Mr. Gregory
“I swear, this school will be the death of me.” Gregory pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. “Not war, not old age, but children.”
He looked up at the four armed janitor. Liko seemed nervous in Gregory’s presence despite being almost a foot taller than him. He kept fidgeting and shuffling his feet.
“Do you at least know which students they were?” Mr. Gregory asked.
“No. I, uh,” Liko coughed. “I didn’t see their faces.”
“Well, then,” Gregory pulled out some keys from his desk drawer and gave them to Liko. “Make it quick, and be sure to bring those back.”
Liko nodded and headed for the door. “Okay. Er, yes sir. I mean….. thanks.” He left as quickly as he could.
(He’s going to go fix the power, but I’ll wait for everyone to finish their fun in the dark before he actually does.)

Dante
“Fire is freedom from everything, I think. A blank slate. Neatly erases all your circumstances in a blaze of glory.” He flung his arms out dramatically and grinned. Then his smile faded and he looked away.
“Some things don’t deserve to be erased, though.” There was a pause. Then his face lit up again.
“…Like my hat.” He smiled playfully at Sebastian. “Or your hat.”
He reached over and tipped up the brim of Seb’s hat to see his face. Then he cocked his head to one side, surprised.
“Hey, what happened to your head?”

“That was close.” Eddie’s whisper tickled Ellie’s ear. Ellie leaned away and scowled.
“You’re close.”
The two girls were hiding in yet another closet. This one was smaller this time, more like a locker or cubby for storing school supplies.
Ed’s tail brushed the disgruntled Ellie in the face as she tried shuffling around.
“Well ‘s not like there’s very much room in–”
Ellie shushed her aggressively.
Peering through a crack in the door, Ellie could see out into the math teacher’s office. It was empty.
“Did she leave?” Eddie wiggled over to where she could also see out.
“Oh, coast is clear let’s go!” She quickly shoved open the door and dashed out, accompanied by a flurry of graph paper. Ellie fell out behind her.
By the time she got back on her feet, Eddie was already digging through desk drawers.
“No. No. Boring. Nope.” She tugged on one of the bottom drawers, and her eyebrows shot up in surprise. “This one’s locked. Why would she lock it?”
“Because she’s smart?” Ellie came over and examined it.
“Not smart enough to make it the top drawer.”
“That’s true.”
Together, the twins carefully pulled the drawer above the locked one completely out, and set it down on the floor. Then Ellie reached down through the open space and felt around. She pulled out her wristband and Sebastian’s phone. Then she put her arm back in and frowned.
“What?”
“Chase’s phone. It’s not here. I was going to get it for him.”
“Maybe Mrs Moore gave it back?”
“Maybe? I guess it doesn’t matter. We should go.” She held up Seb’s phone. “I’ll just return this next time we see him at class or lunch or something.”

I promise I’ll get on and RP sometime soon. 😭 I just haven’t felt like it, but it’s been too long and I seriously need to RP again. 🤦🏻♀️

“Come now!” Seb puffed quietly. “It isn’t that bad… is it?”
“If you call a huge bruise normal.”
The boy patted his own face a few times, trying to gauge how big it was, and what his definition of bad was. It felt like a candied apple had grown over his left eye.
“I hit myself with a hairbrush. On purpose.” Out loud, the words sounded ridiculous, and Seb giggled half heartedly. “It sounds insane. Objectively speaking, it makes me stronger. Personally speaking, I don’t know why I did it. Hitting my head or hurling dynamite doesn’t bother me, and one side of me is bothered by my unbotheredness.”
Ha. Another contradiction. But it didn’t cheer him up as much as before.
He pulled his legs in, and tucked his face into his knees, staring at nothing. “I just… didn’t care. Something tells me nothing is real. Everything is imaginary.”

April 7, 2024 at 3:01 pm #178704Who owns the Math teacher? Cuz I was wondering if it would be interesting if she came across Chase. Since @savannah_grace2009 is not really active rn, I can’t really have him actually find Sef like he wanted, but I can’t think of something else for him to do.

