btw, I don’t think Denali would mind if u went ahead and magically “erased” the previous meeting of ur Charrie with her Charrie so u can use Viktor.

i tempted to pull Sofia out (somehow) now, because I have a much better idea of her, but don’t want her getting too developed for the WIP. I am willing to insert a different character from the same WIP if you want, because there are definitely a few who still need figuring out, but I’d probably wait until next week.

I don’t know how Sofia’s go, probably just wander off and disappear altogether.

Do you mind if I pull her out?

Whatever you want to do, I don’t mind. She’s been fun!

          @godlyfantasy12

To explain what may sound a bit strange; the twins’ fights as kids usually ended a headlock, mostly on Zlatan. So anything close to one he will vaguely view a poetic justice. XD

Okay! 😉 We’ll see what we can do…

            Alyona

The stew was quickly divided up among the group. Thankfully, there seemed to be enough for everyone.

Which meant there would be none to fill a bottle for the journey.

Oh well, bread kept better anyway.

She settled in on a stool beside the fireplace, just where a servant may be expected to sit. Also, the best position to avoid notice.

However, while everyone else sat at the table, Zlatan RedCloak stood on the other side of the fireplace to eat. Perhaps there wasn’t room at the table; he had waited to get his last.

Suddenly, Arabella’s gentle voice broke through her thoughts.

            “Dresser of the sparrows,

            Father of the lilies,

            Thank you, Lord Provider,”

Realizing it was a prayer, Alyona closed her eyes and bowed her head. The girl continued as if it were a blessing learnt by heart.

            “For this meal o’ plenty,

And keep us in this day,

            Oh Holy, Lord Provider.”

It had ended, and the others were talking together, but Alyona kept her head bowed, tears pricking at her eyelids. She added to the prayer under her breath.

“And please, Lord Shepherd, see us now, and bring us home. And give me wisdom, and help Viktor, and comfort Mama and the rest. Thank you for watching over us. I love you.

She sniffed back the dampness in her eyes and took a bite of bread, letting it’s thick crumb fill her mouth.

And looked up in time to see JocelynBubbles come bounding behind Vulkasin and throw him in a chokehold of a hug.

He sputtered, shock filling his friendly face.

“Vat vas…!?” He shook his head as if clearing it of confusion. Jocelyn slid off and he turned and grinned at his brother.

            Apparently, something had been communicated.

She turned back to face the fire only to find Zlatan looking right. At. Her.

“You remind me of ze folk in ze kingdom souf of my home. If you don’t mind, v’ere do you come from?”

What kind of home does a sea-dwelling nomad have? Do I not mind? south of where? What do I say? She blinked and gathered her thoughts together.

“I’m from…” What if this got around to the Lord if this castle? He’d probably use the information to search for them – or rather her, he’d better not know Viktor was here too? Or would he even realize that one of his kitchen maids had vanished? Probably not. “Yartass.”

The whole group was watching them, listening to her response. She smiled and tipped her head at them, feigning pleasure.

Coming to her feet, “Oh, and would anyone like something to drink?”

She smoothly slid her bowl on the self behind her where it would be interesting, and picked up a pitcher. “There’s good water, and some wine, although it’s not strong, being just pressed.” Not that there wasn’t something stronger, because she didn’t intend to offer anything else.

Once more the group showed various reactions. Some seemed pleased, some less so. The fox seemed absolutely irritated.

            He really was cute.

Sure! Do whatever your characters need. 😉

I think one of the rules for this was that your characters could leave whenever.

I think I will pull her out, but atm I don’t want to bother writing her section where she disappears, so y’all can just pretend that she’s disappeared (“wandered away”) and she’s never seen again. (I don’t want to risk writing a section and losing it to my spotty connection)

                  The Gang

November’s face scrunched at the word “Wine.”

“Ah, I think we’ll take water,” Ara said, her smile small and dainty. Alyona obliged and poured some pitchers of water. “Though
I suppose Zlatan and Vulkasin are old enough for wine
”

She hadn’t really thought about drinking before. It wasn’t a very common occurrence in A’Grend, though they did make juices from the fresh grapes, there was no alcohol involved.

November seemed equally confused and disoriented by the question.

And Ara was sure Jocelyn didn’t need anything to make her more

                  Vibrant.

                  Nor did the little fox
though his nose did twitch at the smell of the fresh squeezed wine.

Alyona assured them it wasn’t strong, having been pressed recently, but if it was fermented, Ara would rather not take chances. Though Nyx seemed to ignore her multiple times and try to dip his snout into the pitcher.

                  November quickly lifted him up.

Besides, he was even younger then they.

                  “Spoilsport.” He hissed at November.

Zlatan and Vulkasin got their own drink, and Ara didn’t pay attention to what they got, figuring it was none of her business.

“So, where’s Yartass? Is it near here? You said you work here right? Do you work for the guy who owns this place?” Lyn was shooting questions like arrows, and each one made November wince. She was still bubbly as ever though. “We have no idea how we got here. Just
POOF! BAM! BOOM! Here we were! Also, guy who owns this place? Not super friendly! They haven’t met him,” she nodded her head at everyone, “But Nyx and I have.”

