        Hesh

The relief of breathing fresh air once again came like a breath of fresh air. They must have had taken a wrong turn though, because instead of entering the guardhouse, they came out of the passage in a small courtyard overgrown with rose vines. He gazed up at the sky. A few distant clouds skittered across the sky like a distant herd of sheep. This was a beautiful world.

Feather glanced at him and the cat. “You two are from different worlds than Rinzler and I are. What are your homeworlds, anyway? Where do you come from?”

Hesh inhaled the courtyard’s sweet scent. “My world is called Erterragi, but I am more specifically from the Ambron Archipelago. I was raised by an elite group of thieves that went on to become leaders of the Consortium. I left to make my own way, but I became a thief.” He fixed his eyes on the sheep-clouds and smiled bitterly. “It was all I was good at. Eventually I realized that I might be able to use my… talent for something other than personal gain. That was when I began investigating.” Hesh lowered his gaze to Feather and Rinzler. “There you have it. My life’s story. Do you trust me yet, Rinzler?” Rinzler did not answer and Hesh sighed. “I guess not. Well, what is your world like? And what are starships?”

We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good on, eh?

          Feather and Rinzler

“Well, we technically come from two different worlds in the same universe, separated by vast stretches of space.” Feather explained. “That’s where the starships come in. They’re a little like water ships, but they have different shapes and engines on the back. They fly instead of traveling in the sea.” She nodded to Rinzler. “Rinzler was raised in an extremely advanced world. His backstory’s a little like yours, come to think of it—his dad disappeared when he was two and his mom when he was eight. When he found out they were still alive, he went looking for them.” She sighed. “I never had real parents. My sisters and I were created by scientists to be an elite squad of soldiers. Our trainer, Watcher….he was the closest thing to a father I ever had.”

Hesh looked thoughtful. Feather hoped he and Rinzler would get along once they realized how similar they were. She decided to continue telling her own story, explaining her sisters’ attributes.

“My sister Liberty, she’s sort of our leader. Then there’s Rivet, who loves everything to do with machines. Bullet’s the strongest and biggest. And Star…..I’m not quite sure what category she fits into, to tell you the truth.”

(E M Trepke, yes Kent is a leopard)

Kent stared with wide eyes at the ape creatures. The one who had introduced itself as Hesh was talking “And with me are Feather and Rinzler. How did you get here?”

“Not totally sure. I was walking along a path heading back to the village, when I came upon a cave which I thought would make a perfect secret meeting place for the band, not musical or anything just a group of the village kids. You see, gang sounds kinda violent, so we decided that we would go by band and- what was I talking about?” Kent rubbed is throat “Oh, yes, well, I found this cave and started to explore. I wouldn’t have gone poking around if I’d know ya’ll lived in it, sorry. When I decided that I had had enough with looking around I headed back to the entrance, but apparently I lost my way. Maybe, I turned done a adjoining tunnel or something, I don’t know. Ya’ll have quiet the maze in here. Finally, I found that door, opened it, and went through. Then I tripped on something and sorta ran face first into a wall and knocked myself out. When I came back to, everything was all black. It was horrible, but that’s all over now that ya’ll have come. Thank you, and sorry again for messing around your cave.” Kent got to his feet and followed the group back up the tunnel

“Cat, what do you call yourself?”

            “Kent’s my name. Kent Briggs.”

You will love what you spend time with.

              Feather and Rinzler

The cat introduced himself as Kent Briggs. “Like I asked him,” said Feather, nodding at Hesh, “what’s your world like? What is it called? You remind me of one of the creatures from legends I’ve read, as I might have explained before.”

Rinzler looked around at the bright sky above him. “You think there are any native inhabitants of this universe? I haven’t seen so much as a bird here!”

                Kent

The one called feather, oddly enough she had no feathers, turned to Kent as the made their way done the tunnel. “Are you an Ailurid? There are legends in my world of creatures who look like you. Only they’re a little more humanoid.”

Kent froze for a moment then quickly kept walking. In my world? Who and what were these creatures. There weren’t others world. . . were there? “Um, I’m not totally sure what a Elu-rib or Hewmainoid is, but I’m a leopard.” He shot a look out of the corner of his eye at Rinzler. Kent would really like to keep all of these creature in front of him if possible.

                  Hesh

Hesh pondered what Feather had told him. “So starships are like airships that can fly between worlds? And scientists experiment on people? Your world is many worlds?” All these new ideas were making his head spin. He promised to himself to never let any of this past his mouth once he got back home— if he got back home. Home. What an interesting thought. He hadn’t thought of anything as home in a long time.

