Alright moving on, let’s get this day wrapped up

          @loopylin

          Seb

          “Shift’s up!”

One of the kitchen hands yelled in their direction, causing all three kids to jump. Soap suds fluttered to the floor.

Seb dropped what he was about to say. He grabbed the puppy and handed it to Ellie, covering it with a towel. “We don’t want to lose him, right? You take him tonight. It’s best if Blackjack lives like a moving target.”

Before they could say no, Seb gave them both a rigorous salute, and jogged off and out of the cafeteria.

          Barnes

Leo took care of Rory. Barnes stood up and dropped her number card on the kitchen table. She leaned against a far wall, watching, before she heard a small noise.

Quincy dawdled at a doorway, sleepy, but still curious. He must have evaded his sister for a few precious seconds. When he noticed the tall woman hulking over his path of sight, he let out a small gasp.

“What are you looking at?” Barnes whispered accusingly.

Quincy just stared. Like most kids, it took a while for him to process whether her head was from a human or a mannequin.

Barnes lifted her mask up and down. “Me. Still me. Me again.”

The last time Lucille did this, a glimmer struck her gray eyes, and she stuck out her tongue.

The boy giggled, a little nervous. He eyed her for a few more seconds, then slowly toddled away, presumably back to his bedroom.

Well, she wasn’t doing the kid any more good by staying. Barnes crossed her arms and shifted back to check the young men.

          Rory was settled.

“Ma’am?” Leo spoke up. “Thank you again for your help today. Anything I can do for you?”

“May I wrap one of the ice packs to my shoulder?”

          “Of course.”

“If you need anything, call. And I will try to set up a radio channel to connect with your tech. Later.” She treated her wound, and secured a thin pack of ice against it. She threw on her coat. “Take care of your family.”

She closed the door on Leo’s thankful smile.

Outside, she headed for the nearest bus stop, limping a little. Twilight chattered in the far reaches of the city. The chill breeze brought a slight bit of sensation to her cheeks.

Once in a while, she held her hand up to the air, and marveled at the strange grayish white aura emulated from her body. Her own unsaturated world mixed with the air of this world. If only it was easy to mix with people.

The bus arrived. Lucille took a deep breath, and walked in with the last spring in her step she could muster.

And yeah, I’m good if the library group are up at the crack of dawn. Makes sense if they’re studying.

I also debated the ‘could actually kill you’ because could he actually? My sister said Rory would pop emotionally before killing anybody. (Not meaning he is weak, Ellette, just that he wouldn’t do it.)

              He’s killed several times.

              We don’t talk about that.

I’m good with morning. You’ll have to wake Rory up because he’s dead out.

Alright, I guess since we’re all moving it to morning, I guess I’ll have Rax and Sypher meet.

                            Rax and Ben

“Come on Ben!” Rax was pushing through the crowd trying to get to the door. He was excited, this would be his first time in a school of any sort, let alone learning.

“Hold on Master Rax!” Ben was less excited since he was the one with the big backpack trying to go through the crowd of people. “Do you even know where you’re going?”

“Nope.” But Rax didn’t care one bit in the world. Rax was so excited, and standing at 6′ 2”, that he couldn’t see a small, blue skinned lad. Rax with his long strides, knocked him over. “Woah! Sorry about that, are you alright?”

                              Sypher

The blow had sent him tumbling to the pavement, a sudden pool of water softening his landing. The sprite slowly picked himself up and dusted the droplets off. His shoulders relaxed as the puddle evaporated back into vapor.

The towering figure was still there along with…too many other people. A darker blue flush crept up the back of Syph’s neck. He tugged at his sash, forced in a deep breath, shuddered.

“Better than could be expected.” His lips pinched into a firm line. He sent a pale glance up at the young man. Youth. Whatever these hulking people were called. “But as I have no idea how you touch your own toes, I’ll not hold it against you.”

He gave a polite bow and angled himself discreetly out of the young giant’s way.

                                Rax and Ben

Rax looked at the curious man, or whatever he was. I wonder if he’s a water mage. He saw the little guy give him room to walk. “Oh, thank you, I am Rax, and this is Ben.” Ben gave a wave with his metallic arm. “What is your name?”

                                  Sypher

Rax. Ben. These must be their short names. Sypher glanced between the two strangers, his lips pressed in a thin blue line.

Then he blinked and looked away. Maybe these people were strange, but this place was even stranger, so what else was a sprite to expect?

“Syph. You may call me Syph.” He waved a hand to the vaulted door before them. “Are you attending classes here?”

He side stepped a group of chatting young people, narrowly avoiding being smacked by someone’s swinging backpack. Water droplets beaded in the air around him. He sucked in a breath and let his core relax until they vanished back into vapor.

“Maybe we should get inside? Although, that is where everyone is going…” He grimaced. The meadow school was sounding better every minute. Don’t be a guppie.