Nyx shook his head and licked his paws. “Rude old prune-face.”

Lyn laughed. “Yup! He definitely wasn’t the friendliest! Can’t imagine working for that guy!”

                  Alyona’s lips pulled taut.

                  November didn’t seem to notice.

                  ”Yea
it was kinda
disorienting
just appearing out of nowhere.” He blushed, remembering how he messed up everything in the armory. “Zlatan and Vulkasin found me soon after.”

”And I found them.” Ara said.

”And then we found them!” Lyn grinned.

                  ”Then we found Sofi-“

Ara glanced to where Sofia was sitting.

                  She was gone.

                  In fact
.thinking about it. She had been for a while. Ara couldn’t even remember the last she’d see Sofia.

                  “Sofia..?”

                  “Maybe she
maybe she left
.” November frowned. Everyone looked around but there was no sign of her.

                  Sofia was gone.

                  “Well
back to our questions I guess
” Attention turned back to Alyona.

                        Zlatan and Vulkasin

NovembrĂ©’s face twisted with disgust. Ara’s smile was small. ”

“Ah, I think we’ll take water, Though
I suppose Zlatan and Vulkasin are old enough for wine
”

Zlatan started, then looked to Vulkasin. Old enough? He knew of two year olds who drank their wine and water. He had been one. (Water purification or juice)

He looked back in time to see Nyx being dragged away from the wine flagon, licking his whiskers.

Vulkasin tried to smother his laugh as he poured his cup half of water, half the offending wine. Zlatan smirked, and got the same.

Lyn spun on Alyona. “So, where’s Yartass? Is it near here? You said you work here right? Do you work for the guy who owns this place? We have no idea how we got here. Just
POOF! BAM! BOOM! Here we were! Also, guy who owns this place? Not super friendly! They haven’t met him, but Nyx and I have.”

She laughed, and seemed to agree with an unspoken response. “Yup! He definitely wasn’t the friendliest! Can’t imagine working for that guy!”

                        November sighed. “Yea

“And I found them.” Ara said.

“And then we found them!” Lyn’s voice bounced with her.

Zlatan’s attention was arrested by the bowl on a shelf behind Alyona. Her bowl, still full, set aside. Who was she waiting for?

He looked back to the group, who had apparently turned back to the servant girl.

                          Alyona

November made a face and Arabella gave him a small smile.

                          ‘What did I say?’

“Ah, I think we’ll take water,” Arabella said demurely. Alyona filled her pitcher and filled three cups, keeping her eyes properly downcast.

                          “Though
I suppose Zlatan and Vulkasin are old enough for wine
”

Old enough for wine? Alyona looked up, face heating. She’d thought she’d made it clear that the wine was sweet. Alyona had made sure it wasn’t fermented like the Dorwains would have it. That kind was good for nothing except maybe cleaning.

She would never serve strong drink…unless maybe at sword point. Servitude put a different look on things.

Alyona finished filling the cups and retreated to the cupboard. Everyone seemed to be quietly enjoying each other’s company…or sitting awkwardly confused. Alyona wasn’t quite sure, but she suspected that there was more to the quiet than what was on the surface.

She watched amusedly as November removed a curious Nyx from the wine pitcher, brilliant scarlet liquid dripping from the fox’s whiskers. Nyx was far from pleased, , and Alyona smirked at the thought of was he would be saying if he could talk.

JocelynBubbles interrupted her musings with the same friendly exuberance that made Alyona smile even as she winced.

“So, where’s Yartass? Is it near here? You said you work here right? Do you work for the guy who owns this place?”

The questions hurtling upon her before she could think to avoid them. Alyona fidgeted with the fringe on her belt.

“We have no idea how we got here. Just
POOF! BAM! BOOM! Here we were! Also, guy who owns this place? Not super friendly! They haven’t met him,” she nodded at the others, “But Nyx and I have.”

They had met Lord Ocran? Alyona felt her blood run cold.

Nyx shook his head, and Alyona was almost certain he scowled. Jocelyn laughed at him, “Yup! He definitely wasn’t the friendliest! Can’t imagine working for that guy!”

Alyona cringed. What could she say to that?

                          November joined in.

                          ”Yea
it was kinda
disorienting
just appearing out of nowhere. Zlatan and Vulkasin found me soon after.” he blushed at some part of the memory,

“And I found them.” Ara brushed some crumbs from her skirt.

“And then we found them!” Jocelyn added triumphantly.

“Then we found Sofi-“ Arabella paused and stared at the place Sofia had been sitting.

                          “Sofia..?”

                          Sofia had vanished. Or…

                          “Maybe she
maybe she left
.” November swallowed anxiously.

There was certainly no sign of her.

                          “Well
back to our questions I guess
”

They all turned to look directly at her. Somehow, she felt there would be no sly avoidance this time.

