Riker
“Are you so much better? Is your blood any less red? V’ere you formed from a better dirt? Is your soul more worthy of ze Maker?”
Hans scoffed. Zlatan didn’t even blink, and he certainly didn’t move.
“Do you hold more control over your own mortality?”
Jezyk inched closer to Riker.
Riker wrapped one arm around his shoulders, pulling him close, trying to ease his own rapidly beating heart.
He hated arguments. Hated fighting of any kind.
And when Hans got angry…well, it reminded him of things…someone…he’d rather forget.
“But do you deserve to forget? Or have you deserved to be haunted?”
Riker shook his head, trying to shove away the voice that he heard quite often and quite clearly.
Hans glared at Zlatan. “I don’t have time for this, child,” He snarled through grit teeth, “and I certainly don’t have time for looking for that stupid boy’s oh, so precious friends. And I will not help you, no matter what-”
“November is not stupid.”
Hans turned to face Riker, fast, coal eyes shooting daggers. “Excuse me…!? What did you just say to me, Riker!?”
“That’s enough, Hans.” Fin practically growled, stepping in between Hans and Riker. “These people need help, and we will give it to them, no matter what you think about them.”
Hans met Fin’s eyes, glaring. “Fine. Help sub-humans if you wish, Fin. But Riker…”
Riker’s gaze fell to his boots. “Yessir?”
“Look at me for one moment.”
Riker silently obeyed, meeting Hans’ eyes with his own.
A slow smile spread across Hans’ face, and he nodded. “Good. You can obey. We will help these…people for now, but know this: insolence doesn’t go without consequences, Riker. Very painful consequences.”
It was both a threat and a promise.
Riker slowly nodded, swallowing the sudden bile that had risen in his throat. “Yessir. Understood, sir.”

awww, Riker! If Hans doesn’t back off on all of these guy’s soon he’s in big trouble! I feel like he’s gonna have a sad backstory that will make me feel sorry for him, but for now I’ll just be angry at him XD
Nice writing!

Dante
Dante stayed crouched in the shadows, assessing the situation. Ever since the confrontation with Steve and the strange light that had teleported him across the castle, Dante had been more jumpy than usual. He decided that he would not run off on his own and abandon Ellie, at least not this time.
The newcomers climbed carefully through the window and Dante stood. The woman stood tall in the middle of the hallway, and introduced herself in a strong voice.
“I am High General Serin Ki Untikal. First daughter of King Ourbrine, and heir to his throne. Princess of the Pelgarkine race.”
She was trying to be intimidating. He didn’t like when people tried to intimidate him.
“Very cool.” Layson said absentmindedly, as his little daughter ran around his feet. “So… we can call you Serin?”
Dante grinned as a twinge of annoyance flashed across Serin’s face. He strode forward, hands in his pockets.
“Military and Royalty? That is pretty impressive, I guess.”
He stopped in front of her and held out one red hand for a handshake.
“I’m Dante Tucker from Planet 4C. Nice to meet you, Princess.”
(sorry that took a while, I was distracted again)

