      Hello All!
      Wow, I should have checked this sooner! 🙂 Thank you for the fun welcome!
      I am glad you guys got the title, that makes me very happy. I’ve been hearing it since I was born from my dad, but I only got it when I was finally old enough to read the LOTR.

      @roelnahatfield @juliar @bluejay @sarahhoven B.R.I.G.H.T. Lights is a discipleship group for girls and young women. The organization was started by Sarah Mally, who wrote Before You Meet Prince Charming, as well as some other books. Here’s the link: http://tomorrowsforefathers.com/ With our recent moves, I am not currently in or leading one, but I hope to start another group as soon as I can as we get settled here in Arizona. (@sarahhoven we are in Cottonwood, north of Phoenix). It is just such a passion that God has given me, and is continuing to grow in me! I would be happy to give tips, from what I have learned, although I am no expert. Are there any specific questions? 🙂

      @dragonsnapper Yes, Rebelutionary is a mix of revelutionary and Rebel… it is a made up term, but not one that I myself made up. Have you heard of the book ‘Do Hard Things’ by Alex and Brett Harris? If not, you might want to go here: http://therebelution.com/. It is ‘teenagers rebelling against low expectations’. 😀

      @Ingrid Yes, I enjoy community theatre as well!! Some of the ones that my sister and I have done is the Pirates of Penzance, A Christmas Carol, and some different ones that our director wrote. Yes, I was snorkeling when my accidental sea turtle rise occurred. 🙂 The waves pushed us together, and at the time I was only about eight or nine years old. The giraffe kiss was… was WET.

      @Greta I like the British spelling of things better as well. Maybe it is because some of my favorite authors (C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Etc.) use that. Or because I have Australian friends who have been sharing their writing with me. Who knows? 🙂 Hmm.. my favorite books… well, I really like the authors I have already mentioned. I also really like the Ilyon Chronicles, the Wingfeather Saga, God’s Smuggler, Kisses From Katie, Bruchko, The Wars of the Realm series… 😉

      Okay, so I am curious, what was the origin of the term, ‘bestistest’? 😀

      Your sister in Christ,
      Sara

      P.S. Am I doing @person things wrong?

          Oh, and the tags (@Rebelutoinary, etc.) are not always the names under the avatars— mine is, but not everyone’s like that. Sarah Hoven is @Sarah-h, Rolena is @Rolena-Hatfield (punctuation is important) and Julia is @Julia-R, and so on. If you click on the person’s avatar it’ll take you to their page, where there tag is listed right below/beside their picture.

              @kate-flournoy: YES I have messed up on tags so many times! When I first joined, Hannah (@hisinstrument) wisely warned me… I guess mentioning the trickiness of tagging people should be mentioned more often when greeting a new member!

                @Rebelutoinary I read Do Hard Things when I was younger and I loved it! And I love The Wingfeather Saga! I’ve not read the Ilyon Chronicles yet, though I want to as soon as I can buy the books…

                As for bestistest…that is one of those things I hardly know anymore. I think someone made it up and now it’s something of a competition about who can greet newcomers first with that word. 😉 @daeus or @kate-flournoy might know the history of this unique word better.

                INTJ - Inhumane. No-feelings. Terrible. Judgment and doom on everyone.

                  @rebelutoinary I think I may have caused the competitiveness of the word bestistest. @daeus greeted me like that when I joined up and I began to say it to other people as they joined up (and I celebrated if I beat Daeus) and I think it went from there. 🙂
                  *gasp* You’ve read Kisses from Katie and Bruchko. Me too. I love them so much…
                  Tell me, with BRIGHT lights, is it for Christian girls or nonbelievers?
                  I’ve read Do Hard Things and Start Here. They are awesome books. Very encouraging and challenging.

                    @Rebelutoinary Hey, I’ve read Before You Meet Prince Charming! That book helped me a lot, as I read it right when I was going through a rough time with relationships and stuff. I live in Phoenix!!! I wonder how far away we are. How exactly do you lead a group? What kinds of things do you do? Once you get settled, how will you go about starting a new group in this new area? I am very curious now. 🙂

                      @sarah-h Yep, it’s a really good book, I have read it several times. Thankfully I was able to read it first before I had to deal with any guy situations, so that when the time came I knew where I stood. So where in Phoenix exactly do you live? Like north, south… That would be so cool if we could get together in person!

