I’m probably misunderstanding why you’re frustrated. Is it that both versions of Seb (new and old) feel wrong to write?
Maybe you could just treat him like a new character and play around a bit without worrying too much about getting him right? Idk

Man is born for the fight, to be forged and molded into a sharper, finer, stronger image of God
December 31, 2024 at 9:04 am #193278I like the new version. It’s just a matter of not wanting to to change the tone of roleplaying be ause I feel like it’s really silly for other people to read for some reason. But you’re right, nobody is going to care that much. And Marcel changed for the better too.
Sorry if the way Im role playing is frustrating at all
No no no, you’re totally good. I don’t think you’ve ever written a frustrating roleplay. 🙂
Hehehehehehehe ikr

“Leo, why did you come? There’s nothing left. I’m tired of running and I’ve got nothing else to live for.” The kid’s eyes were dull with too much pain.
Leo felt his throat seize up, but he fought it down. Combed Rory’s hair away from his sweat flushed forehead. Night was shadowing the church around them, but Leo could still see the blood seeping through the boy’s shirt from unknown scrapes. His breath was uneven, whether from pain or emotion Leo couldn’t tell. Probably both. He closed his eyes for a moment and sighed.
“Rory, no. You don’t have much to live for. But you don’t have anything to die for either, not something that really matters.” He kept smoothing back the boy’s dark hair. “And there is still something left, Rory. There’s your soul. And that’s enough for God Himself to come to Earth and find you.”
Leo dropped a hand to Rory’s shoulder, caught his gaze and gave a light squeeze. “That’s why I came. You can’t see your soul, just like you can’t see your own face without a mirror. But you can feel it. Right now it’s ragged and starved and broken, but that soul is still the most precious thing you have; it’s worth more than the universe of stars, Rory. Worth more than everything to the God who made you.
“Now, where are you hurt? And don’t you dare try to lie and say something isn’t as bad as it really is.” he called up a smile as he slid his wadded up jacket under the boy’s head.

Rory
Something inside Rory broke at Leo’s words and tears spilled down his face. Not the violent, desperate, broken sobs he had cried before, but gentle tears. The way Leo’s hand rested on the shoulder, the way it had felt against his forehead–– Rory had never known anything like the kindness and… and love that poured from this older boy.
there is still something left, Rory. There’s your soul. And that’s enough for God Himself to come to Earth and find you Leo’s words echoed through his mind. Worth more than the universe of stars, Rory. Worth more than everything to the God who made you…
The tears continued to stream down Rory’s cheeks and a sob caught in his throat. “I’m sorry,” he choked out. “I’m sorry.” He didn’t know why he was saying it, but in that moment everything was crashing down on him. All the pain he had gone through, all the darkness, all the hurt…. and yet Leo’s hand was there. His kindness and love were there. He had come back. After everything, he had come after Rory. He had kept coming and kept coming, he hadn’t given up. He had risked his own life for practically a stranger. Rory didn’t know what to do, and he wished he could just die… yet not. No, there was something inside of him. A desperate longing to live. Really live. Live as never before. Live for something…. for someone. Someone he could die for.
Rory rolled over and grabbed Leo’s arm in a desperate grip. “Help me, Leo! Please help me!” he begged desperately.

