*nods a thanks for closing the door; it’s a little crazy out there right now*

      yes; comfort series.
hmm.. I like Kate ( though that seems predictable, but I sort of understand her).

I’m gonna have to say the first one is my favorite.

Why I like it: It has a lot of good points for me. One thing is that it has the child hero thing, but it actually makes sense why they are the ones needed. There’s cleverness, ingenuity, friendship, loyalty, it’s just really interesting, I’m running out of things to say, but yeah ; it’s cool. I’m sure I’m forgetting something important but my brain is a little dead today;)

What do you think about the fourth one? And do you have answers to those questions?

HI!!! I AM STELLYBEAN!!! I’ve heard about KP for awhile from a friend, but I’m brand new here and ready to cause chaos! *laughter of one who lives on ice cream*

ANYHOODLES. I like your name. Sticks are great. You can hold them. You can throw them. You can juggle them unless you can’t juggle. You can eat them unless it disagrees with your stomach.

IIIIIII… HAVE A QUESTION. Would you consider yourself an analog clock, an hourglass, a candle, or a watch? Why? I dunno. It sounds like a cool question.

          Hi!

          Thanks!

Hmmmmm.. I’m leaning toward a watch. What would you be?

Hmmmm… probably an hourglass, since the sand is constantly shifting, all over the place, sometimes a mini tornado, and can randomly flip over at a moment’s notice. I dunno. It feels right. I don’t like sand though. It’s irritating and it gets everywhere. (If I completely botched that quote, I’M SORRYYYYYYY. 😭)

Maybe it’s not that crazy to say this, but I think she’s a pretty unique kid and I’ve always loved her for that. She’s so unapologetically energetic but practical at the same time. And she carries the team several times.

There’s cleverness, ingenuity, friendship, loyalty, it’s just really interesting, I’m running out of things to say, but yeah ; it’s cool.

The kids are a great friend group. The puzzle/riddle challenges were so fun to think about when I first read them.

I’m sure I’m forgetting something important but my brain is a little dead today;)

              Lol, you’re fine. :-p

What do you think about the fourth one?

Oh, I don’t remember much about that one. And that isn’t for lack of being excited to read it. I remember staying up past midnight to get access to it when it released, but the book itself didn’t have the same spunk as the other ones. It was rather depressing. I can’t even remember what happened in it, other than the fact that Constance wore green plaid, which was a highlight.

And do you have answers to those questions?

              Hm.

I can’t choose a favorite character. Reynie is the most relatable for sure, but they’re all interesting. As for my favorite book, it’s a tie between the first book and the prequel.

MBS was always my favorite MG series, but I’ve always had a hard time putting my reason into words. It’s not like the characters are the most ingenious characters ever, or the plot is the most twisty plot ever. But I can say with confidence that I’ve felt more kinship with the children in MBS than most other MG protagonists. (And I’m saying this as a 20-year-old, someone who is looking back at things.)

A friend of mine said the MBS kids are homeschooler-coded. That’s one good way of putting it. They don’t “get” other kids who have friends, have typical “television-loving” pastimes, or have a secular, sterilized way of viewing the world. In fact, I don’t think any of the MBS kids went to public school for the majority of their childhoods.

They also have strange interests, and a way of talking and socializing with each other, that is very neurodivergent-coded in my opinion. And maybe that’s just the writing style of the book, because all the characters are kooky. But I know a lot of neurodivergents and I think I could defend my opinion with specific examples.

              ...

Goodness, that was a rant you did not ask for. XD My apologies. It’s your turn to rant about something.

Someone may have asked this question before. But I’ll ask it. Do you have a current writing project, and what is it about?

Hello, Quarterstaffgirl! I don’t believe I have introduced myself yet. My name is QuicksilverWyvern (though you can just call me Quicksilver or Wyvern, I don’t mind) and I like to write mostly epic fantasy with hints of other genres. I also have a ridiculous amount of other hobbies, though I’m definitely not equally great at all of them, lol! My dream job is to be an author and eventually a business-owner.

What kind of genre do you write most often when you have time?

There once was a snail who was depressed and would do anything for his girlfriend. Didn't end well.

Greetings! I’m The Ducktator, also known as Abby. I write mostly fantasy, and I also enjoy reading, dancing, birding, history, and politics! And ducks, which you probably know since you’ve been stalking us. XD I too have a head full of half baked ideas.

                    Questions!

If you could fight a fictional character, who would it be?

What is your favorite kind of pancake?

Is the cybertruck ugly or cool?

What is an unserious hill you will die on?

If you could ride any animal what would it be and why?

                    Welcome to KP!

…. Sorry for my super slow response! I enjoyed your rant; no worries.

Do you have a current writing project, and what is it about?

i have a number of short stories that need to be finished, and one larger idea that I’m working on in my head.

                        Hi @quicksilverwyvern!

                        I have written mostly fantasy.

                        What’s your top two hobbies?

Hello @theducktator! Nice to meet you! Sorry it took me forever to respond:)

Favorite pancake would be my mom’s, with blueberries in it probably, and maple syrup. Are you a great pancake fan?

What I will say about cyber trucks is that they are better looking than cyber cars, and that is not a very high compliment I’m afraid.

Unserious hill. Hmm….. the one that comes to mind is the validity of the word: unabiquous.

I would just like to ride my horse, who I don’t currently ride.

                          What would you ride?
                          Thanks for the welcome!
