I have written three fanfics, and am writing one (Wilfred’s journal). All except for the journal were short stories.
One is about some Araluen rangers. It’s got an interesting idea, but is horribly written. -_-
Another is about Garten’s discovery of the existence of Jupiter’s heir. Once more, fascinating idea that holds some promise, but bad writing. (Green Ember again)
Then my twin sister and I wrote a sort of extra ending/epilogue for The Warden and the Wolf King. It’s better than the other two. 😉
Then Wilfred’s misfortunate journal, which is my first, and is still being drafted.
That’s funny! This Helmer is a black furred rabbit with a perpetually dark mood and insane skill at arms. Among GE fans, he replaced Chuck Noris jokes. Helmer’s just awesome.
@lydia-s if you ever want a beta reader…! 😉Anyway, what fanfics have you written/ are you writing?

January 1, 2022 at 9:07 pm #108154Oh, and I have another! (How could I forget?) It’s the one about a slave in Akalone that’s part of the Goodson line of royalty.
I have a lot of Green Ember fanfiction ideas! 😂

January 1, 2022 at 9:13 pm #108155That means the books must have been either really good, or simply dreadful. XD
[As I have read the Green Ember series I’ll go with the former (Helmer’s just great!)]

Fork the GorkJanuary 3, 2022 at 3:43 pm #108170@elishavet-pidyon Helmer sounds cool! Also, I like that he’s a rabbit. I haven’t seen many stories where rabbits play a major part. I guess that’s why you have so many fanfictions on the series, cause they’re good….
My fanfics are mostly Star Wars and Marvel stuff, and also some for Jurassic World and a rather obscure sci-fi series called Tron. Also a lot of Warrior Cats ones, often combining that with the aforementioned stories, and a few from the Wings of Fire and Keeper of the Lost Cities universes.
Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.
January 3, 2022 at 3:44 pm #108171Also, I like your Wingfeather idea. Maybe I read it on the forum for wingfeather saga stuff?

January 3, 2022 at 6:17 pm #108174Yeah, rabbits aren’t usually used beyond the cute fluffies that live in Beatrix Potter. That’s part of the irony equipped in Green Ember. Helpless bunnies face monsterously huge predator/enemies and fight back.
Rabbitswithswords!
Wow, that’s a lot of fanfiction. 😉 It sounds really fun! I haven’t read much sci-fi, but my brother has.
Wings of Fire would be an interesting series to write off of, especially if you liked dragons. Personally, I prefer sea dragons or the more flying dinosaur kind to the spidery bat kind. What do you prefer?
Thanks! I think you did. 🙂
Hahaha! I’d agree: it’s the former.

January 4, 2022 at 5:46 pm #108192@elishavet-pidyon I definitely get the sea dragon vs. stereotypical dragon thing, and technically, pterosaurs ARE dragons (or dragons are pterosaurs, either way). Honestly, I love all dragons and dinosaurs. My Star Wars fanfics usually consist of the characters having various different types of dragon wings, tails, and powers……
This guy is an ice dragon, for example. He looks like a stereotypical dragon, but instead of breathing fire he breathes ice (obviously he’d need to take off his helmet first). He’s based off of the Wings of Fire IceWing dragon. I actually just traced this off a photo and added the wings and long tail.

January 8, 2022 at 6:09 pm #108262It sounds like you have a deep understanding of Wilfred’s personality!
Aww, thank you! And you’re so right! Hard places in characters’ lives are so much fun for authors. 😉
Ooo… I didn’t think about that! That’s a very good point. Both Picket and Helmer made choices that included the royal family and left them guilt-ridden. Helmer could identify with Picket, and I have to wonder—I’d have to read the books again to see if this is laid out—if he tried to keep Picket from becoming like him.
You’re so sweet! I’ll definitely let you know if I need a beta reader. 😀
I actually only have this one fanfic! My other books are all original. 🙂 I’ve come up with plenty of fanfics in my head, though, if those count. They have never made it onto paper, and they likely never will. 😛 How about you? Do you have any other fanfics outside of your GE ones?
January 8, 2022 at 6:11 pm #108263January 10, 2022 at 6:11 pm #108293I completely believe dragons are dinosaurs. It’s just another hint that just maybe dinosaurs and people lived in the same era. Just maybe? 🙂
Hmm, ice…
Your picture looks really good! The proportions are pretty accurate, and the colors work well together. (At least they look accurate. I’ve never met a dragon so it would be hard to check. 😉 )

