It’d take a lot to get Chase to join, but maybe he will.

      @whalekeeper

Don’t worry. I had never written Chase POV before this either, and Jr is a confused mess. I knew how Nar would be, though I also had never written her POV, but Jr is like…trying to describe the taste of mango without saying mango. Nearly impossible! Sorry, I believe I’m ranting now.

      Chase

Chase’s phone buzzed from inside his pocket. He discretely pulled it out under his desk. It was a text from Mrs. Marshall.

Papers came through. She is your aunt. They’re now just deciding if she is qualified. Keep away from alleys and your chin up, Chase. Hood off your head, and magic locked up tight. God has a plan in store. Study hard. <3, the Marshall’s, and gang.

        Sorry, pressed the button prematurely.

        Chase (continued)

His aunt. He had an aunt. For real. Legally. The sister of his father.

        No.

He wanted to be Chase Duke Marshall, not Chase Duke, charge of Ms. Duke. He didn’t want to be back in his father’s family, for all he knew all of them were bad blood. His father had died. Dead. Gone. Unforgiven. Yet somehow he still beat Chase from the grave.

It wasn’t just the fact he’d be under her care, but he’d also have to leave his friends. He’d have to give howling at the moon with the wolves, listening to squirrel gossip, and stroking the coat of the fawn. Oh, the things he’d miss!

If I ever must go with her, I’ll run to the forest and live with the creatures forever.

Chase’s face hardened with resolve as he slid his phone back into his pocket.

Don’t worry, Chase doesn’t have to be in the newspaper club if it doesn’t make sense for his character.

listening to squirrel gossip, and stroking the coat of the fawn.

It’s official. Chase is a Disney princess.

              WHAT?! No! Wait, who…

Would you like me to explain Chase’s connection?

Hehe sorry I’m just making dumb jokes.

I totally get enjoying the company of animals more than people, and he probably is even better with them since he’s a shapeshifter, right?

It’s okay. XD, you would giggle in delight at my first reaction when I read that. My surprise was as great as when Axiom asked what tastebuds tasted like when I first joined KP, XD

Yes, shape shifting helps, but before he knew he could shape shift, since the time he was born, he’s always had a fantastical connection with animals. Part of it is his gentleness, he has a gentle touch, and trustworthy eyes that even in our world can tame the wildest (proof, my great aunt found a baby skunk thinking it was a kitten (she was 5) and never got sprayed because she talked to it sweetly and pet it so tenderly) but also, he has natural shyiad magic. There are two types of magic in my world, elemental, and energy. Most elves have elemental, most Nameless Things have energy (Jr has energy magic, sometimes it takes a form as emotions, and almost literally pours out of him. This is rare, since he has a tight rein on his feelings) Shyiads are special, they have a piece of both. Chase naturally uses his elemental magic without knowledge on animals, enchanting them. He has no idea this is the case, however. His energy magic needs refinement, that’s the most dangerous type of magic, since it can just destroy everything. Does that help?

Relatable 😖 What helps me is to find some solid values and then play them out in an interesting way.

Not that I’ve written her much here, but Babs is a type 6 and wants security for her and her loved ones, due to situations beyond her control. Her personality matches, and in the story, it’s more interesting because she can literally trade anything magically to keep her little home running. Not a perfect example 🤷‍♀️ but you get the jist!

Oh, and starting small and building up helps too. I firmly believe that everyday scenes like school or chore time can be even better than huge, dramatic scenes like near death or an emotional breakdown. If my character can hypothetically react to any situation while still demonstrating their values… 👍

If we can just get him in a group of twenty preschoolers, maybe he’ll actually show off a bit to kept them quiet, XD.

In my real world, he wouldn’t really even know at this age, but it’s an AU, I can have liberty.

Oh my goodness, guys! I just heard a version of Running with the wolves (again I have no idea how good the person it came from is. Common theme with me. And the version I watched Idt is the original one. It had some old cartoon animation in the background. Wolfwalkers or something) and that song is just Chase’s song!

Literally, when his aunt is going to take him away, he runs away to the forest and lives with the wolf pack, literally running with the wolves.

Lol, I love Running With the Wolves. Both the og song and the Wolfwalkers are by Aurora, who is a very good singer. Works for any classic “I want to be free with the wolves” story, for real though.
