Paxton
Paxton rounded a corner, emotion still squelching his throat. He sniffed, rubbing at his now red rimmed eyes.
If his brothers saw him like thisâŚ
He shook his head. He didnât want to think about that.
NoâŚhe..he needed to find somewhere. Somewhere to hide. ToâŚto get awayâŚ
JustâŚjust for a secondâŚ
He whimpered, hugging himself. He scanned the hall, trying to ignore the students that passed, none of which even cared about the crying little boy.
His eyes lit upon a small closer.
A janitorâs closet.
He swallowedâŚ
Dark spacesâŚwerenât exactly his friendâŚ
Not where his family was involvedâŚ
HeâŚhad a love-hate relationship with them, that was for sureâŚ
They could be usefulâŚfor hidingâŚ
But other timesâŚ
He flinched at the memory of the pitch black closet heâd been locked in just earlier that day.
The suffocating blacknessâŚ
AramisâŚsmiling at himâŚ
He shook his head.
ButâŚhe needed somewhere to go.
He looked around, and then quickly ducked towards the janitor closet door. He opened it and entered; no one the wiser.
It was a bit musty, andâŚdark.
Just like everywhere else.
ButâŚ
It was quiet.
And he was alone. With his thoughts. Away from his brothers. Or anyone else who would try to hurt him.
He sucked in a shaky breath, leaning back against the only free wall. He let out a weak, pitiful sob, voice shaky from lack of use, and slid down until his knees were at his face.
He sniffed, not caring how long or hard he cried.
No one could see him now.
No one even caredâŚ
He glanced over his shoulder, at the pack behind him.
MaybeâŚmaybe in here he couldâŚ
His heart wrenched and he tore the backpack off his shoulders, unzipping it.
Slowly, with shaky fingers, he pulled the small, coarse brown bear from the depths of his pack.
It wasnât much to look atâŚnot by any means.
It was old. Ragged, with two plain button eyes and a small brown noseâŚ
It had been stomped onâŚthrown out windowsâŚnearly burned in the fireplaceâŚtore openâŚ
BeatenâŚbruisedâŚ
Paxton bit his cheek, hugging it close to his chest.
Just like himâŚ
AndâŚstill it remained.
Forever by his side.
His only friend.
Only constant.
OnlyâŚ
Hope.
He sobbed into it, letting its fur soak up his tears.

He heard sobbing.
Childlike sobbing.
He grinned.
Paxton.
Hah…what good luck.
Coming from a janitor closet.
Dietrich slowly walked over, knowing it didn’t matter if anyone was around, they couldn’t stop him, after all, and pulled the door open, quick.
And reached in and pulled Paxton out, who was holding an old, tattered bear close.
“Well…what do we have here…?”

Paxton
Paxton let out a rough gasp as he was suddenly jerked from his spot in the closet.
He crumbled in the personâs grip, expecting to be met with Edrich, or Aramis.
His eyes widened.
âWellâŚwhat do we have hereâŚ?â
Dietrich grinned, pulling the boy closer, grip tightening. Paxton winced, moving his arm to try and ease some of the pain. He whimpered.
âWhatâs this?â Dietrich asked, grabbing the bear with his other hand. Paxton gripped it tighter, refusing to let it go. Dietrich raised a brow. âDidnât take you for a fighter, kid.â He ripped the bear from his arms, holding it up. Paxton watched with wide eyes as Dietrich studied the old stuffed creature.
Paxton reached for it but was quickly slung back. Dietrich stared at him. âHuhâŚyou know usually your pretty obedient. Whatâs up with this thing, huh?â Dietrich shook the bear roughly. âWhat, canât sleep without it?â He teased, smirking.
Paxton grimaced.
ActuallyâŚthatâŚwas trueâŚ
He stood hunched against the wall as Dietrich continued to stare at the little animal, âHow old are you again? 12? 13?â He clicked his tongue. âYou know little boys like you really shouldâve grown out of this by now,â He smirked. âBet your brothers would be real pleased to know about this.â
Paxtonâs face went white. He shook his head rapidly, making his head ache. He opened his mouth, âN-!â
Dietrich jerked, eyes wide as saucers. Paxton gasped, covering his mouth.
âDid you justâŚ?â Dietrich asked.
Paxton shrunk. He shook his head again. Dietrich smiled, dropping the little bear to the ground. Paxton watched as it fell.
Dietrich bent down to be eye to eye with Paxton, âYa knowâŚI donât think Iâve ever heard you talkâŚbut Iâve heard about it. From your brothers. Heard about your littleâŚproblem. Come on, why donât you say something for me? Come on!â
Paxton squeezed his eyes shut, shaking his head. He wouldnât! HeâŚhe couldnât!
Dietrich glared. âI saidâŚtalk!âÂ
Paxton held his hands over his face, wishing he could disappear.

