is good…I think… 😛 )
Those authors sound great! Is there one you recommend more than the other?
YES!!!!!! They completely ruined Prince Caspian… Peter’s angst… Susan and Caspian’s whole romance thing… the raid on the castle… the sorcery scene… I mean, really?! I actually wrote a paper for school about how that movie failed. XD If it wasn’t supposed to be Narnia, I’d be able to like the movie a whole lot more. They did a great job with the battle, it was very well acted, and the effects were great! It’s just not Narnia… *sigh*
I agree, the Hobbits are great too!
May 18, 2021 at 10:37 am #99796Thanks! She was the horse my family used to have she was born on our farm and we had her for 4 years. My mom and I broke her to ride which was a lot of fun.
No worries. Thanks for the welcome. 😁
Questions are great.
I am just starting up writing after a long time of not writing. So some of these questions I’m not wholly sure on yet. xD Though I’d say my favorite part would be to get down on paper what is in my head and also have what I’ve written show/teach good Biblical principles even though I’m writing fantasy.
My favorite setting? That would be out on the deck on a hammock either listening to music or just listening to the birds (it depends on if my little siblings are outside xD).
My favorite character to write would be the best friend, funny, sarcastic sort of type.
Oh, music… that’s a hard one. lol, I listen to a lot of variety. But I mainly listen to soundtracks (LotR, The Hobbit, Beyond the Mask, & HtTYD) and Christian music (fK&fC, Chris Tomlin, Jason Grey, Casting Crowns, Hawk Nelson, MercyMe, Steven Curtis Chapman, and the list goes on. And on. 😆)
Writing tool? Hmm if I’m getting what you mean by spelling tool it would be Spellcheck. 😆😆 I am NOT very good with grammar. I’m better than I used to be but…
I’d love to hear some writing tips! Well, it’s about a princess mainly whose kingdom has been captured by a neighboring country that they’ve been warring with for several hundred years. Her father dies (I still haven’t figured out what happened to her mother) and when the city is overtaken she hides her identity and is taken along with lots of her people to a foreign land. Then after several years of that, she manages to escape and I’m hoping that the majority of her people will eventually be freed but I’m still working on that part of the plot in my mind. One day they regain their homeland and her older brother becomes the king but… I haven’t got that part sorted out yet.
Thanks for the welcome. It was nice “meeting” you Abigail. 🙂 See you around.

May 18, 2021 at 10:56 am #99798Oh, he sounds beautiful!
Okay. Yeah, I had to read the Lord of the Rings before I watched the movies (along with my sister who was very impatient at how long it took me. By the time I’d almost finished the Fellowship she was just finishing the Return of the King 😆). So I read through them then and have been hooked ever since.
I would recommend Lois Walfrid Johnson more than the other author.
I’m glad you agree with me on Prince Caspian! And the Voyage of the Dawn Treader was almost worse. But not quite I suppose because they didn’t add a romance to it. But they do have nice ending songs with the credits. 😆 Yes, the special effects were really good. They get better and better. It’s crazy how real they look nowadays!