He listened as Feather recounted her story, watching Kent’s reactions. If Kent thought the castle was a cave… then who could know how he would react to star-travel?

As Hesh listened to Feather, the smell of the roses grew sweeter, thicker, heavier. Too thick. He felt his mind grow fuzzy and thick and slow. Too slow. His vision blurred. “Hold your breath!” he shouted. He thought he shouted. He hoped he shouted. His blood hammered in his head as he tried to hold his breath. Too late. He crumpled to the cobbles, unconscious.

Feather sniffed at the air. “Do you smell something?”

Kent, the leopard creature, sniffed it too.

Hesh had been asking questions, but he suddenly stopped and shouted, “Hold your breath!” He collapsed, and Rinzler gave him a confused look before he, too, fell to the ground.

Feather’s vision was getting blurry. She thought she heard Kent growl at something or someone in front of them, but he then thudded to the floor beside her. Chemical weapon tactic? she thought. But by who?

                    Then everything went dark.

                      Kent

As the group exited the tune Kent eased, then suddenly he realized something. This isn’t the mountain! He was in a castle! “Okay, were am I!” Kent dived away from the group, landing, and going into a defensive stance. “This isn’t Chert! Someone, please explain or I’m about to lose it. Is this a joke? What other world?

                      “Do you smell something?”

                          Oh! I’ll try to oblige.

Alyona is about eleven, but nearly twelve. However, because of the same reasons that Viktor believes he’s thirteen, they think she’s twelve already.

She has strait-ish dark brown hair that almost falls to her knees when loosed but it’s usually in a braid(yes, it’s uncut). Olive complexion like her brother’s, only she is a little paler. (By the way, she looks a bit like the older girl in the grayscale collage I put on the thread you started for that stuff. Although, she looks younger at this point in the books.)Her eyes are a dark hazel-brown.

Like most girls in Yartass, she usually has a light shawl over head; this keeps her hair clean of the dust from the farm, protects her face and head from the sun, and keeps her hair together. She also wears a grey dress that falls to about lower mid-calf, under a ruddy brown Saxon/Baltic tunica, with a belt that doubles as a place to shove things. Her feet are either bare, or wrapped in soft leather shoes. I think she’s wearing her shoes right now, though. Her clothing is mildly trimmed, but her shawl has embroidery.

And that was probably much too in-depth. XD I think about my character’s clothes a bit much. Lol.

You have listened to fears, child. Come, let me breathe on you... Are you brave again? -Aslan

                              Alyona

The group seemed to relax a bit, their surprise turning to… Many different reactions ranging from delight to something like anger. Maybe concern? She couldn’t tell.

BubblyNoiseGirl was on the delighted side. “Well! Hello there!” She grinned at Alyona with an unfazed open friendliness. “Thanks for sharing a meal! We could definitely use one! Specially those two!” She nodded at the boy and her pet, which was eyeing Alyona like she was the intruder. However, she must have proved uninteresting, because it happily sidled up to BubblyNoise for a bite of bread.

The rest of the group seemed at a loss on how to handle the situation. The lady with the weopons remained on the threshold, while the two Voyagers regarded Alyona gravely.

She clasped her hands, and tried to look like the typical kitchen maid. Whatever that was.

Then the soft spoken girl stepped forward, real kindness illuminating her face.

”Hello, it’s very nice to meet you. My name is Arabella. These are my friends, November, Jocelyn and Nyx. And this,” she pointed to the Voyagers, “Is Zlatan and Vulkasin.”

Then she turned to the woman in the doorway. “That’s Sofia. We thank you for your generosity.” Arabella smiled warmly, and Alyona felt the girl’s gentleness soothe her taught nerves. She smiled back.

Then noticed that the poor boy hadn’t continued eating. His wide eyes watched her steaming pot of barley stew as if it were calling his name.

It was polite of him to wait, but he shouldn’t be made to. Alyona nodded to him.

                              ”You may have some,”

He stood still a moment, as if unable to comprehend the glorious benediction bestowed on him, before suddenly coming alive and grabbing one of the bowls she had set out not a minute before, and digging in.

Arabella laughed, and Alyona began to gather more bowls.

“And what’s your name?” Jocelyn tipped her head in Alyson’s direction.

“My name?” Alyona shuffled the stack of pottery together and set it on the table. She could tell them her name, right? It wasn’t like it meant anything to anybody. She looked up and met the girl’s gaze. “I’m Alyona Mynclais.”(Note: I’m tampering with their surname. This may be it in Ayshlagair. 😉 )

Not that she had to tell them her full name. She bit her lip and bent her head in pretence of look for her ladle.