“Hmm…silent, are you…? Why don’t you say something, Paxi? I just want you to say…something. Come on…spit it out!” He yelled, holding onto Paxton’s collar tighter.
“Say something!”
“HEY! You leave that boy alone!”
Dietrich turned. “Well…if it isn’t the little rulebreaker…? Haven’t you learned by now?”
Erich marched over, fists clenched, blonde hair, with orange and blue tips, shining in the light. “Let him go Dietrich.”
“Why should I, punk?” Dietrich replied, pulling Paxton away, further from Erich.
Paxton whimpered.
What a baby.
“Put him down…and no one gets hurt.” Erich snarled, through clenched teeth.
“Aww, and what’s the little bad boy gonna do…?” Dietrich mocked in a babyish tone, smirking.
Erich glared. “Just let him go.”
Dietrich laughed and narrowed his eyes, holding Paxton even tighter. “…Never.”
Erich raised his leg, and without another word, he kicked Dietrich, hard, in the stomach.
Dietrich gasped and dropped Paxton and his bear, falling backwards.
Erich ran to Paxton. “Come on, Paxton, let’s go.” He urged.
Dietrich snarled a curse and pushed himself to his feet. He placed a hand on his stomach, before pulling it away, seeing the blood on his fingers. He turned to Erich, fists clenched and teeth together. “You’ll pay for that, twerp.”
(Uhm…should a teacher or something show up…? I don’t know…XD All I know is Dietrich and Erich are gonna fight unless they’re stopped xD Oh, and Erich likely wouldn’t have made him bleed if he just kicked him on a normal day…but heh…Erich’s wearing army grade combat boots right now…so…yea…Dietrich’s gonna be sore. XD)Â

Erich pulled him away. Paxton fell trembling into his arms, whimpering still. He squeezed his eyes shut, arms wrapping around Erich for any sign of comfort.
âYouâre gonna pay for that, twerp.â Dietrich growled.
Paxton peeked his eyes open, just as Dietrich stood, wiping blood from where Erich had kicked him.
Erich released Paxton, pushing him away. âStay back, okay?â He whispered. He looked down, then quickly plucked the bear that had fallen from the floor, handing it to the little boy. He smiled, âI believe this is yours?â
Paxton swallowed, warily taking it. He squeezed it tight before backing up.
âWhat is going on here?â A voice called. All three heads turned as heels clacked against the floor.
A young woman with rimmed glasses made her way down the hall, and, spotting the blood, gasped, face going pale.
âO-Oh myâŚIâŚI think I might faintâŚâ
Erich stood upright, clearing his throat, âAh! Not to worry, my friend here was just headed to the nurseâs office.â He gave a smug grin to Dietrich, who growled in a reply.
âY-YesâŚpleaseâŚplease doâŚmy wordâŚstudents these daysâŚâ The teacher muttered, swiping her glasses clean.