January 12, 2022 at 3:07 pm #108323@elishavet-pidyon Sure does! And actually, I digitally traced him from a picture, colored him in, and added my own personal touch. But thanks!

Welcome! (They so are! Our poor characters.XD)

Oooh, now I wonder too!
Quick question: were you more angered by Fry’s death, or Helmer’s? For some reason I was. XD

Awwww, thank you! (Yay!)

Yeah, I get that. Most of my “fanfics” are just short stories/character sketches. I love remaking a scene from another character’s POV, so in comparison, hardly any of my “fanfics” make it on paper. 🙂
I do have a few outside of GE: one short story for the Rangers Apprentice series and an extra epilogue for The Wingfeather Saga. I think that’s all, but I might have forgotten one. Since they’re not much beyond a few paragraphs, I forget them easily.

January 29, 2022 at 7:01 pm #108699No kidding! They really do put up with quite a bit… XD
Hmmm… I’m not sure! Helmer’s death didn’t come as a surprise for me. *cough* I may or may not have skimmed through the ending the moment I got the book in my hands to see if he was there… And when he wasn’t, I may or may not have then skimmed through the rest of the book until I found where he died. *cough cough* But besides my snooping, it also just seemed right for him to go before the “happily-ever-after.” I absolutely LOVE the way S.D. killed him, too. I think if Helmer could’ve chosen his death, he would’ve picked the one Sam gave him. 🙂 As for Frye, I wasn’t as attached to him. Plus, I think by that point in the book, I was either speed-reading, or I’d had his death spoiled for me, so it didn’t affect me much. *facepalm* Anywho (please pardon the long explanation), I think Helmer’s was probably more emotional for me… (I got teary, which hardly ever happens with book characters for me) Frye’s was still super sad, though. 🙁
Oh, how fun! 😀 Most of my internal fanfics involve me putting a character into the situations or world from a novel and either making the choices I wish the main character had made or coming up with my own adventures. 🙂
Ooo… The Wingfeather saga certainly provides plenty of room for fanfics! I don’t know if I’ve ever done one for that series. I guess I was too into GE at the time I was reading it to give it my full attention. *facepalm* XD
February 5, 2022 at 9:20 pm #108934And I may or may not have skipped through the entire book just to see how a couple of favorite characters escaped a dark place and whether they used the key they had been given in life. (Pauses to read over that and enjoy it’s pointed vagueness.) And I may or may not have only skim read the book entirely. If so, I really need to go back and read the thing as it was intended. XD
Yeah, Helmer had thwarted death too long, and he always said he wanted to go down fighting for the weak ones, so…. *Shrug* I think he would have chosen it too.
(By the way, this is sounding hilariously horrible out of context. [“Yes, I like how he was killed.”] Bookworms are just as weird as authors. 😉 )
For some reason, though, Fry’s was quite the shock. I had come to respect him in Ember Falls, and it didn’t help that it was spoiled for me in a most abrupt manner. *Rueful laugh* We have trouble keeping book-secrets in our house. XD
Internal fanfiction is great, especially since the author (or anybody, for that matter) will never have to realize how crazy their character’s life just got. And if something doesn’t fit, it is easily disposed of.
There are bunches of opportunities in WFs for fanfics!
And that’s okay, we were too Ember crazy for a year or two to attempt looking into much else. XD