*Shows Leo your message*
Leo: *confusion*
(Also, this wasn’t easy to write without going on a 300 page praise break at the end. XD)
Leo
Rory’s fingers dug into his armor as much as was possible. Leo’s eyes went wide. Panic flared. There wasn’t a lot of blood, but how much could be hiding in the dark? How much pain was the kid in? What was–was he–? Leo’s stomach caved. Dear Lord, help me. I-
His internal prayer broke off as the look in Rory’s year streaked face finally registered. Hunger, not physical agony. Leo’s sucked in a deep breath and gave a shaky smile. His voice cracked a little at the edges. “Of course, kid. Of course. Here, take my hand.”
He eased the boy’s fingers from his arm and settled his other hand on Rory’s shoulder. He closed his eyes for a moment, once more looking for the words he didn’t know to say. “We’ve all messed up in life and done evil things and wrong things –yes, me too kid. That separates is from God, which leaves holes in us, and ultimately leads us to death and Hell.” He gripped his shoulder.
“But God came to Earth as a man named Jesus so He could pay that price for us. And He did.” Leo looked up at the Good Shepherd above them, and then to the next window’s depiction of the prodigal son.
“God knows what pain is like, Rory. Pain, loneliness, fear, all of it. He loves you, and if you’ll let him, He’ll put the broken pieces of your soul together. Do you want that?”

Rory followed Leo’s gaze and saw the picture of a young man. He looked weary and depressed. He was making his way down a dusty road, his head bowed. But, just beyond him, a man was running down the front walk of a grand mansion, his arms open wide. Rory leaned on his arm, and his eyes drifted back to the picture of the shepherd. He swallowed hard and looked up at Leo. “I… I…” he trailed off. Something was holding him back. Confusion? fear? He wasn’t sure. He was filled with a desperate longing, but he wasn’t ready. Not yet.
Weariness overcame him and he wavered, catching himself on braced arms. He was so tired… and dizzy. “Leo… can we go home?” he whispered, hardly even noticing that there was no where for him to call home. Home. What a wonderful word. “I want to go home,” he whispered again.

Alarm flashed behind Leo’s eyes like a rotating siren. He eased Rory back down and cupped the boy’s face in his hands. “Yes, I’ll take you home. But, Rory! Stay with me. Where are you hurt?”
He gave him a gentle shake to get those hazy green eyes to focus.

Fork the GorkJanuary 2, 2025 at 7:38 pm #193482“I… I don’t know where… all over…” Rory blinked several times. Leo’s hands were against his face. “I feel sick,” Rory grimaced. He wasn’t sure if it was the emotions, the spent adrenaline, or the amount of times he had been hit. “The Agents had me back there,” he said slowly. He rubbed the back of his hand over his eyes, smearing blood across his face. He looked down at his palms and saw they were bleeding and covered in tiny sand and grit from the road. “I had to let them rough me up. They thought I was you and I needed them to let down their guard.” He shrugged and blinked again. “I’m thirsty.”

His teeth grit together against the fury rising up the back of his throat. Thirsty. He could fix that.
“I’ll get you water, but don’t you dare go to sleep on me, Kid.” He used Rory’s shirt collar to wipe the blood from his cheek, then stumbled to his feet.
First, to find water. There, a sign for a bathroom just outside the main sanctuary. He darted towards it, skimming the area for anything to use as a cup.
Paper. A whole stack of creamy white paper, probably left for guests to leave their names or prayer requests. He took a few sheets as he passed, frantically folding the paper as he shoved open the bathroom door with his shoulder. He nearly wrenched the faucet handle off turning the water on.
Three seconds later he slipped back into the sanctuary cold water in hand.
“Rory? Ah, good.” Leo smiled as the boy blinked up at him. He dropped back to his knees beside him slipped and arm behind Rory’s shoulders. “Careful, it’s kinda cold.”
He got about half the cup into the kid and decided that was enough. Rory really didn’t need drowning. Leo carefully set the flimsy paper cup down beside his helmet. He eased off his gauntlets.
“I’m going to see what I can do for those scapes now, if you don’t mind. I’m sorry if this hurts.” He flicked on a small but adequate flashlight, and quickly checked the boy over before setting to work. Cold water and fabric scraps couldn’t go very far to fix things, but he managed to clean most of the blood up.
Leo helped Rory into his jacket, and then eased him up to sit against the wall.
“Look, kid. I can and will carry you home, if needed. Otherwise we’ll be borrowing someone’s parked car. How do you feel?”
(Or we could ask Barnes for help with borrowing a car…she might like that…)