                      That’s a very broad question! Well, each meeting might include a bible study/lesson, discussion, fellowship, and then putting the lesson in action together. As to starting a new group, to some degree I need to wait until I can make connections with people. One of the major obstacles right now is that I don’t know a whole lot of people yet. Although, I so know a few, and I have been contemplating the idea of explaining it to the younger youth groups at church as one way to let people know what is going on. So… I don’t really know exactly how it will work out in this situation yet, but we’ll see! I think lots of prayer will be the key. 🙂

                        Nice list! Of the ones you listed, I’ve only read the Wingfeather Saga, which is absolutely amazing! A friend of mine gave me Bruchko this year for my birthday, but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. I guess I’ll have to remember to read it during Christmas break! 🙂

                          @gretald Yes, Bruchko is really good! I have read it many times. There is a sequel too, if you like it. Another of my favorites is Counted Worthy by Leah E. Good. 🙂 What are some of your favorites?

                            @Rebelutoinary I’m in Glendale presently, which is northwestish. Maybe one day I can come to your group! 🙂 I checked out the Bright Lights website, and noticed that there are groups near me in Surprise and Goodyear, too. I really liked what I saw on the website; girls in our culture need godly discipleship so badly right now. I’m a youth leader for sixth and seventh grade girls at my church, and I wonder if there’s any way I can get them involved in that. I wish I could afford to take them to one of the conferences, but since I can’t, at least I can learn and focus on becoming a better leader for them. I just became a youth leader last month, so if you have any suggestions or experiences you would like to share, I really want to hear them. So many of my girls come from broken homes, and I’m still learning how to reach them. I noticed that the website really focused on modesty. How do you go about teaching that? It’s such a foreign concept nowadays, even at church, and so far I’ve just tried the “lead by example” silent approach, because I don’t know how to talk about it.

                            @bluejay
                            I noticed that there are two Bright Lights groups just north of Melbourne. I wonder how close they are to you.

                                  @bluejay I just realized that I somehow managed to skip over your last message… oops! If you’re read Kisses from Katie and Bruchko… you REALLY should read God’s Smuggler! It is really good, one of my all time favorites. B.R.I.G.H.T. Lights is mainly for girls that are already Christians, although non-believers are apart of groups too. The idea is that to grow together in faith, to have good fellowship, iron sharpening iron between both leader and girl but also the girls together… since i have been both a leader and a girl in separate groups, I still don’t know which I learned the most from. The girls teach me so much even if I am supposed to be the once teaching them.

                                  @sarah-h
                                  Yes, there are quite a few groups in Phoenix. Sarah Mally is actually doing a conference there in the next month I think. Since you already there in person, and you wouldn’t have to pay for lodging, etc., you can email Sarah Mally, I’m sure if you are interested she could work something out. In the past conferences I have gone to they have always been willing to work with you with funds. I know that paying for a whole group sure can get costly! I don’t really know if I have any answers for you, though. 🙂 God has actually recently been bringing a lot of people into my life that have a whole lot of hurt and broken homes, but it is kind of a new thing to me still… I am in pretty much the same boat in that area. Modesty IS such a huge topic in our culture today, even, and especially among Christians. Example is really important, like you said, especially if you are in the ‘mentor’ position for girls. Speaking about it is another thing… knowing my personal convictions and understanding of it thoroughly has been really helpful. MU goal has always been to ‘Not wear anything that would distract my brothers and Christ and cause them to struggle in any way’, however, I know that doesn’t cover the point by point questions of “Is this to short, too small, too whatever”. Something the B.R.I.G.H.T. Lights ministry stresses is turning the hearts of the girls to their parents… and for me personally I have found their advice for every little specific thing to be enormously helpful. I guess that is what I would tell girls in my group. Idk! This also I realize got to be a very long explanation. Even if you aren’t doing B.R.I.G.H.T. Lights, they do sell a leader’s training guide that you might find helpful.

                                  Thanks for the welcome, Anne! What kinds of things do you like to do or write?