April 7, 2024 at 3:13 pm #178705I made her up but she’s an NPC, so go ahead. She might be hard to find in the dark though XD

April 7, 2024 at 4:15 pm #178706Chase
Chase cowered, hugging himself as he made his way through a small crowd of both students and teachers. Guessing by everyone’s height, he supposed Sef could be in this group. They looked the same age, and they all were mostly quieter kids waiting for the power to come back on. Chase stopped to listen for the voices of a couple students talking with the teacher’s to ease their nerves. None of them sounded like Sef. But would Sef talk to a teacher? No. Not if she was like him. Chase began walking and weaving through again, eyes barely looking past his hoodie to find Sef.
Someone grabbed his sleeve, and pulled him away from the other students. Chase resisted, but found the person stronger than he after he had used his energy to shift last night.
“Master Duke, as soon as the lights turn on again, I am taking you to the principal! I thought I said you couldn’t have your phone until the end of the day, not to mention getting out of detention! You are in deep trouble young man.” She groped for Chase’s phone, which he kept out of reach. After a few tries she huffed. “Fine. Keep it. The principal will take it away when we get there.” She held tight to his arm, closing in tighter as he struggled.
Something inside Chase clicked. It was like a nightmare playing out all over again. There was someone he needed to protect, and someone holding him back. Whether he literally saw the teacher as his father in that moment, or merely compared the woman to him and reacted, I don’t know. All I know is that he kicked her, and when she grew angry and tried to grab him with both hands, he swung around, shining his light in her eyes. She wouldn’t let go the hand tightly clasped around his arm, so he bit her wrist. She let go, and he dashed off as her scream traveled through the hallway. Chase heard her sobbing behind him, reporting to a male teacher who began pursuit of Chase.
To Chase, it was like his old life was going to begin all over again.
The scuffle. The pursuit. Then the beating.
I can’t go find Sef now; they’d just hurt her too.
He dashed down the halls, spun around the corner and tripped over a mound of stuff. His phone went flying out of his hand and skidded across the floor. Something sharp grazed his skin just above his eye, but he got up again, and went to go on,only to trip once again.
Why do I keep tripping?
Either this is the barricade (sorry if I’m intruding, I’m just kinda bored)or a bunch of backpacks and stuff students left around. Your choice.

Dante
Dante thought about Seb’s words, then quickly decided he didn’t like thinking about them. Oddly, he kinda understood. He stared at the same nothing as his friend.
A loud pounding on the door behind him snapped him out of it. He hopped to his feet and stood in front of Seb, arms crossed.
“You think too much. Come on, let’s go do something exciting. And, um, get you an ice pack or something. I’m not ready to let myself off this adrenaline high just yet.”
The sound of pounding footsteps snatched Dante’s attention away from the conversation. A figure appeared around the corner and promptly tripped over a desk leg. Then he got back up and tripped again over Dante’s foot.
“Whoa, there.”
Dante reached down and grabbed the boy by the arm to help him to his feet, but was met with struggling and kicking. Dante let go and held up his hands to show he meant no harm.
“Hey, calm down, kid. Just trying to help you up.”

April 7, 2024 at 6:14 pm #178720Trying again
Chase
“Hey, calm down, kid. Just trying to help you up.”
Chase tried to say he was sorry but all that would come out were weak vocalizations that made no sense. He acted like a scared rabbit, his breathing fast and shallow, his eyes darting, and his body shaking.
Friend or foe? Who is this?
Heavy footfalls came down the hallway as the man pursuing Chase came nearer.
I can’t run forever. The blows will fall sooner or later.
Chase didn’t know what to do. Either stay and get the beating over with sooner or run until he couldn’t anymore and then get beaten. He swallowed, struggling over the decision just as the teacher skidded around the corner less gracefully and speedy as Chase.
“Hey, you!”
And Idk how to continue
Wyoh ate my post!

