Hey y’all, quick question about the school!

Are the schematics for the school campus kind of figured out, or are we allowed to just make them up as we go? Also, is this a boarding school situation, or something you drive to every morning? Because it might be fun for the charries to have roommates 🙂

@whalekeeper it’s a school u drive to 😊 roommate boarding school would have been cool but I’m afraid we didn’t do that, (we’ve got some home drama soooo 😂) but that would’ve been awesome! Maybe we should implement that later? Like the school changes later? Idk….

I tried to edit my previous post, but I think KP ate up my edit… here’s the charrie info, in case it doesn’t come through XD

            WhaleKeeper charries

Thorn: A 15-year-old girl in fancy outfits and huge hats, who is reasonably extroverted. She may have trouble seeing some of the stranger students, for a secret reason…

Calvin: Her 15-year-old best friend, who loves creepy ancient artifacts. Kind of intense with people he doesn’t know.

Marcel: A boy who looks like a 12-year-old, but is actually a magical being, kind of like a cherubim. He likes superheroes.

The Dogchild: A nameless 16-year-old boy, who serves Thorn however he can. Looks like a collie from the shoulders up. Quiet and charming. (Will join on the gang’s second day.)

@freedomwriter76 Aww, Bruce! I get it when people crash into you and you lose your glasses…….

Come to think of it, maybe I should add Hunter and Omega’s siblings in. Their brother Tech might end up being good friends with him……he kinda has a similar personality, minus the anger issues (he’s probably one of the least angry characters I know).

              Hunter and Omega

The two boys came closer. Hunter hissed and lashed his tail, fearful.

Adolphus, the older one (he was the older of the two right?), raised his hand in an awkward greeting. “Hello.”

“What do you want?” Omega stepped back also.

Dietrich–the other one–stopped a few feet from them. “We wish to apologize.”

Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.

@whalekeeper Ha, Calvin would love one location in my story…..

                …does he enjoy enchanted statue/guardians?

@keilah-h @freedomwriter76 @whalekeeper @sarafini @esther-c so….what if we did make it a boarding school situation? Maybe it’s announced? The school has been keeping a large surprise and renovation a secret and it’s revealed to be dorms?

We can then choose who has who has roommates! We can even cross charries with each other? Maybe Leo, Riker and November?

I’m thinking Paxton would still be stuck with his brothers because…obvious reasons, but yea maybe that could change later?

DUUUUUUDES, I had so much fun with this XD Believe it or not, it’s the first time I’ve written the characters all together. Hopefully they feel like a natural gang.

                      Thorn

Harriet Adelaide Thorn stood up, purple overcoat sailing in the breeze, one hand tightly gripping her huge, floppy white sun hat. “Calvin!

Someone tugged her dress, and she abruptly fell back onto the leather seat.

The Dogchild driving the convertible returned his hand to the wheel. “Watch the signs, Miss Harriet. I would rather not have a flailing pile of petticoats on my car hood.”

Thorn beamed, her face surrounded by a pale blue sky. “But I saw Cal in that car – right over there – at the last intersection!”

“I’m sure you did. We are going to the same school, after all.”

“Don’t you want him to see us?”

The car eased to a stop, blocked by traffic. The Dogchild looked back at her with stern blue eyes, his wispy fur glowing like honey in the hot sun. “I am sure Marcel has already seen both of us.”

“He’s probably got his nose in a newspaper crossword right now. As if he’d tell Calvin anything.”

The ride had so far been hot and sweaty, but invigorating, with the wind in her face, and her sky-tuned dress rippling over the car seats. Every sound – the growl of tires against pavement, the squealing of traffic, the never-ending hum of a cityscape setting – filled Thorn with an impatient joy.

It had been so long since she last saw Calvin. Two whole months. Sure, she had been anything but idle – a few cases had been solved. A centuries-old cold case on the moors, a discovery at Brightonby and another at Wellmet Bay. But none of her outings had felt the same without her loyal friend.

A telegram she had gotten from him revealed that his mother had recovered a little from her past relapse, and was well enough to visit the family sometime in the weeks to come.

She isn’t half as tired as she was, he had written. She even took the triplets and I to a park last Wednesday, and raced sailboats in the pond. Mine didn’t work properly – I think Rex sabotaged its engine on purpose. I nearly threw him into a vendor’s cotton candy machine.

Calvin was a lot like a cotton candy machine, in fact. Always whirling madly, as if on a sugar high.

I’ll tell you everything else when I find you at school. Say hi to that Dogchild for me, I guess.

                      Cal
                      Postscript

I liked your holiday photographs. Especially the one where you got a ribbon caught in your face. Bet you thought that was hair, huh? Cheers from Caroline.

Now that the summer was over, and the school year had already begun, Calvin’s parents had convinced the four to enroll in Destina Tasin, the most popular highschool in the area.