“That’s a nice name.” Jocelyn’s feet thumped to the floor. Alyona turned to find the two girls laying out the bowls. “Oh! Thank you.”

What if they knew her surname. It didn’t mean anything except maybe establish her family’s profession as Yartassite farmers.

Alyona filled a bowl as if for herself. When the others weren’t looking, she’d hide it away for her brother. She’d be fine with bread.

The Gang (this is how I refer to my many charries when idk what pov I wanna use XD. Or when I will switch between them)

Most of the group had gotten their food and was eating. Zlatan was the last to fill his bowl, choosing to make sure everyone else was satisfied before filling his stomach. There was still enough stew left for him, which Ara was thankful for, and he scooped it out and placed it in his bowl.

Ara stared at the stew and baked dough before her. Without realizing, her lips began to move in a soft prayer of thanks.

                                Dresser of the sparrows,

                                Father of the lilies,

                                Thank you, Lord Provider,

                                For this meal o’ plenty,

And keep us in this day,

                                Oh Holy, Lord Provider.

Ara took a sip of her stew with a fork, terribly aware that everyone was staring at her.

Lyn grinned. “That was my reaction too when I first heard them say it!”

”I…ah…forgot.” November blushed, his bread already gone. Ara smiled.

”That’s alright. He knows your heart.” Still, November looked ashamed. Ara wished he didn’t beat himself up so.

Nyx had his snout in Lyn’s bowl, eating the rest of her stew. She obviously wasn’t all that hungry, because she slid her chair back and proceeded to look around the room.

Nyx sat up, having finished off the stew, and licked the excess from his lips. He glanced at Alyona. “Anyone gonna mention the elephant in the room?”

                                ”Nyx…” Ara sighed.

He rolled his furry shoulders in a shrug. “She said she works here right? Probably for that….Ocran guy.” Nyx’s face distorted as he spoke. His hackles stood on edge. “Anyone gonna ask her about it?”

The fox looked around. No one volunteered. He rolled his eyes. “Come on…Ask one of those…guys with the accents to do it.”

Ara sighed and November swallowed hard. Lyn shook her head but was smiling at her companion. She bounded over to Zlatan and Vulkasin and whispered her fox’s request in their ear.

”SO! Who wants to ask her about!” She said, wrapping jumping and wrapping her arms around Vulkasin’s neck while he was trying to eat, making him nearly choke. (She took this chance to do so, since it would be nearly impossible to hop on him while he stood.)

Zlatan seemed to grin but…it was very hard to tell with the rather stoic brother.

                                  Zlatan and Vulkasin

Alyona Mynclais. The first sounded like a name one of his cousins would bare, but Mynclais was certainly Southkingdomish.

He stood against the wall, waiting to be sure his troop had enough. Vulkasin was sitting on a crate but he still looked cramped at the table. Lyn and November were enjoying their own bowls.

Zlatan glanced in the pot. A little more than one serving left. He looked to the fire.

There Alyona, the servant girl, had settled.

She wasn’t eating her stew. Oh, she picked at it, but the only thing that made it to her mouth was bread.

Either something was ‘wrong’ with it, or…

Two bowls had been laid out on the table, and there was far too much for one person’s meal. Why had she even made a meal at this time of night? He took half of what was left and stepped back to the wall to watch her.

Ara’s voice was soft but clear.

                                  Dresser of the sparrows,

                                  Father of the lilies,

                                  Thank you, Lord Provider,

                                  For this meal o’ plenty,

And keep us in this day,

                                  Oh Holy, Lord Provider.

Zlatan stared at her, keenly aware of his own forgotten prayers.

Lyn grinned. “That was my reaction too when I first heard them say it!”

“I…ah…forgot.” November had his head ducked, his face flaming.

“That’s alright.” Ara smiled “He knows your heart.”

Zlatan wanted to turn to the window and sing the evening blessing. He sighed and instead finished his portion.

The fox finished off Lyn’s stew, licking his whiskers clean. He apparently said something as Ara exclaimed, staring at him.

Lyn bounded up grinning and bounced off of his brother, wrapping her arms around his neck in a chokehold. “SO! Who wants to ask her about!” her whisper was barely audible, a surprise in itself.

Zlatan found he liked Lyn better then he had ever thought. The shock stamped across his brother was perfect. Laughter bubbled inside, softening his own face.

Vat vas-?!?” Vulkasin sputtered, then shook his head and grinned.

Zlatan placed his empty bowl back on the table and turned to Alyona. “You remind me of the folk in the kingdom south of my home. If you don’t mind, where do you come from?”
