          @godlyfantasy12 Awwwwwwwwwwwww………… I love Paxton already!!! He sounds SO CUTE!

          @writerlexi1216
          *sighs over your wonderful characters for the eightieth time* They’re so wonderful. Have I told you yet how much I ADORE Newton’s stutter? I have a weakness for charries with stutters…and sad backstories…and blond hair and blue eyes… Like, I seriously think you made him just for me!!!! Can I keep him?

          And what’s this? Deek gets scarred? YASSSSSS! Wait, no. I mean, NOOOOOOOOO! Sorry, I just…I have a charrie with a scar on her left eye, and she’s blind now, and I feel a kinship with scarred and/or half-blind charries. And is it wrong to say that just makes him AWESOMER?

          Okay, I think I promised that I would talk about Billy.

          So I will.

          I created this adorable, poor little kid (okay, he was fifteen) to be a very minor character in Held Captive. Then I decided, you know, to give him a future one day, so know he’ll grow up and become a pastor.

          But at the moment, he’s eighteen years old and the most adorable little thing ever (as little as an eighteen-year-old can be, I guess). We’ve been slowly getting to know each other, and I’ve been watching him grow over the last three years, and it’s been amazing! He’s quickly become one of my favorites!

          He was orphaned at twelve, left to take care of his six-year-old sister on the streets. She died two years later, and Billy ended up working as cabin boy on a merchant ship that was captured by pirates. Pirates that just so happened to be captained by Rina Blackstone.

          He started out this lost little boy, and now he’s so mature and wise and he’s preaching to everyone and he’s just the sweetest thing! And yet…I end up hurting him so badly…

          But he’s still sweet! He’s one of my best characters, and I never thought I’d like him so much!

            @Gracie-j

            Aww, thank you, Grace!!! *puts hand over heart* I told myself I wouldn’t start fangirling, but OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE BILLY he’s just the SWEETEST little thing and I FEEL SO SORRY FOR HIM and WHY DID YOU HURT HIM? *ahem* See? I didn’t fangirl that much. Anyways, yes, Billy sounds amazing, and I want to know more about him!

            And thank you! Y’know, I actually thought about removing Newton’s stutter, but then I realized how much it impacted his character and added to his many struggles of life (sorry, Newton), so I kept it. And it adds another layer to he and Caira’s romance, too, because he worries that she’s embarrassed of him, which, of course she isn’t. And… *sigh*, I suppose I could share him for a little while XD Yes, please fangirl as much as you’d like! YES! Deek does get scarred (possibly in the second or third book, though). It’s a pretty huge scar, too–from his lower forehead to his chin, I believe (and possibly half blinds him). What a coincidence that you have a charrie like that, too! Who is she?

              THANK YOU so much!! (And, without a doubt, I’m definitely a #1 fan of TSW, too! 😉 ) YAY!! I was hoping I’d get to read more about your wonderful charries because I love them so much!!! *ahem* Yeah, I thought the same thing about mine XD I tend to type excessively long posts (especially when I’m monologuing about my characters…)

                So my Charries are, as follows, Corvina, Arabella, November, Jocelyn (and Nyx cuz they’re kinda a team), Grimm, Paxton and Dolunay.

                Grimm is kinda my brooding character but not in an overly dramatic or whatever sorta way. He’s super sweet and strong, but struggles intensely with grief and guilt.

                His sister, an Omega of the pack and born deaf (thus labeled unredeemable by the Alphas) was one of the Omegas to be killed. While Grimm was rescuing another Omega, no one was able to save Mirella (his sister) and because she can’t hear she didn’t know anyone was coming.

                She was killed, and the meadow she died In was labeled their burial/honoring ground where all of the other past rebels were laid, and the other Omegas who were killed.

                Even without his sister’s death that day was a horrible tragedy and is a stain on everyone’s mind, because many Omegas were not saved and were executed. 🥺

                        So, I’ve been trying to decide which characters to rant about, as to help me develop them…I think maybe you guys have heard of my project The Mafia of Heather Flights? Which I’m currently plotting… Anyways, I did the most plotting and world building for this one, so…

                        Y’know what. I’ll talk about them some other day. Let me talk about this one work which I have no developed at all. 49 White Blossoms, temp title. I’m not really sure what it’s about yet, I just know it’s about dreams mixed with reality.

                        The main character is a minor character featured in my fantasy saga, Thirteen Ways to Infinity, except that’s a different timeline and he goes by a different name there. He’s called Zhao Shuangzhou, or simply Shuangzhou, though he also goes by Adrian. I call him Adrian when it’s convenient. I think I’ll refer to him as Adrian from hereon, though not actually in writing.

                        He’s 16 or 17, a high school student, maybe he’s 15 beforehand, though I’m not sure. He’s a human with psychic powers, which means that he can read other people’s emotions and also do some other cool stuff, maybe picking up thoughts or learning about things when he puts his hands on them. I’ve had a hard time incorporating that into the story so far, ngl, because it feels more of a slice of life right now. But I’ll work on it, which is why it’s on break.

