Riker stumbled forward, evidently confused. āUhā¦hello? Is thatā¦.Paxton, Crosshair!? Itās meā¦itās Riker.ā
“You were just here, a minute ago.” Crosshair tried to explain. “What, did you hit your head?”
Riker stepped a bit into the light, exposing the markings on his uniform (I’m assuming he has, like, at least a patch or badge or something that betrays his allegiances). “No, why?”
Crosshair restrained a shudder as he surveyed the other man’s clothing.
His time in the Empire had taught him how to discern a symbol of evil…..
And while he’d never seen this particular one before, it had an air of menace to it.
(I’m pretty sure Riker’s gonna notice Cross eyeing it…you can write that if you want)
Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.

but first a little bit about her
*me totally taking this opportunity to rant about my Charrie XD*
Mary has long, wavy, dark brown hair, and her eyes are a blueish brown (is that even an eye color XD) her outfit looks a lot like a certain Winter Soldier XD and she wears a black mask to hide her age
she’s very confident in her skills but every now and then she wonders if she’s on the right side

I looked around the castle, my entrance had been louder than I should have wished. I had my mission to get Falon and Alex, dead or alive. Which made my job a little easier.
I heard footsteps coming close to me and I prepared to fight. Who knows maybe it was the two girls I was looking for.

@keilah-h yes, he has the double lightning-bolt-like symbol on the collar of his black uniform, and his uniform cap has the SS skull&crossbones symbol as well
Riker
Crosshair was studying him with scrutiny, maybe even concern or judgement.
Not that Riker wasn’t used to being judged.
He followed Crosshair’s gaze to his uniform. Riker looked down at his uniform. A symbol of his own mistakes. His own shame. His own regret. His own guilt. It was something that reminded him of who he was.Ā A mistake. A murderer.
“Is everything alright?” Riker asked quietly.
Ooh, she sounds really interesting!!!! āØ
Alex
Alex stayed in battle-ready position, and noticed Falon and Alexa did the same.
She inched closer and closer to the sound.
She stopped just a few inches from where the sound had come from. There was someone else, so the sound must have come from them falling or something. Alex got into an even readier position.

āWho are you!? Do you mean any harm?ā Alex asked me, I knew all about her and all about her powers.
I didn’t say anything, I never talk on a mission, my actions spoke for me. I charged at them, beginning the fight.
“I think she means harm!” Falon yelled as she charged back at me.
me, Falon, and Alex fought for a few minutes. I had damaged them quite a bit but I hadn’t won yet.
Finally I wrestled Alex to the ground but she managed to get the upper hand and with a big kick from Falon I went flying to the ground, and my mask came off.
“You’re a teenager,” Falon said as I lifted my head.
So her mask comes off in the book (or that’s my plan) in front of Natasha XD so she might want to get a mask that actually fits her XD

-Thorne@freedomwriter76 the alphabet in the Star WarsĀ universe is different from ours, so Cross won’t recognize the symbol as a double S, but he might see the lightning bolt. He has a skull symbol of his own adorning his armor’s shoulder plates, but it doesn’t seem to have evil connotations (if you know what I mean), it’s just his squad’s insignia.

No, it’s not, Crosshair wanted to growl, but he kept his mouth shut for now.

For all he knew, the man could be another Hemlock or Nolan.
A torturer of his own kind…….
But wait…..
This is the same man who fought alongside Feather, Rinzler, and I when we were battling the castle’s owner….
The same one who stood up to his rather unpleasant father, and quite obviously cared for his family.
Maybe I’m misjudging…..but those symbols look a lot more menacing than Riker has been every time I’ve seen him. Is he hiding something?

“It’s…it’s…” How did he explain what it meant? How could he explain that it said and showed that he was a murderer? “It means….it’s the Country, and the Army I’m in and fight for.”

He looked regretful.
Like he’d committed an atrocity.
Like maybe he’d killed somebody, or several somebodies, or maybe kept consistently sending his friends to their deaths…….
Crosshair shook off that thought. No, that was his own mind, projecting his problems on other people.
Nobody else knew what it was like to watch everyone else desert you, did they?
He lifted his hand to the side of his head, his fingers just barely brushing the scar there.
A reminder of his choices.
A reminder of what he’d done.
Maybe it should’ve been him wearing the dark insignia on his uniform, stalking in the dark in an abandoned castle, where he couldn’t hurt anyone.
(oh boy……we’re going down THAT thought path. I’m not sure what to do next. Maybe Riker notices the scar and asks how he got it? Or IDK, maybe he knows already, I don’t remember.)

Paxton hid his face, taking a few steps back and nearly tripping over the rubble in doing so.

Paxton wasnāt sure what heād done wrong, but something must have set the man off. The boy wrapped his fingers around Hopeās middle, squeezing his eyes shut as he stood away from both parties, no longer feeling quite as safe as he did beforeā¦
He slowly rocked back and forth as he rubbed his face against the coarse fur of Hopeās head.
He wished Ember were here. Or Wulf.
He wanted his sisterā¦

Paxton edged away from them both.
Crosshair’s hands reached towards a scar on his face.
Riker raised an eyebrow.
He knew it may be rude to intrude on his privacy…and Crosshair had a complete right to be suspicious of Riker, but somehow, maybe,Ā just maybeĀ asking about it could help both of them calm down.
“…Where did you get that scar? Y-you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.”
@freedomwriter76 Ha, I love the kinda awkward dynamic among the three…. oh and Crosshair’s scar isn’t on his face, it’s on the side of his head, about above his ear I think.

“Where did you get that scar?” Riker asked. “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.”
There’s no point in hiding it, he already noticed….so you might as well tell him.
Crosshair sighed. “It’s an old burn scar. I stood too close to an active rocket engine.”
Riker nodded, although he didn’t seem to completely understand. “I see….”
“I was only trying to scare them out of their hiding place……” The words were out of Crosshair’s mouth before he fully realized they were spoken out loud.
Riker looked confused. “What?”
“The reason I was there?” Crosshair forced himself to look him straight in the eyes. “My siblings were hiding in an old wrecked warship. I……was sent to kill them. It failed…….as you can see…..They tried to talk me out of fighting them. I chose not to listen…..and this is what I have to show for it.”
Those memories were painful for more than one reason.