She cleared her throat, which suddenly felt rather tight. “You asked about Yartass. It’s off to the south-west of here, I think. I’m not sure.” She wrinkled her forehead. What did they expect to be told? The two VoyageFolk would be able to answer better than she.

“Oh, and I don’t work for the lord…” She found it difficult to say that traitor’s name in a manner at all polite. “..of this castle exactly. I work for his Master Kitchener.”

Not that it made any difference, or that she planned to do so for very long.

Nyx seemed to have something wrong with him. He squeaked and leapt up from where he was licking up crumps and into Jocelyn’s lap.

Arabella frowned, then concern softened the expression.

                          “Are you happy here?”

” I haven’t been here long.” She bit her lip. Why were they so curious? She hadn’t interrogated them. Maybe she should start.

“Where are you from?” She picked up a rag and began swiping crumbs off the table.

                            Arabella

Alyona seemed done with their pandering questions. She swiped at the crumbs on the table with a rag, her eyes refusing to look at the group. “Where are you from?” She returned the Lyn’s questions back to them.

Ara glanced at the brothers, wondering who the question was aimed at. She flattened her skirt and figured she’d speak first.

She had nothing to hide, after all. And
the question made bright, vivid memories spring to mind.

“I-“ She halted, looking at November. She motioned at him, “We, November and I, are from A’Grend.”

Alyona stopped her work, her eyes looking confused. She’d obviously never heard of the place, which only made Ara’s fear for evident.

                            “I
I don’t think we’re from here.” She whispered, looking away. “Your world, I mean.”

The room grew silent and Ara’s eyes grew misty. Her mind was filled with budding flowers and clear blue skies. Birds sang sweet songs and people of all kinds milled about, whistling jaunty tunes.

                            And her castle
seated in the side of the mountain. It rose in the distance. She could see it so clearly
.

                            She wiped a single tear.

Not long ago she’d had to leave it all behind. Not by want, of course, but by need. She had to do it. To save it. To save everyone. But
it had been the hardest thing she’d ever done.

Traveling through her own world, a world she knew of only through books was hard enough, but now
.

Now she didn’t even know what world she was in.

She looked at November. He was staring at her, concern plaguing his blue eyes. She smiled.

                            At least she had November.

She hadn’t left everything behind, after all.

“I’m from Cirque!” Lyn’s bright voice cut through the melancholy. Her smile brought a glimmer of joy to the gloominess and she hopped up from where she was seated. Nyx climbed to her shoulder. “I met Ara and November a while back.”

Alyona’s eyes lingered on Lyn and then returned to Ara and November, searching them, as of for some
semblance of recognition. Trying to decide if they really were from some
other world.

It was obvious by the look on her face and her wide eyes that she’d never heard of these places.

Her eyes ticked to the brothers, as of hoping they could at least offer some sort of
answer.

In truth, Ara was also curious as to where the brothers were from, as they had yet to tell her and her friends. Zlatan seemed rather melancholy about it, much like Ara, and she wondered if, he too missed his home as much as she.

                              Zlatan and Vulkasin

They were all looking at the brothers now, curiosity fully flamed.

Zlatan sighed. A memory of heat in the halls during the day brought a deep yearning for his snow crested home, although he was positive November had been shivering. The sharp smell of spruce and larch seemed just out of reach.

“Ah, domoi.” Zlatan’s voice was gentle, yet formal. “I and my brot’er are from the Zemvulkn (I’m still working on their kingdom’s actual name), of ze tribe NadeĆŸ. My father’s name is Vratislav, a Sotnik in his own right. I know not how ve came to be ‘ere, only zat ze owner of zees castle has much to explain.” He refused to call him a lord.

He blinked, and found he had been staring into the fire.

                              Vulkasin

Vulkasin was more serious than he had been their entire time here. But he shook himself, and his regular grin appeared.

“Ah, for the land of ice and stone, where the wild live in whole and free.” He laughed, yellow-green eyes sparkling.

@koshka I just realized that my Wolf charrie(s) (they’re shifters like Corvina) live in a snowy land like Vulkasin and Zlatan! (Grimm is the wolf shifter btw)

                                  Feather and Rinzler

                                  Feather awoke to darkness.

After a few minutes, her eyes adjusted to the dark to see Rinzler beside her, his lights glowing dimly. He sat up, and they flared a little brighter. Kent and Hesh were lying in the other corner, just waking up.

                                  “Where are we?” Rinzler asked.

“Don’t know.” Feather replied. “Some kind of dungeon?” She stood up, pulling a small flashlight from her belt. It didn’t illuminate much, but at least it showed her there weren’t any bones on the floor. “I wonder why what’s going on. Who drugged us and why? Why us?”

“We’re the only ones here.” Rinzler pointed out. “At least the only ones who were obviously wandering around. We don’t look like servants, that’s for sure.”

“Still weird.” Feather finally found a door. “It’s locked.” she said, pulling the handle.

“I can get it.” Rinzler began fiddling with the lock. Feather returned to their companions. “We’ve found a door.” she explained. “Rinzler’s trying to open it now. Hopefully we’ll soon find out who brought us here and why.”
