Fynn tried to hide his surprise that Paxton had asked a question in a complete sentence. “Um, good. Yeah, I’m going good.” He smiled. Then eyed Lukas. “And I think Lukas is doing fantastic.” His smile grew into a grin.
Lukas glared daggers, but a smile clearly tugged at the corner of his mouth. “Yes, I’m great.” His smile finally broke through.
Fynn held back another laugh.

I’m just going to RP Chase coming with my boys, but if anyone else wanted to be on the bus, that’s chill.

The ride on the bus was nice and quiet. Chase sat slumped over between the two Baztian boys, still mostly unconscious.
Mars summoned a cloud puff and held it under Chase’s head like a pillow, even though the concentration obviously used up the last of his strength. His head nodded on his chest, a clump of curls falling over his eyes as the bus jostled.
Cal waved at passing students outside the window, just because.
If possible, Chase could sleep in the biggest boys’ dorm, since it had the most pairs of eyes. According to Mars, it was the best place for the former headmistress’s son to be, and somehow there were still empty bunks available. Maybe the dorm had extension magic or something. The common room would be a comfortable place to relax after a long day – if some of the boys wanted to sleep in peace.
The bus stopped in front of the school. Cal half-pulled, half-cajoled Mars to his feet, and they both helped Chase up the steps and inside.
The halls were just beginning to be decorated for the dance. Banners and sparkling gold baubles hung from the ceiling, the lockers, and in every doorway. The walls and marble flooring gleamed.
By the time they made it to the dorm, Cal was practically carrying both Chase and Mars. He stumbled to the door, threw it open, and chucked each of them on a bed.
He turned around, brushing his blue-tinted hair back to see three boys standing across from them. “Oh, hi! …Fynn, Lukas, Paxton. Just got back from dance class.”
“Everything is a mountain”

“Of course,” she smiled. “Who else is in our room? I haven’t met many people…” she gasped as a plan took shape in her mind. “WE COULD PLAY TRUTH OR DARE!”

Nar slid into the seat across from Hugo again, smiling as she apologized.
” I just see people and feel like I need to help them, ya know? In my culture, we are expected to be warriors. And for a warrior, protecting is just as important as being courageous. I guess this is my way of being a protector. Sure, I can shoot a gun with okay accuracy, and weild a sword as good as the next girl, my father is famous for his swordplay after all. But being a front line warrioress just isn’t me.” She sunk her chin into her hands, with her elbows perched on the table. Her eyes looked to where Jr took up his post by the door, glancing every couple seconds their way. “He’s the warrior. The one I have to patch up every couple days. He was literally created, genetically modified to be a…honestly, he was supposed to be the greatest assassin to ever meet our galaxy. But it all changed. He was captured from our enemies when he was still a child. If you know him, you’ll know he’s known hardship. He used to sleep out in the freezing cold, with temperatures below 0. He used to have implants, alterations done. He’s told bits and pieces, but what he hasn’t told me makes me worried. Have you ever seen the one you see as so strong, so brave seem afraid? A look that is so rare and terrible that it sends a shiver down the spine?” Nar put her hands down on her lap. “Sorry for suddenly getting all serious on you. I just, I don’t know, felt like making you not think he’s such a terrible monster?” She shrugged.

Oof ummm… I’m going to say Jr. But it would depend on who was the most affected.

“I don’t think he is a terrible monster,” Hugo said, genuinely surprised. “From what I can see, he seems very much human.”
Nar was too worked up to entirely accept his answer. She still watched her brother.
“And I know what it’s like to see someone afraid on a whole other level. Me and my brother, we’re not actually brothers. I’m adopted.”
Nar turned to focus on Hugo.
“Well, kind of.” Hugo bit his lip with a repressed grin. He looked down at his folded hands. “I was never really accepted in the family business. But Charles, the leader, has some weird fixation on me at the worst of times. I feel bad, taking all that attention. But I worry that if Seb discovers the truth, when he’s older… The truth is, Char is the most panicked man I’ve ever met. He would rather snap a thousand necks than let Seb crawl into his mom’s Lovedream.”
That probably wasn’t what Nar meant. She meant someone you cared about.
Hugo didn’t love his glorified stepdad; nor did he have a lot of people to love. But he wasn’t going to talk any further about his and Seb’s shared issues, because that was private. Lock and key.
Nar and Hugo relaxed for a minute, gazing out the darkening restaurant windows and at the first stars.
Their order came soon after. A simple tray of piping hot pastry, with chocolate sauce on the side, and a couple tall glasses. The warm aroma was the stuff of home.
Hugo took one of the pastry sticks and twisted it in front of him, honey-glow eyes dripping with interest. He handed one to Nar. “My treat.”

“Some dance class,” Fynn muttered.
“Is that Chase?” Lukas pointed to one of the boys on the bed.
“Oh, yeah.”
“Who’s the kid with the cotton-candy head?” Fynn tapped the boy’s leg hanging over the edge of the bed with his foot. He glanced over at Chase, noticing that he was bandaged up. “You said you came back from dance class?”

Fynn raised an eyebrow.