                        Basically the story premise goes something like this. When he sleeps he wakes up in an alternate reality where he doesn’t have powers, in his dreams. There, he’s challenged to save his classmates after being a cold onlooker for so long. Whether or not the true reality is in the dreams or not is not made clear. At some point I think I’ll make it more confusing between the two.

                        Personality-wise, he’s quite emotionless. He’s very calm, more on the quiet side, and is focused on his own work rather than others. He had a friend once, who actually pulled him out of his shell, but she got killed by a car. So he’s mainly quiet, and doesn’t really care about others.

                        He’s most influenced by his older half brother, Luwan, who’s one of the more major characters in The Mafia of Heather Flights. Luwan’s always taken very good care of him, but Luwan’s absent-minded, a criminal, in jail…. I can elaborate on him more later, I guess.

                        Anyways, I guess if you have any questions or comments, feel free to ask. I’d like to know more about him too.

                          @godlyfantasy12 @writerlexi1216 @devastate-lasting @gracie-j @abigail-m

                          Question for all of you: Do you have that one quiet character in your novel who doesn’t have a whole lot of dialogue or play an especially huge role in the story (like a minor or semi-secondary charrie), but adds a lot of strength to the novel?

                          For The Apostle’s Sister, that one character would definitely be Timothy, Paul’s young helper. Timothy’s pretty quiet and shy and a lot of times others don’t realize how incredibly strong he really is. He enters the novel at the same age as Reuben (15 or 16, forget exactly which), so they quickly form a friendship. Though they’re very different from each other, only one difference being that Reuben gets married and has a daughter while Timothy follows in Paul’s footsteps and remains a bachelor his whole life. 😂

                          Anyways. I love Timothy because he’s a really uplifting part of my cast, I feel like. Now that I’ve thought about it, he is the one who really helps Seth realize his value (although Seth doesn’t exactly realize). This is not only because Timothy is extremely empathetic; it’s also because he actually understands Seth from personal experience. Timothy had an abusive father (who actually stoned Paul in Lystra) and although he dearly loves his mother and grandmother, every lad needs a loving father and there’s always something missing if he doesn’t have one. Paul becomes Timothy’s father instead, although they’re not at all related, and loves him the same he loves Reuben and Seth. In fact Timothy has similarities with both Seth and Reuben because Reuben also had an abusive father (and Seth had abusive parents), and Paul has become the loving father to all three of them. So Timothy is really able to help Seth just by his quiet presence. Seth often thinks he can’t be loved since he isn’t flesh and blood to Temira and Paul – but Temira and Paul do love him as much as if he were their flesh and blood. The same as they love Timothy although Timothy doesn’t “belong” to them even by adoption. (I don’t know if any of this makes any sense, lol.)

                          My favorite thing about Timothy is his love for Paul and Temira. It’s just sooooo sweet. Timothy is super protective of Temira because she’s the sister of the teacher he loves, and it’s just so sweet!!!! Lots of times the other characters don’t really understand Temira and basically try to tell her to “chill out” although she really can’t and that’s not her fault because of the trauma she’s been through. But Timothy is never like that with her. He just listens and he truly empathizes with and understands the anxiety and pain that comes with her love for Paul. Although Timothy doesn’t have a ton of dialogue or a particularly huge role in the novel, he adds so much strength and I don’t think the book would be half as powerful without him. He always happens to be the one who lifts Temira up and gives her encouragement to keep going, and she’s so grateful to him for his loyalty to her brother. Timothy treats Temira like a mother. It’s amazing.

                          Can I just put in a conversation from Timothy and Temira that I love? XDD This quote comes when he’s talking to Temira while she panics over a haunting prophecy about Paul. It’s one of Timothy’s very few vulnerable, talkative moments.

                          She looked tearfully at Timothy. “I just want Paul back. I thought I wanted him to tell me he wouldn’t go to Jerusalem, but now that he’s gone, I know he himself is all I want.”

                          “Paul loves you. You are his sister,” Timothy replied simply.

                          “I know, and that’s what hurts me most of all. He loves me even though I said I hated him.”

                          “I’m not going to pretend I understand,” Timothy said so honestly she paused and listened to him. “I am not Paul’s sister.”

                          “At least you understand that. At least you understand you can never understand. No one else understands that.”

                          Timothy smiled, and she realized how funny it sounded, but was not in the mood to smile. “You are Paul’s one and only little sister,” he said soberly. “No one knows and loves him as you do. So I hope you won’t mind my feeble attempt here, but I want to say something to you, Temira. I love your brother more than any man who ever lived. Ever since I met him he’s been a father to me and given me the honor of being his son in the faith. So I can say that I fear for him, too. When Agabus came, I pleaded with him not to go on to Jerusalem just as you and your sons were doing. Temira, you and Reuben, and now Seth, have shared Paul so generously with me. You’ve allowed me to be a part of your family. I feel you’re a second mother to me.”

                          This was the most she had ever heard Timothy say at once. “Of course you are a part of our family, and you are as much of a son to Paul as his two nephews are. And a son to me as well. You’ve been good and faithful to my brother.”

