Paxton
Paxton’s heart raced in his chest.
This had been a bad idea…
He…he should’ve stayed home…
They’d find out…they always did. And then…
“Hey.” Paxton jumped. November jumped. They both stared at each other for a moment, and then, November smiled, a small laugh escaping.
“Heh…sorry…” he flushed pink, “I ah…just thought I’d check on you! Y-You know…” He pursed his lips, glancing away and then back at him. They both continued to stare at each other.
“Well…ah…this is awkward…” November mused, hand running through his hair.
Paxton blinked. His eyes landed on November’s sling and he paled, gripping his shirtfront.
November tilted his head, following his gaze. “Oh! Yea…” He shrugged, eyes returning to the now pale boy. His eyes widened. He made a small gasping sound, “Y-You don’t think I blame you? Right? I-I mean, yea your brother did it but-ah that came out wrong, sorry, sorry, I just meant…um…”
Paxton raised a brow, shoulders relaxing. He tilted his head, studying the curly haired young man.
He acted about as nervous as Paxton felt.
“Wh-What I mean is-“ Paxton stopped him, placing a gentle hand on his knee. November blinked, looking up at the kid. He smiled sweetly.
“Heh….thanks. Guess I was kind of rambling there for a minute, huh? Once I get started it’s…kinda hard for me to stop. My dad says I wouldn’t be able to keep my mouth shut even if he taped it,” November chuckled, but…it seemed forced.
Then again, Paxton wasn’t exactly an expert on laughter. Still, he gave a small smile back.
He…knew a bit of what that felt like. Maybe not to talk a lot. But…
To be uncomfortable with how you talked…
“Paxton! Hey! You came!” A voice called from another table. Paxton leaned over, looking past November.
Wolfgang was waving at him.
Paxton smiled slightly and then waved. Wolfgang motioned for him to come over.
Paxton glanced at Ara.
She smiled, “That’s up to you, Paxton.”
Paxton blinked. He…wasn’t used to having choices…
He looked back at Wolfgang, then slowly rose from the table, making his way over to them.

Lol. Yeah…my younger brother will probably be taller than me before too long, I’m sure of it. xD I already knew he’d be the tallest, but still…XD
Leo, we feel you, brother. XD
Leo ends up being the shortest, along with Reuben (tho I’m thinking about making Reuben a half-inch taller or an inch taller), even in the actual book. And Jakob!? Oh my gosh, that boy gets to 6’4!!!! XD Like, right now, he’s…oh, 15? And he’s probably already over 6′ tall in this AU…lol. xD
Riker
Riker smiled faintly, as Angelina and Jocelyn got immersed in an ecstatic conversation.
Riker pulled out his phone and looked at it, at the song he was still trying to finish.
His fingers itched for his guitar strings, but he’d promised Angelina he’d come to this club…and Jennie…she seemed to want them to come too.
Riker sighed and slipped his phone back into his jacket pocket.
Maybe it would help him.
But probably not.
(OOH! Y’alll!!!! I have three others that need to go here that I haven’t introduced!!! OOH…now I have more ideas!!!)
Adriene, Ryan, & Kursk
She flipped her light brown hair behind her back with a roll of her eyes. “I can’t believe my parents want me to come here.”
“Oh, it’s not zat bad, Adriene, is it?” Kursk asked with a grin, brushing a strand of his bright blonde hair behind his ear.
“Yes. It is. It’s my first day at school, my parents find out about the club, and want me to come. I’m not going to talk to all these strangers.”
Kursk shrugged. “Think and do v’hat you vant. I’m here mostly for ze food.”
Adriene rolled her eyes.
Man, did Kursk eat a lot.
“Adriene, look on the bright side. At least we’re together.” Ryan said with a grin, nudging her in the side.
Adriene nudged back. “Yeah, and with a whole bunch of strangers.” She rolled her eyes again, clutching her purse strap closer to her body.
“Aww, come on, maybe you’ll need this.” Ryan said with a wink, ever trying to be the optimistic one.
“I don’t know why they want me to come here.”
“Maybe your anger issues…?”
She shot Ryan a glare, and he held up his hands. “Okay…okay…wow, grouchy.”
Kursk chuckled.
Adriene rolled her eyes.
Boys.
Of course, they both understood her more than anyone else did.
She had opened up to both of them, though she opened up to Ryan a bit more, but still. They were the only people she let a little close.
She pushed everyone else away, and she’d tried to do the same to them, but it hadn’t worked.
And now…she was glad she hadn’t pushed them away.
Even if she never said that out loud.
But they both understood her.
She did know why her parents were sending her here.
Anger issues.
Greif.
Depression.
All three of those things.
All she had been dealing with since Andre’s death.
Adriene felt the familiar sting of pain, so she shoved it away along with the tears.
She hadn’t cried once since he’d died.
She refused to let herself.
Ryan and Kursk both said that wasn’t healthy, as did Ryan’s older sister, Helen, who Adriene looked up to, but she wasn’t convinced.
If she started crying…she’d never stop.
She turned to them. “Come on, let’s get inside and get this over with.”

