idk what is going on anymore XD
Well, in the group that your boys were eavesdropping on, nothing much has happened. People laughed and threw chip at each other and then Marcel’s friend Babs (or Thorn??) showed up.
I have missed them 😂
Yeah I was starting to miss them too. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one XD

😊 Babs is a little taller than Marcel, very round in features, with coppery eyes, orange and white hair, a bit of a pale complexion. I’ve changed her a lot from the original design. Those who knew her before this moment might get confused… which again, I apologize 😂
Also…
Again, @everyone
I’ve realized I cannot continue roleplaying without including some kind of character arc for each character 😂 I’ve recently realized that, and you’d probably notice if you read this. Idk, is that weird? I know this is just supposed to be fun interactions between characters, but I think it actually helps you stick with a roleplay, and feel like there’s more to write. So I guess just as advice? Not always getting in the way of character interactions, but sometimes stepping back and letting your characters argue about something, like this. It means more work for you, as the writer, instead of having fun mixing characters – but again, idk, it just makes me feel more like I’m taking something away from this activity.
Babs
“What is going on out there?” The cute coffee kid asked, with a skeptical glance out the door.
Marcel gave Lois and Felicity a soulless stare. “School dance.”
The other kids looked at each other, reactions both excited and unnerved.
“Just some fun…” Babs’ words slowed, as the environment – and the opportunity – she had barged into dawned across her face. “Yeah. Fun. Um – Marcel? Can I talk to you for a minute?”
A pause.
Babs smiled.
“Sure.” Marcel slid off the desk and over to the back of the room – while the other kids continued to snack, albeit with a newfound interest in the outside world – and began doodling on the whiteboard.
Babs brushed her orange and white streaked hair out of her face, beginning to retie it into a bunny tail, while the words bubbles up in her head, all swirled together in a messy ice cream cone. “Marcel… do you have to act like I’m not here?”
“I’m not,” Marcel said reassuringly, meeting her gaze with his own. “I just know you need to gather your thoughts. I’m waiting.”
Babs began to object, but it was true. She wasn’t good at thinking quickly, especially because of her… ailment. And sometimes it was hard not to feel offended when someone tried to hold your hand.
She blinked the uncertainty out of her eyes and talked, ignoring the squeak squeak of the marker. “I kind of feel like you’ve been doing your own thing. Which is actually amazing. But also… it’s the same thing as always. And maybe you should – um -“
“I should -“
“No no no, I have an important thing to say. You should separate your workspace from your other life stuff. Like I do at the shop!”
Marcel blinked. “But… your job is literally your life.”
“Stop being so adorably honest for a minute and listen to me.” The girl’s voice turned into a gravelly squeak, like a tricycle’s wheels, and her cheeks turned pink from effort. “I may not be smart, but Calvin is feeling very divided right now, and I think I understand. He wanted this school to be a retreat for you, not another workspace. He wants you to stop being a hero.”
The little Guardian was quiet. Then he glanced back at the others, and back at his friend, eyes gleaming apologetically. “You’re not dumb, Babs.”
He then backed away from the whiteboard, a few random, colorful doodles trailing alongside him, and dashed out of the classroom.
“Marcel!” Babs yelled. But it was too late.
She turned to the only girl she knew the name of – Felicity – and wrinkled her nose incredulously.
“Is running away from life’s problems a magical boys’ thing, or am I out of the loop with something?” she asked.
“Everything is a mountain”
October 24, 2023 at 12:32 am #160046I do that too! Or at least I try to. Or sometimes just snippets of a character arc. It makes it a lot more fun and keeps stuff moving. Putting Dante in the character castle and having him interact with Steve and all the other characters actually helped me a ton in developing his character arc for the actual book.
Also (eke), why are all your characters so amazing? I love Babs dearly already and I’ve only known her for like a page and a half.

Uh, not that this detail is really that important, but Lois’ eyes are gold-brown now, not green.
Felicity
“School dance,” Marcel said flatly.
Lois and Felicity exchanged a look.
“Um – Marcel? Can I talk to you for a minute?”
Babs and Marcel slipped away and Lois did the same, finding his own empty corner and slipping silently into a desk seat. Felicity followed and laid down on the floor next to him.
“So, school dance,” she said, tracing the now barely visible illusion spell on her hand with one finger. “Pretty lame, huh?”
Lois gave her a wry smile. “More lame than math class?”
Felicity suppressed a grin and waved a dismissive hand at him.
“Different kind of lame.”
There was a pause, then Lois said, “You don’t know how to dance, do you?”
“…No.”
Lois snorted.
“What?” She sat up on one elbow and glared at him. “Do you?”
“No,” he responded as seriously as he could.
“Well, there then. We’ve both had sad childhoods. Don’t look at me like that.”
“Marcel!”
Felicity leapt to her feet at the sudden shout just in time to see a flurry of feathers dash past. She walked over to the door and peeked out, but Marcel was already gone.
A soft huff at her side made Felicity look down.
“Is running away from life’s problems a magical boys’ thing, or am I out of the loop with something?” Babs asked.
Felicity chuckled at “magical boys” and glanced back at Lois. He was watching from his desk with his arms crossed. Or maybe he was just spacing out in her general direction. She quickly stuck her tongue out at him. He simply raised his eyebrows back. She turned away with a slight smile.
“I don’t know,” she said to Babs. “It’s usually the magical boys who are the life’s problems in my case.”
She shrugged and leaned against the doorframe. Then she frowned uncomfortably.
“Have you ever been to a dance?”