November
Stupid boy
The words made November visibly flinch. Maybe it was the force held behind them. Or the way the man looked at him when he said it.
Or the familiar, cool gaze in his dark eyes…
“November is not stupid.”
November looked up suddenly, heart wrenching in his chest. He bit the inside of his cheek, realizing only now that a single tear had slipped from his eyes.
Riker’s gaze fell on the ginger. Soft, loving.
Kind.
November’s shoulders eased slightly, until Han’s voice broke through the calmness, raging at Riker.
Fin broke it up, but…
“….insolence doesn’t go without consequences, Riker. Very painful consequences.”
Hans’ words made November’s stomach twist. He shuddered, gaze lowering to the floor.
W-What had he done?
His hands shook as he wrapped them around himself, imagining whatever punishment this…man had in mind for Riker.
He knew now…knew from past experiences that the world wasn’t as pretty as the place he’d grown up in.
Ha! Even that place had been a lie…
It hadn’t been very pretty either. But…but he thought it was.
Thought it was all normal…
His heart burned, throat going dry as his palms began to sweat. Heat rushed through his skin and his vision blurred slightly.
He squeezed his eyes shut.
No. Not now. He couldn’t now….
He let out a small breath, coaxing the flames inside to quell.
He slowly turned his head back up, only to see that Riker’s face was still ghostly pale, the man’s eyes looking off elsewhere. The warmth in his gaze gone.
Jezyk seemed just as frightened…
And Fin…didn’t seem like he could do anything about it.
November turned his eyes to meet Hans’ dark ones.
This was Riker’s commanding officer…apparently. Though November wasn’t familiar with any of their terms, he could see for himself what was evident.
This man could probably do what he liked to Riker. And…get away with it.
But…could he do the same to November?
The thought struck the ginger for a moment, making him bite the bottom of his lip.
In this castle…he supposed anyone could do anything…
And…maybe saying something would do more harm then good…but…
He….
Couldn’t let Riker get hurt.
Not for him.
Not after everything.
November swallowed down his nerves, to the best of his ability, shakily looking into Hans’ eyes. He hugged himself tighter, wincing at the sudden feeling of being home again.
A young boy, standing up to his father…
Not that that had turned out very well….
He could still almost feel the slap to the face….
He sucked in a breath as Hans raised a brow.
“Something to say, boy?”
November glanced once more at Riker’s who slightly shook his head.
“I-I…” November pursed his lips. “Don’t punish Riker. You don’t have to help me find anyone, really. And…there’s no reason to punish him for…for accidentally speaking out of line.”
November kept his gaze level, despite how badly he wanted to look away.

Riker! November! Noooo!!! Why do you do this to me? *Sobs*(Shove off, Hans)
Vulkasin
Great burning sunset. This creature didn’t just call Zlatan a child, did he? Yes, and now he was saying Novembré was stupid! So first they were useless, and now they were ridiculous? Of all irony. His hands trembled slightly as he clenched them into fists. If only he was a step or two closer…
Blood ran cold at the smile that spread across this officer’s face, then turned white hot with his words. “We will help these…people for now, but know this: insolence doesn’t go without consequences, Riker. Very painful consequences.” Riker slowly nodded, his face going a shade or two whiter.
This was too much. He glanced aside in time to see Zlatan’s shoulders bunch in a flinch, his brother’s eyes go cold with memory. Consequences. No officer should treat his men like this, even if it was within his legal right.
Vulkasin’s heart boiled in wrath. The metallic smell of blood came to him over whatever poultices covered his brother’s back as all his senses screamed. Blood that had been shed by an officer eerily like Hans.
The twitching in his fingers stopped as the world began to sharpen and fade. His hand closed around his sword. Stone settled over his usually open features.
“I-I…” A voice he recognized pulled at him, slowly dragging him back. November was no longer standing beside him. “Don’t punish Riker.”
Ah, Novembré.
“You don’t have to help me find anyone, really. And…there’s no reason to punish him for…for accidentally speaking out of line.”
Vulkasin loosened his grip on his sword hilt, realizing just how close he’d come to charging the man. Instead, he stepped up behind November, quietly adding his height to his friend’s argument.

