Rivet’s face flashed through his mind, but he pushed the image away. “I don’t know…..I am only twelve, and a date should be the furthest thing from my mind according to my older siblings.” he confessed, a bit embarrassed by the prospect. “I might go by myself, though.”

The name “Sara” just popped into my head as the correct one for her and I tried so hard to say that she was not based on anyone from real life but I guess I didn’t try hard enough 🥴😆🤪

The scribe had no idea why someone would want to buy some colored glass, but obviously things were different here. He held his peace.
Then an animal came. And not one that should be in the city.
A black crow, its feathers reflecting light purple and blue, with a beak as sharp as a pin, and talons daintily scaled and clawed, alighted on the table. It held a paper of some sort in its mouth, which it dropped on the table. It nudged it forward towards Calligripho, with small, croaky noises.
Calligripho, at first taken aback and hesitant, cautiously picked up the paper. He read it aloud for the benefit of the others. It read thus:
ANNOUNCING: OFFICIAL DANCING LESSONS FOR THE UPCOMING SCHOOL EVENT
Any and all in attendance at (whatever the name of the school was again) are invited, free of charge. An esteemed professional will teach dance moves, protocol, dress code, health benefits, etc.
Participation is OPTIONAL, but all who plan to dance MUST ATTEND at least one lesson.
Three lessons will be held: One two days before the dance (I think that’s today), one the eve of the dance, and one in the morning, preceding the dance.
IMPORTANT: No participant may enter the dance lessons under two separate names. (guys someone please do this it would be hilarious)
In fine print below, it read thus:
The following items are FORBIDDEN during dance lessons: sandals (“flip flops”); boots; ropes; open flame; firearms; glass jars; high heels; papers; pens; BOOKS; animals or pets not enrolled as students; blindfolds; HOODIES. (Just to make things fun; the people who already signed up could see the fine print later; just thought this could make things hilarious/interesting/conflicting)
Calligripho looked up and at the crow. “Who sent you?”
The crow appeared to preen its feathers.
Calligripho looked down at the note, then up to his new friends. “I know I will most certainly go. Care to join me?”

Guys, if you have any issues (like, real issues) with the pamphlet, I’d be totally fine with editing out stuff, I just thought it might move the plot in an interesting direction. If anyone else has other thoughts about what the dance lessons should be like, I would most certainly be open to suggestions (or corrections, @whaley 🫨) but yeah. Just had to throw something out there original

I love the pamphlet and I will have a lot of fun having my teacher character try to make sure everyone follows its ridiculous rules XD