The teacher walked away, and Dietrich continued to glare at him. “You’ll pay for this soon…do you hear me?”
Erich shrugged. “Go on ahead. I’m not scared. Now…weren’t you on your way to the Nurse’s office, Dietrich…?”
Dietrich snarled something not nice under his breath, but Erich merely smirked.
He stalked away, and Erich waved. “Bye-Bye! Have fun at the Nurse’s, my friend!”
He then turned to Paxton, who was trembling on the floor, his bear in his arms.
Poor kid…
Erich smiled softly and walked over, getting down on both knees on the floor. “Hey there…you okay Paxton…? Don’t worry…Dietrich’s gone…it’s just me now…you’re safe…”
Adolphus (this boy is mad….heh…)
Dietrich’s text made his blood boil.
Who did Erich think he was!?
This school was falling apart…
…and their power was beginning to slip away.
Adolphus’ fists clenched.
He’d teach Erich and all of them to not mess with him or his younger brother.
And he’d teach him soon.
He knew who Erich cared about.
Adolphus smirked and texted a few friends…telling them to come with him…they had a job to do.
Ellie
Ellie giggled at something Iris said.
Iris smiled.
Ellie smiled back.
Iris was such a good friend.
“What class do you have next, Iris?”
Iris checked her phone. “Hmm…I have History next. What about you?”
“English. My second favorite!”
Iris smiled softly. “Have fun, then, Ellie.”
“Ellie! Iris! Hi!”
“Angelina!” They both cried with a wave, as Angelina bound over, basically dragging her older brother behind her.
Iris laughed and smiled at Riker. “Has she been dragging you around everywhere today…?”
Riker smirked and nodded. “Always.”
Angelina nudged him in the side and smiled at Iris and Ellie. “Ignore him. He’s just a silly goose.”
“I don’t think I’m the silly one, Ang…”
Angelina rolled her eyes.
Ellie smiled, before turning her attention to Riker. “Hey…have you seen Erich…? I haven’t seen him since lunch…”
Riker raised an eyebrow, before his eyes widened slightly. “No…I-I haven’t…what-”
“I know what he’s been doing.”
Riker
Riker startled and turned around to face Adolphus.
They were outnumbered.
Riker put his arm out in front of Angelina, Iris, and Ellie. “What do you want Adolphus…?”
“Your best friend kicked my brother…and I’m here to…make sure he regrets it.”
“You better not hurt him!” Ellie cried, fists clenching.
Adolphus laughed and shook his head. “I’m not…else I’d be looking for him…not all of you.” He smirked.
Riker squeezed Angelina’s hand before letting go of it. “Get out of here, Ang, get to class. Ellie, Iris, go with her.”
“And leave you all alone!? Never!” Iris cried.
Riker shook his head. “You need to. I’ll be fine. I promise.”
Slowly, Ellie nodded, taking Angelina’s hand. “We’ll keep your sister safe. We promise.”
Riker nodded and turned to face Iris. “Go with them.” He whispered.
“Come on, Iris,” Ellie urged, grabbing Iris’ hand with her free hand.
Adolphus and his lackeys were distracted by something else…a girl, likely, so now was their chance.
Riker nodded at Iris. “Go.”
Iris nodded. “Okay…I-I will…”
And she began to walk away. “Wait!” She cried quietly, rushing back over.
And before Riker could move, she kissed his cheek. “Stay safe.”
And she ran away.
Adolphus turned back around. “What the-!? Ahh, no matter. You were the one we were after anyways.” (he was so oblivious…XD)Â
Riker backed away, only to slam into a locker.
Adolphus and his lackeys surrounded him, and Adolphus stepped closer to him.
“Face it, Schind, you’re surrounded. You’re done.”

Hopefully, you’ll love him in the actual book too, even if it’s hard to do so sometimes…lol. XD
He’s not a villain tho…he’s an antagonist…but still causes some trouble for Riker, so…I hope everyone can at least stand him…he’ll have his own book and I don’t want everyone to hate him…XD
@freedomwriter76 well I mean Corvina is the same way!! So I understand! In the first book she has no POV chapters except maybe an epilogue at the end, second book is still pretty limited in her POV, Itâs not until the third book we start to SLIGHTLY see âokâŚ.maybe sheâs got a bit more then what we thoughtâŚâ and then book four weâre conflicted XD

@godlyfantasy12. Glad you understand!!! And yeah, I get that!!! Erich’s book will likely either be book 2 or 3 in the Trilogy, with either Riker/Leon or the Boys’ book being book 1. đ
And yes, Corvina will certainly make readers feel conflicted…XD Not me, though, I just love her. XDXDXD