@godlyfantasy12. NOVEMBER!!!! *hugs him tight* I LOVE YOU SOOOO MUCHHHHH!!!!! <3333
@koshka. I understand your anger, Vulkasin. I really do.And everyone
mightwill get even more angry at Hans after this one. Heh.Erich
The redhead boy, November, stood up for Riker, and one of the tall young men, Vulkasin, stood behind him, likely using his height as a possible tool to intimidate.
Erich glanced back and forth between the people involved in the argument. He was used to arguments.
Who wasn’t?
Everyone had seen them…and he’d seen them quite often. Now, as an Officer, and when he was younger…but those had mostly been about him.
Erich’s fists clenched at the memories that tried to surface, as he tried to shove them back.
But some of it still surfaced.
“Please. Let Erich stay.”
“He no longer holds our beliefs, Isaac. He must go. He is no longer welcome here.”
“He’s been studying! He’s been learning the Holy Scriptures since we adopted him! Please, Rabbi, let him stay.”
The Rabbi slowly shook his head, his eyes roving over Erich, full of judgement. “He can’t stay, Isaac. As I said, he no longer holds our beliefs, so he must go. Maybe you and Maryanne should have thought of this before adopting a non-Jewish boy into your home.”
Erich pinched the bridge of his nose, shoving back the memory.
That was one secret he would never reveal.
Hans’ voice brought him back into the present, and Erich lowered his hand so no one would notice that he was acting different. “I don’t have to do anything you say, boy. Riker didn’t accidentally speak out of line; he made a choice to. He is a fool. And nothing but one. Have you never learned when to shut your mouth?” He snarled at November.
“That’s enough, Hans.” Fin snarled, stepping in between Hans and the newcomers, again. “This isn’t a way to greet guests. And besides, you have no power over Riker anymore, no matter how much you think you do. You transferred him over to the camp, remember? Now I’m his Commanding Officer, not you, and you have no control over him. And you certainly can’t punish him. That’s my duty now.”
“I transferred Riker over to you to toughen him up. He refused to participate in the interrogations.”
Fin shrugged. “Either way, he’s under my command now, not yours.”
Well, Hans lost that one, Erich thought.
At least the argument was over.
But a smile spread across Hans’ face again, and Erich paused.
Why was he smiling?
Hans laughed, setting a hand on Fin’s shoulder. “Oh, Fin, but you don’t quite understand. Maybe Riker isn’t exactly under my command anymore, but Riker goes to visit his mother and sister every other weekend, does he not?”
Erich raised an eyebrow. What did Riker’s family have to do with anything?
Fin’s eyes suddenly softened, and he glanced over at Riker, concern in his gray eyes, before turning back to Hans. “Yes, yes he does.”
Hans smirked. “Exactly,” He removed his hand from Fin’s shoulder, “and I am an old friend of his family. I’ve known them for years. I fought in the Great War, Fin, remember? I was Riker’s father’s commanding officer, and we became friends after the war. And Franz wouldn’t like to hear about Riker’s insolence, would he, Riker…?”

Okay, I apologize in advance for this Dante XD
SERIN
The blond Layson was the first to respond to her title. “Very cool” he said idly, watching his young daughter run around. “So… we can call you Serin?”
A muscle ticked in Serin’s jaw. She felt the title deserved a bit more respect than, ‘very cool’.
She rested her stick bottom down like a staff, not willing to part with it if it was her only means of defense. She figured this group was harmless, but she never took chances. Not to mention that there could be others in the castle with them.
Her eyes darted to the side as she noticed that the one-eyed boy, Dante, was moving closer in a confident stride with hands in his pockets. He had a careless grin on his face that reminded her instantly of Kun’en. “Military and Royalty? That is pretty impressive I guess.”
Serin sighed quietly through her nose. They all seemed to be missing the point of her name. But she supposed it was obvious that they wouldn’t understand her burden. Few did.
Then the boy did something that really set her off. Taking a red hand out of his pocket, he extended it forward. Serin hardened her face in confusion. Wait, does he want me to…? He probably had no idea what the gesture meant to her, but it didn’t quell the fact that her brow now twitched in anger.
“I’m Dante Tucker from Planet 4C. Nice to meet you, Princess.” That was Kun’en’s nickname for her. Ironically, it annoyed her less coming from a stranger, but that didn’t excuse his insulting hand.
Lifting her stick, she flipped it dull side up before knocking the offending appendage away. Then she brought the makeshift staff forward until it was lightly poking him in the chest. “You never offer to touch me.” She hissed. Direct contact was only for family and married couples, for a stranger to offer it was a terrible insult.
Seeing that her message was received, Serin pulled back. Looking back over at Layson she said curtly, “Serin is fine.” Bringing her eyes over to Ellie’s, she asked, “what do you know about this castle?”
Again, sorry, but he just did so many things that I knew would upset her specifically XD