Ohhhhhh boyyyyy wait until y’all see my character arcs. It’s going to get pretty extreme, especially once the bad guys start coming in. In fact, let’s do some of that right now…
Sansfoy
The tall, well-tanned, black-haired boy named Sansfoy shouldered his way through the crowd, seething. He would find them. And they would pay.
“Hey, Foy, wait up!” Sansjoy and Sansloy, his brothers, pushed and shoved their way along, trying too keep up against the stream of over-excited students. Foy turned to wait for them, albeit grumbling.
“What is it that you disturb my brooding to tell me?” he growled.
Joy, the youngest, caught up, and said, “Word on the street is that Brianaro and Katonia got kicked out of the school in disgrace!”
Loy, the middle brother, asked, “And what if the word on the street is wrong?”
Joy shrugged. “Word on the street is also that the Four are here. Foy, do you see them?”
Foy peered out over the crowd. “I see nothing – wait! There are two figures, a boy and a girl, approximately seven feet tall… we’ve found them.”
“Are you sure we want to fight now? Here?” Loy was skeptical.
“We’ll burn that bridge when we come to it,” replied Foy, and the three fought their way towards the looming faeries.
Narana
Yerdua squealed. “SHOPPING?!? I LOVE SHOPPING!!!” Bagico covered his ears. “What are we waiting for?? Let’s go!” She began dragging Bagico into the crowd stream.
Yeamano hesitated. “Are we sure we want to…” Narana gave him a pleading look. “You know what, why not?” And with that, they were off.
Sansfoy
“Curses! The infidels escape!” Sansfoy roared.
“Easy, easy,” soothed Sansloy. “Our time will come. We must bide our time.”
Sansjoy bounced on his heels. “And in the meantime, there are plenty of ladies running around to win the hearts of!”
* * *
Guys, I assure you, I did not make up Sansfoy and kin, but they are in my story. They are Saracens from The Faerie Queene. That book is going to have a big impact on my story. Eke, they have a huge grudge against Kate and Brian, specifically Brian. They are also not my only villains, just my newest ones (six days old), so this will be a good exercise for shaping what the final image will look like. @lydibug and @loopylin , the dwarves and faeries will now leave your people to go on the shopping expedition, no offence.

@smiley Love the dress!! (feel free to find a green suit for Loki on Pinterest if you want XD I don’t really mind/care what he wears as long as it looks nice, lol)
Ooh, yay, they’ll shop together then!
Loki
Skylar smiled. “It has felt like a while, what’s new?”
Loki grinned, shrugged, and leaned back against a locker. “Nothing much. I saw my brother and the rest of my family last night, but otherwise, nothing new…quite boring here in this school. Both of my roommates have left, so I’m on my own now…very boring existence. And the classes…I could sleep through almost all of them. What about you?”

Oh I will XD but I’m kind of picky so it might take me a while XD
Skylar
Loki grinned, shrugged, and leaned back against a locker. “Nothing much. I saw my brother and the rest of my family last night, but otherwise, nothing new…quite boring here in this school. Both of my roommates have left, so I’m on my own now…very boring existence. And the classes…I could sleep through almost all of them. What about you?”
“Well no as eventful,” Skylar shrugged, giving a light smile. “I uh… got an A on my math test and a B on my history test,”
Skylar looked around the crowded school and then back at Loki. “So I still need a dress for the dance…”
Skylar was setting Loki up for an invite to the mall with him, but she didn’t know if he would take it.

@loopylin I actually have no idea – I would pronounce it “ek”, but if you see a more official way of doing it, go with that.
Sansjoy will see his error… they all will see their error…
@smiley correct + all their boyfriends. I’m not sure how the RP is going to work in the mall, but I’ll just go with the flow.Kate and Brian don’t even need to go; their clothes are already dance-worthy
@freedomwriter76 @whalekeeper @godlyfantasy12 @lydibug @everyone-else-i-forgot The most important question:
WHAT KIND OF DANCE IS THIS?? An old-timey ball-dance (awesome), a folk dance (amazing, I even created my own folk dance for my story), a modern school dance (ewwww please no please no MERCY), or something else? If no one has thought about it yet, I would personally suggest we collectively choose a dance structure for the night (everyone needs to get new partners between dances, dance cards, or whatever), and then each of us choose a single dance of our desired style (waltz, circle, line, group, swing, contra, folk, or mushy). I am, however, not in a position of authority here and will have my characters attend no matter what.
Also, dance practice, anyone, anyone at all?
October 24, 2023 at 4:41 pm #160152@calyhuge @everyone
I was kind of thinking of a Ballroom dance meeting high school prom
Also, dance practice, anyone, anyone at all?
I mean I wasn’t but now I’m totally going to have one of my girls annoy the boy she’s going with by trying to get him to dance XD
Also, I’m intruding two new charries, Lena and Marek (more on them in a second)