                          “Thank you. You’ve given me dear brothers and sisters in the faith, too, and Paul has always taught me to treat all women as my own sisters. He’s shown me that through the way he loves you. I see his love for you is very, very great. Everyone sees that. I’m sorry… I’m not so good at explaining… but maybe you see what I’m trying to say. I’m trying to say that I have never seen anyone love his sister as much as Paul does, and that’s only one of the reasons I admire and love Paul so much.”

                          – TAS pages 279-280

                          AWWWWWWWW

                          Okay, I need to take my characters’ advice and chill out myself. XDDDD We all know that’s never gonna happen….

                              @joy-caroline I was wondering how you fit Timothy into the story!!! Girl, you have made him come to life!

                              As for a quiet but strong character? Well, there is Lissy–but I say that because she exists throughout an entire 200k book but doesn’t show up or say anything until, like, the last five chapters. And yet she’s the whole reason to story exists, so…

                              I can’t wait to find out more about her! I’m slowly coming to see that her character is much more vibrant and important than just a minor character, so she’ll definitely have a larger role in the future!

                              But as for actual quiet characters who do show up? Prolly Tomas in Prisoner at Heart. (Be still my heart…this broody lad has stolen my affections…but that’s a story for another day.) Or even most of my characters, like Elliot and Keaton, in Held Captive. They don’t say or do a lot, and they don’t have a lot of screen time, but they are so there throughout the entire story!

                              @devastate-lasting
                              Thank you!

                              @writerlexi1216
                              AW! THANK YOU! YOU HAVE JUST MADE BILLY’S DAY! (Which considering no one, not even his wife, says anything nice about/to him, probably wouldn’t take much, but still.) And you’ve made mine too! Why did I hurt him? Uh, why do we hurt any of our characters? For their own good, of course! But, no, I…uh…it’s more like for the good of another charrie, so Billy’s just kinda like the middle man that suffers because of everyone else’s stupidity, you know?

                              DON’T TAKE HIS STUTTER AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s just, like, the cutest thing EVER! And what you said about him thinking Caira’s embarrassed by him???? Squee!!! I love these guys SO MUCH!

                              Poor Deek! But also, scars look cool, so… Cool Deek! XD Rina, actually. Hers runs from above her left brow, through her eye (blinding her), and down to the curve of her jaw. It’s a pretty long, jagged scar, but not puckered or anything. (Psst, I think it looks cool, but don’t tell her that. XD)

                              Question for everyone: who is the very, absolute worst (like, down to the marrow, foulest of foul, vilest of vile) villain you have EVER created?

                                @gracie-j

                                Thank you! I’m glad you think so. I love Timothy’s personality in TAS, he is just so sweet and courteous and just… I love him.

                                Wow! That’s a really interesting idea, to have a character be the whole reason for the story when they don’t show up until the final chapters. I would really like to hear more about that. If you want, of course. I understand if you don’t want to spoil anything!

                                As for the vilest villain I have ever created, there are so many horrible ones in TAS that I can’t choose just one. Roman governors Felix and Festus, King Herod Agrippa II, Emperor Nero, et cetera et cetera. But I didn’t really create them since they’re in the Bible, so I’ll name a villain I created completely from scratch in my imagination.

                                That would be Paul and Temira’s uncle, Hananiah.

                                Hananiah is the brother of Paul and Temira’s father Enoch. Enoch and Hananiah never got along in anything except hating their own father, Paul and Temira’s grandfather. They’re the kind of brothers who search for every possible way they can hurt one another, and they compete maliciously in everything (mostly who is the most pious in the Jewish sect of Pharisees). We can tell that Hananiah has always been jealous of Enoch, though, because Enoch’s son is obviously a Pharisee of very elevated standing who is the pride of the high priests’ hearts. Also because Temira is much more beautiful than Hananiah’s daughter. Hananiah took a fiendish satisfaction when Temira ended up barren for years, then widowed.

                                When Paul returns to Tarsus for Temira, she refuses him at first and tells him she never wants to see him again. That Sabbath Paul goes to the synagogue and ends up speaking there when he’s called up to read from the scrolls. Long story short, Temira rescues Paul from a stoning at the hands of Hananiah, who leads the family and declares he warned Paul if he kept talking about Jesus his uncle would drag him out himself and stone him to death. But Temira is not able to rescue Paul from torture at their uncle’s hands. While severely scourging Paul, Hananiah tries to force him to admit that Jesus is unreal, promising that if Paul does so Hananiah will stop the lashing and the pain. Of course Paul doesn’t do this, and Temira, who is being forced to watch at Hananiah’s orders, pleads with Paul to just comply but of course he still doesn’t. So in a nutshell, Hananiah almost murders Paul…

                                Yeah, he’s definitely evil. How about you, Grace? What’s the worst villain you’ve created?

                                  I’m glad you’ve liked TSW so far:) I’m probably going to post a few really short scenes that show their personalities and or friendship with one another, plus the monologue:)
