Rory
He had jumped up at the sound, cold sweat streaking his back. Before flight or fight could fully settle over him, he caught sight of the intruder’s face. “Leo!” He gasped, nearly collapsing with relief.

His eyebrow rose as he took in the one-eyed kid and Rory’s panicked face. Was that…blood on the kid’s clothes? A bandage?
“Hey.” He let the door fall closed behind him. “You feeling up for tea?”
He crossed the room to dump the copper pipes in a cardboard box. Neither of the kids moved. But they probably were hungry. The tea kettle went on the single burner stovetop. He dug some mugs out of a jumbled cabinet and ham out of the fridge.
“Ham sandwiches sound good?”
A cup of tea is cheaper than therapy.

Dante stayed still, looking from Rory to the stranger to the kettle on the stove several times. After a moment he relaxed.

He squinted at the fridge for a moment before finding the half empty jar. “Sure. There’s some sort of cheese too if that sounds good. And…a tomato.”
The tomato looked a bit wilted and bruised, but still edible. He set it on the countertop before digging in the drawer for a knife.
“Want your bread toasted?”

“Yes, please.” His stomach was starting to growl at the idea of food. He slowly shifted around until he was sitting up, and watched the food on the counter hungrily.

Rory
He had stood there watching Leo through most of the interaction. Now he found himself edging up to the older boy, casting nervous glances around the room. He reached Leo’s side, touched his arm to assure himself that he was really there, and then leaned back into the corner, feeling much better.

Nighttime people seem to be preoccupied with thoughts of sandwiches. As a nighttime person, I can relate.

Yes, Koshka’s rp did make me a bit hungry. I just pulled an all nighter for no reason in particular and so my stomach is complaining.
Ahh! What is wrong with you night time people. ?
That’s something I ask myself pretty much every day.
