@esther-c Characters still attend class and do normal stuff when their authors aren’t writing for them. They just fade into the background, not freeze in place, lol. Unless you want to write that they were doing something else that whole time.

If you want, I can give you a summary of recent events if you do want to jump back in

@everyone would people be ok with making classes end early today to give the students time to get ready and to make the dance come quicker? I’m thinking one more class period, lunch, and then one last class.

        Sounds perfect to me

Ok. Sorry this took a bit. I’ve written several RPs, but deleted all of them. XD

          Viktor

That had been fun. Viktor helped Hugo order their samples into the box the teacher had given them, listening with a distant smile to the conversations around him. It was nice to listen to the other two boys talk and know he could join in but could stay quiet too. Not that they were talking now, but it was still nice.

The other students must have been near done. They buzzed importantly back and forth between desks. At one point a sample got hurled across the room – so it could be compared with another group’s, reputedly – although the teacher confiscated it before it could be sent back the same way. All very scientific, he was sure.

Not that science had ever been his best subject.

“Hey, forget your gloves?” A voice quipped behind him. He glanced back to see what was going on, only to find himself the object of attention for a group of seventh graders. One in the back laughed. It made the blood flush to Viktor’s face as their comment clicked in place. He narrowed his eyes coldly.

          “No.”

Sheepish titters. Viktor turned back, narrowly avoiding bumping Lois in the process which only set his teeth more on edge. The other boy went on with his art, studiously undisturbed.

Viktor swallowed back the tightness in his throat. The teacher’s clicking heels silenced the group behind them.

He glanced at Hugo and coughed up a laugh and a shrug.

“Lovely environment here, yes? What class do you have after this?”

You have listened to fears, child. Come, let me breathe on you... Are you brave again? -Aslan

                Hugo

“Physical education. All the high school kids will be there.” Hugo waited until Viktor looked up from his desk again. He bent over so their faces were on the same level, and studied the other boy’s eyes. “Do people normally badger you like that?”

Can I just say – these three boys feel like they have similar denominators from an aesthetic side, and I’m all for it.

I’m good with that! It’s a fun group of expected differences and surprising similarities.

                    @loopylin
That would be interesting. ? I have a feeling she fights rough.

I guess I should answer Hugo’s question, lol.

                    Viktor

“Physical education. All the high school kids will be there.” Hugo said it lightly, but there was a pause at the end that made Viktor look away from the line he was tracing along his desk. His eyes met Hugo’s and the other boy leaned down like he could block out everything else in the room. “Do people normally badger you like that?”

Viktor swallowed. It was an odd reflex that had something to do with the sudden spin of his mind. He blinked, then leveled his gaze into the other boy’s.

“Normally, no. Often? Yes. I haven’t fit anywhere since I was little. Foster kid stuff.” He dropped his focus back to his desk again. His eraser had left little pills of rubber across the hard plastic surface. He picked them up absently, one by one. They rolled nicely together between his fingers. It brought his heart rate down, which was important. Last time he got passionate about something he hit someone. Admittedly, it had been a rude guy at the store and Viktor’s sister was scared.

“There’s something different about everyone. Mine are just… Obvious. They badger me less when my cousin is around. He fits in here… sort of. Maybe he just frightens them. He did play in their sports for a little while – people like that.  Do you like PE?”

He leaned back to include Lois in the conversation, although the other boy was busy. It was hard to tell if he had been listening or if his mind was somewhere else entirely.

Is it just me, or am I making this kid scatterbrained? I might need to go refresh on Meyers Briggs.

                      Lois

“Not particularly,” Lois answered, assuming the question was directed at both of them. He forced himself to stop drawing and set down his pen, then his hid his arm with his sleeve again. He gave the kids who had spoken to Viktor a cold look, which none of them noticed. Then he looked at Viktor. “You seem to fit in well enough with us. Don’t worry about them.”

I want to see a book where when a character does that it actually makes ice start growing on the other person. Just something that comes to me when I see that phrase.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music

Part 2 of the google doc copy is done! The link will be in my profile for a bit. The formatting and fonts are a bit weird at the moment, but I plan on fixing that later. Only 165 pages left to go!

@loopylin Those are very interesting statistics. I almost wish we could publish some of this material… @whalekeeper

I’ll go ahead and restart this since I’m postponing doing what I’m supposed to work on…

don’t remember if the class is over. I’ll just end it if that’s ok with y’all. XD

                                  Viktor

The grin that broke out was impossible to keep back. He shoved the rest of his things into his bag.

                                  “Thanks.”

The teacher took their lab report and directed Lois to leave the samples in the box on their desk. The three boys filed out into the hall with the other students who had finished early. The students who had annoyed Viktor were still busy with their project. He bounced on his toes a few times just to make sure they still worked.

The old, faded tiling contrasted with the updated crown molding, but it never looked better to Viktor. He adjusted his backpack to weigh on his shoulders evenly.

“Which way, then? left or right?”