April 7, 2024 at 9:11 pm #178723I think this school needs help. Like a student council or somethin.
Sebzter
Chase, the detention boy, appeared once more. He was out of breath and quite out of his mind.
As the teacher came towards them, with less enthusiasm than exhaustion, Seb noted the slight vibration coming from their barricade. It would fall down soon.
Both he and Dante calmly hopped off, and Seb stood between the door and the teacher.
“May I just say,” the boy bowed with a hat flourish, “your establishment seems to have… management problems. You’re not very good with kids.”
The man didn’t answer, but instead picked the student up and threw him out of the way. As the boy had the bones of a bird, he practically flew into the classroom door.
For a second, it looked as if Sebastian’s neck were snapped – and if it had been, the school would have had much more to worry about than disciplinary values. But he was fine. Excited, even.
The barricade crashed down, and the door swung open. Seb had accurately guessed that he would have a safe space behind it, out of sight. It bonked his head, but that was no news. He waved, as the furious wave of students barreled out and straight at the teacher.
Dante helped him up, and the three scurried off.
“Before we do anything,” the youngest noted, “I wish to swing around and check in with a pair of friendly troublemakers I met an hour ago. Any objections?”

April 7, 2024 at 11:09 pm #178735@rae @whalekeeper Agreed. Or we could practice writing morally good adult characters which is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

April 8, 2024 at 9:39 am #178739Well, we have some bad teachers and haven’t yet met the good ones. Sounds like an average school to me.
It’d take an exceptional teacher to change Chase’s mind about school. I mean, if your school teacher was either a man you were always afraid of or a woman who literally tried to kill you, how would you feel?
Chase
Chase nodded in silence. As long as they got away from the teachers, he didn’t care.
"You need French Toast."
April 8, 2024 at 11:17 pm #178767There are at least five good teachers tho! There’s Mr. Gregory ofc. Then there’s the art teacher with the red and yellow scarf, Miss Soleil, and the two dance instructors with a romance subplot.
…Granted, I created all of these characters XD But nice adults are underrated in fiction and deserve screentime.
Sebzter
The twins and the boy hadn’t planned where to meet afterwards, either.
In such a case, Seb would have normally found a weird place to wait, and simply assigned tardiness to those who did not know there was a place in the first place.
This time he swallowed the temptation, and just looked.
Where would I go if I were two alien girls?
He, Dante and Chase looped around a few corners, then made a beeline for the one classroom Seb was sure the twins would notice.
Small green stars spangled the ceiling – soft, yet visible. They were stuck on everything, but seemed to float in the dark. The room’s door was left ajar, and Eddie and Ellie sat crosslegged on the floor, eyes glittering patiently.
“Ladies, gentlemen,” Seb beamed. “Mingle.”

April 9, 2024 at 1:32 pm #178782Ahhhh, I’m backkkk. Sorry it’s been like f o r e v e r 😭 I have no good excuse except procrastination, lol. XDD
Fynn
“Awesome.” Fynn grinned, rubbing his hands together. “Then into the dark we go.” He dramatically turned on his heel and led them out of the classroom. “The hallways are spooky in the dark.” Fynn wasn’t sure why he was whispering, but for some reason it felt wrong to speak at a normal volume in the pitch dark. Just didn’t fit the vibe. He turned on his phone’s flashlight and covered it so it wasn’t ridiculously bright.
He caught a stream of sound—voices—from a classroom door that stood opened a crack. He exchanged a glance with Navin. “Wanna see what’s going on?”
@loopylin @whalekeeper @bethFynn and Navin might meet up with all your charries. I’m sure Fynn seeing non-human-like people would be funny. XD But it depends on what Beth wants to do.

April 9, 2024 at 5:38 pm #178789oh yay, it’s time for Dante and the twins drama. I need to put their older versions in a rp at some point so I can actually write them as friends lol
Ellie
As soon as the three boys entered the room, Eddie’s face darkened.
“Dante.” She growled.
“Uh oh.” Ellie breathed.
Dante gave a crooked smile. “Hey, Eddie. Ellie. Glad to see you’re both doing well.”
“Yeah, no thanks to you, coward.”
“What? Name calling already? It’s hardly been thirty seconds.”
Ed looked ready to leap up from her spot on the floor and tackle him. Luckily, Ellie was faster. She got up, put a hand on Eddie’s shoulder to calm her, then crossed over to Sebastian.
“Here’s this.” She handed him his phone, then noticed Chase lingering in the back. “Oh, hi Chase. Sorry I didn’t find your phone too.”