None of them needed much education – having gone through extensive training in archeological magic – but it would be a good experience. Out of the four, only Thorn felt any ease in community activities. She was a social butterfly. The very thought of high society brought a glow to her cheeks.

The boys, on the other hand, needed a good dose of reality.

The automobile slowed down. The Dogchild leaned back, steering in reverse. “Grab your bag, and keep your seatbelt on, if you wish to live. We’re parking.”

Thorn slipped her satchel on, tucked a salt-and-pepper curl behind her ear, and smoothed down her skirts, trying not to bounce up and down.

“Alright.” The Dogchild shut down the purring engine, and turned to Thorn. He put a hand on the girl’s knee, muzzle twitching with soft concern. “You have all your books?”

                      “Of course.”

“Schedule? Do you have the teachers’ names?”

Thorn waved a hand dismissively. “Even if I didn’t have my schedule, I could just ask you. You’re enrolled too, you know.”

The Dogchild straightened his snowy gray jacket. “I cannot come today, Miss Harriet. I have to bring my sisters to a recital.”

“What?” Thorn blinked. “But what if I can’t find Cal, or Marcel? I want to have fun, and if you were there, at least I’d get an inkling of that.”

He cocked his head fondly. “I’m glad my presence comforts you.”

Suddenly, a boy strode out from behind the line of cars, his chin jouncing up and down, as if scanning the area.

He was a short, dark-haired teen, in a midnight blue suit. Slightly overweight, he had a childlike roundness to his features. Over his shoulder hung a pin-encrusted backpack, and his flashing neon yellow sneakers slapped furiously against the concrete.

When his eyes fixed on Thorn’s, his frustrated expression melted into surprise, and then triumph.

“Cal!” Thorn tore out of the car, threw her bag to the ground and tackled him with a hug.

“Hey!” Calvin complained. “Chillax, Thorn. I can barely express my adoration with a floppy hat in my face.”

His jacket smelled like cinnamon and sunshine. Just as well – his step-mom loved baking.

Thorn pulled off the hat and threw her hands into the air. “Now you know how annoying ribbons can be, huh?”

“Yeah, among other things…” But Calvin smiled. His fierce black eyebrows and warm olive skin perfectly embodied his stormy nature.

                      Thorn hugged him again, tighter.

Behind him, another boy emerged – except this one was as small as a middle-grader. FBI sunglasses perched atop his hot pink hair, and he leaned against a nearby van, staring out at nothing in particular, as if made of casual steel.

                      “Marcel! What’s up?”

“The Perplexing Archives of Stuart McCarthy,” he said absently.

Thorn looked to Calvin for help, who shrugged his shoulders. “He just returned all those comic books I lent him over the summer.”

                      “All fourty-eight of them?”

Marcel blew a huge pink bubble, and slowly bit into it, with a pop.

“I’ll say. It’s like he has eyes on the back of his head – literally.”

“You two will be in the same classes, right?”

“I just hope they’ll admit him into our classes. He looks like a grubby twelve-year-old, for crying out loud… You do know they won’t admit you with this body, right, Marcel?”

“Maybe.” Marcel pulled his glasses on and crossed his arms. “As if I care. Can’t change, anyway. Operator’s shut down my line.”

“You’d better not talk like that around here,” Calvin cut in. “You’ll be branded as a weirdo. Worse, a geek.”

Marcel mimicked the older boy, clicking his right fist open and shut like the mouth of a puppet. “Branded as a weirdo, worse, a geek… wow, so scary. So you get to be a geek, but I’m too fragile or something? I’m literally a legendary cosmic force, contained within a child’s mind. I can literally blast any bully into a million pieces. You should be hiring me as a bodyguard, not teaching me Private School 101.”

Before Calvin could object, Thorn grabbed each boy’s arm and pulled them over the curb, and onto the sidewalk. “Guys, time to plaster on those sweet smiles, and make a good impression. Let’s go. Follow my lead.”

The Dogchild had started to step out of the car, but he froze, watching them go. His ears twitched, as if he were deciding whether or not to call after them.

But he didn’t. He looked down at his shoes, and breathed, “Be safe.”

Then he banged the car door shut, started the engine, and drove away.

@godlyfantasy12 lol…that would be amazing XD I’d love to do a boarding school like thing, sure!!!

Ehhh…it would take a lot of convincing for Frida/Felix and Pierce though to let their kids (the Avengers are not Pierce’s though, technically) stay if it was a boarding school…for obvious reasons 😬

I think that would be super cool, not to throw my idea into the air or anything. I was writing down dialogue, and Thorn mentioned that the boys would be roommates – and I just stopped, and was like, wait, is that a thing here?

@freedomwriter76 I think Lilith will obviously still allow parents free reign over their children considering she herself is a controlling parent so theirs that.
