A monsterā¦.
Paxtonās hands trembled as he brought Hope closer to his chest.
Inky black tentacles, reaching outā¦graspingā¦gropingā¦pulling at his skin. The sticky saliva that dripped from the beastās teeth. Itās foul breath, heating Paxtonās face.
The blood from his palm that circled about themā¦taunting the creatureā¦drawing him closerā¦and closerā¦
A scar given to him by the one whoād been supposed to care for himā¦
The one whoād been supposed to love him the mostā¦

And before Paxton knew what he was doing, he was folded against himself, crying.
āPaxton!ā He tensed as a hand gently touched his shoulder, jerking away. He shook his head, covering his ears as he began to rock back and forth.

Paxton uncovered his ears, feeling the dampness beneath his cheeks.

āSnowā¦?ā Grimm whispered, not daring to reach out a hand, which Paxton was thankful for.
Paxton took up his bear again, nodding slowly. He wiped his eyes with his sleeve, reaching out with on arm for Ember. He made contact, quickly leaning into the ginger.
The teen blinked in surprise, flushing. He looked at Grimm, eyes wide. The dark-haired boy merely smiled.
November slowly wrapped his arms around Paxton, pulling him into his lap and whispering in his ear.

Luna peeked her head around the corner, voices buzzing in her ear. A faint smile twitched at her lips, though she knew she should keep her optimism in check.
There wasnāt a huge chance it was her friendāsā¦butā¦hopefully whoever it was was friendly.
Luna followed the stream of voices until she ran into a small group of curious looking young men. Or who appeared to be young men.
Two seemed to be of different races. The one, however, who appeared to be her age, looked perfectly human.
Luna smiled politely as the group turned to her. She waved, laughing a bit awkwardly.

A dragon? Noā¦ there was no way.
Both siblings stared at Feather, Beth in disbelief and Simon in complete fascination.
āBut dragons are extinct.ā Beth said.
Simon looked at his sister with a grin. āI want to see the dragon, Beth. My head is fine for now.ā
Beth glared at him, but then slowly her own sly smile spread across her face.
āWhat dragon? You know dragons donāt exist anymore, Simon. Clearly youāre delirious. You need rest.ā And, before he could protest, she led him down the hall.
They found a bedroom easily. They seemed to be numerous in the castle. Simon fell asleep quickly after Beth made him drink some water. Once he was asleep, she slipped out into the hall, and closed the door noiselessly behind her. She turned to the others who had waited outside.
āSo, who wants to stay here with me and who wants to go look for medicine?ā

A group ofĀ people was standing near the windows in a almost observatory-like room. A human girl smiled and waved them over.
Luca immediately ran over to them and almost tripped over himself in his excitement.
Typical.
Derek walked over, arms crossed.
“Hi! I’m Skyler,” the girl said. She motioned to the older boys behind her. “These are my older brothers Destry and Fynn.”
I’m not falling for that, thanks.
Luca waved. “Hi! I’m Lucaandwejustgoteatenbythefloor,” he paused and thought a moment before continuing. “…whichmeansyoumust’vegotteneatentooand-”
Glaring at the group, Derek took his knife and piece of wood out of his belt and began whittling. He sighed. It was gonna be a long day.

After telling the Nadir family all his best secrets, inside jokes, and made Derek roll his eyes fifteen times, a girl with purple hair walked around the corner. She laughed and waved at them. “Umm… hello…”
Luca waved ecstatically.
However, before he could say hi, Fynn beat him to it. He ran his hand through his hair and said, “The name’s Fynn.” XD is anyone else getting “The name’s Bond… James Bond.” vibes from this??
Luca took his hat off. The flower…her hair..
He hurriedly took his flower out of the hat, and held it out to the new girl. “I’m Luca and this flower matches your hair!” He put his hat back on. “What’s your name?”

Eddie froze. In front of her was a group of five people: three adults, one in a wheelchair, and two little boys. The oldest boy was almost as tall as her. She quickly wiped away the tears that had been welling up in her eyes and then took a few steps forward.