Wolfgang
Paxton walked over, and Wolfgang continued to grin and wave. “Hey, Paxton!!! Welcome over! Here, you can sit right here, if you want!”
He motioned to the chair beside him and Leo, and Paxton smiled and sat down.
Wolfgang stood and gave him a hug. “Nice to see you, Pax! Did you come with Arabella? Are you ready to have some fun!?”
He sat back down, but, maybe too excited, missed, and almost fell flat on his face or backside, but Leo grabbed him, stopping him from falling. “Careful, Wolf-O, you almost fell.”
Wolfgang laughed and sat down, partially beside Leo, partially on top of him, and Leo laughed too.
Wolfgang smiled. “Whoops.” He turned back to Paxton with a grin. “Glad you’re here, Pax!”
(yes, Paxton has a nickname from Wolfgang now. XD)

Paxton
Paxton couldn’t help the laugh that escaped at Wolfgang’s excitement. The boy’s smile and happiness was catching, washing away most of Paxton’s anxieties.
“We’re glad you decided to come.” Joshua smiled.
“I’m ready to eat!” Wolfgang grinned, leaning over the table. “What about you?”
Paxton tilted his head, realizing he was in fact a bit hungry. He nodded, folding his hands in his lap.
“Oh! Pax! I don’t think we introduced you to our cousin, Alec!” Wolfgang wrapped his arm around Paxton’s shoulder and then pointed to a young man Paxton recognized from earlier at school. Paxton waved shyly.
“And this is Julius,” Jakob pointed to another young man, who Paxton didn’t recognize.
“Nice to meet you, Paxton.” Julius smiled.
Paxton nodded a greeting.
The door opened, revealing three more figures, all strangers, though Paxton was sure he’d passed them in class earlier that morning.
One, a girl, did not look at all happy to be there.
Apparently, Nyx wasn’t alone in his sentiments.

So…I was thinking since there isn’t really an army type thing…
How about Hitchens is head of a gang? Outside of school? And Dawson has been in it since he was young, and Nathan since he was just a boy.
And Hitchens…well…he’s the same as always. Cruel, harsh and sadistic.
And yea they go to the school.
Plus, it could even tie into where Alwin…gets his stuff if @elishavet-pidyon wants it too.
(Hitchens maybe doesn’t go to school cuz he just doesn’t care? Idk 😂) but Edrich and Aramis and them could still know about him and his gang.
So yea…Dawson and Nathan, others in the gang. They steal, do things for Hitchens.
And failure?
well…u don’t fail…
otherwise…ah…u can guess what might happen…
Also Arthur would understand where they come from…cuz he’s been in that life and still sorta has ties/shadows from it.
and actually…he’d probably know Hitchens…from when he was a boy.

The sidewalk was hard and my feet yearned for the soft dirt around the orphanage. Still, I kept up a vigorous pace. I’d be late if I didn’t hustle. My backpack kept shifting with each step, numbly jarring my back, but I had a rythum, and it worked. In a few more seconds I was within sight of door into the PH club. Project Hope. Such a little word.
Oh why had I come? I didn’t need hope; I had enough problems. That was for people who wouldn’t buckle down and face reality. Which was fine. I understood.
I didn’t want to either.
The door eased open slightly, and I slipped in desperately avoiding notice. I knew why I was here, really, if I was honest with myself.
I wanted, needed, that little word.
