@jess at the moment I am making a very un-elven expression of extreme envy. Do you write fantasy? Because if so, I bet that really helps!
@winter-rose Oh, I’m sure my parents wouldn’t be scared at ALL about a sword in my hands…*evil laugh*

November 10, 2016 at 5:13 pm #20881@Daeus, Fencing is cool. 🙂 I believe we use something like a rapier. (We just use practice ones 🙂 ) I have not tried any “add ons” but want to eventually. I haven’t done the class for very long, but really want to continue. 😀 The teacher has his own studio, but he does group days for much cheaper. (So, I would have to spend the money myself for a more serious class.)
@Ethryndal, Yes I write fantasy. And sci-fi. And realistic fiction. And… You get the picture 😛 However, I mostly write fantasy. (Because of the elves, and dragons, and everything else) 🙂November 10, 2016 at 5:37 pm #20885@jess, Go elves and dragons! And swords! And shapeshifters!

November 11, 2016 at 7:57 am #20925Hail and well met, Ethryndal! Welcome to the Forum community. I wish you all the best in your quest for a non-cardboard sword. Might I suggest suggesting the plastic-but-nearly-unbreakable Cold Steel swords on Amazon to your mom? Slightly less likely to inflict mortal injury than their metal counterparts (though I did make a boy’s lip bleed. Once), but just as fun for sparring with and serving as a decoration piece in your bedroom.
November 11, 2016 at 12:51 pm #20941@sierra-r The boy probably deserved it. 🙂
And I looked up the Cold Steel swords. They are not $300, so I’m actually feeling a slight shred of hope!

Hello there @ethryndal! Welcome to the Kingdom 😉
I am the resident pirate… and I do have a sword… or two.
Not to brag or anything *smirks*
Anyway, I’m also a Tolkien, Narnia, and general all around Fantasy fan. 😛
See you around!
*Tips feathered hat and trips over swords as I walk out the door*November 13, 2016 at 8:57 am #21066@ethryndal Actually he didn’t. At least not right then 😀 Furthermore, he’s my best boy friend (emphasis on the space between the words). Once I need a blood sample for science, and he said “Hey, I bet I can make my nose bleed!”. So he smacked himself in the face and sure enough his nose began to drip. And me, being the cold hearted scientist that I am, shoved the glass slide under his nose and got myself a sample.
November 13, 2016 at 1:11 pm #21068@sierra-r That is hilarious! In a really strange sort of way… Ah, true friends. The things they will do for each other. 🙂
@anne-swiftblade Ok, one sword is bad enough, but TWO? This world is so unfair… 🙂INTJ ➸Your friendly neighborhood mastermind. ➸https://thesarcasticelf.wordpress.com/
November 13, 2016 at 5:43 pm #21071Heya, @Ethryndal! (man, congrats on a hard-to-spell name. *gives you a trophy*)
I’m Rosey or writefury or ‘hey you’. Whatever you want to call me. The resident ghost ship.
A little insane, huh?
You’ll fit right in, girl.
Welcome to Kingdom Pen. *salutes*
November 14, 2016 at 11:15 am #21083@Ethryndal (I had no trouble spelling it @writefury. Nyah.) I’m late so I’m going to squint and pretend no one else is here
Welcome to the bestiestiestest place on earth! We’re all mad here. *cat grin* BTW that quote has been used so much on here. I wonder if someone could count them all.
I. Want. To. Be. An. Elf. I. Love. The. Lord. Of. The. Rings. But. The. Only. Word. I. Know. In. Elvish. Is. Maelon. And I don’t even know if I spell it right.
So, I have to be content with living in Lothlorien. Legolas is my adopted big brother. I’m a dunce at learning Elvish, but he has taught me to be a mean archer. Archeress. Whatever. I live with Legolas, but I often travel to England. I am in the employment of The Scarlet Pimpernel (read it. Now.) Jason Whittacker, Robin Hood, and Sherlock Holmes to name a few. It’s exciting to say the least. My name is the Secret Lady of London. I generally am seen in black pants and jerkin, dark red boots and cape, and a fancy black Three-Musketeers kind of hat with a red feather. And I don’t trip on my sword. Unlike some I could mention and will @anne-swiftblade because I am sometimes not that polite.
I want a sword too. My grandpa has two really cool ones that I love getting down when I go to his house. My mom wouldn’t even let me get a dragon blade that fits over my finger. It was at a flea market, but she said no, so I had to settle for a pocket knife instead. *fingers crossed* I’m still hoping though. Talk to @hope. She has all the weapons. Even a sword.

November 14, 2016 at 11:49 am #21092@writefury Thanks! And yeah, the names a bit hard to swallow. I was going to name one of my characters it, but for some reason I kept mentally referring to myself as it, so it’s somehow become my unofficial name for everything.
@anne-of-lothlorien Wow, what’s it like being an adopted Elf? I’m only an intern… But I do know a bit of Elvish, so I guess it pays off… not to rub things in or anything… 🙂I. Love. The. Scarlet. Pimpernel. May I say that you have very good taste?

November 14, 2016 at 12:19 pm #21100@ethryndal Yah, Legolas found me in wandering in the woods after I discovered the way to reach Middle Earth. I was babbling about how awesome he is, and how awesome Elves were, and how awesome Lothlorien is, and stuff like that so he offered to take me in and teach me how to live like an elf. He’s even going to show me how to defy gravity by running up falling bricks. It’s really awesome (I use that word a lot if you haven’t notice). I get to eat Elvish food, which tastes like the best thing ever, sweet and warm and hot and delicious all at once, wear Elvish clothes, which feel like starlight, and learn to dance the Elvish dances, which are basically magical experiences I could never describe. I have a necklace that Legolas says was made with part of one of the first stars to ever shine on Middle Earth. Aeminar is it’s name. (Pronounced Ayminar. Like Eowyn but with a minar instead of wyn.) Basically, it’s the best life I could ever have, and I’m extremely athletic and strong too. (Something I’m not in real life) So where do you do your intern studies? Rivendel? Oh and don’t tell anyone, but Legolas agrees with me that his dad’s a jerk. I don’t even bother remembering his name, i have that low of an opinion of him. That’s why we moved to Lothlorien, if you were wondering because I know you might know Legolas’s real home is in Murkwood. After Sam and Frodo saved Middle EArth and Gimli died after his adventures with Legolas, is when he found me and took me in, and we moved to Lothlorien to escape his dad and oppressive restrictions. Sue us if you want. But Lothlorien is the most beautiful woods ever. I mean, EVER!
(Don’t mention this isn’t real too often, or I’ll end up believing it, but I spend hours imagining about living with the Elves. I imagine in the early morning and dusk mostly. I’ve even gone outside and tried to actually dance like an Elf.)

November 14, 2016 at 12:25 pm #21105@anne-of-lothlorien His name is Thranduil, but I probably just made you faint at the sound of Legolas’s dad. Unfortunately, I don’t know elvish, though I have taught myself ancient dwarvish. It’s quite nice to write notes to myself when I don’t want anyone else to read it. 😛

November 14, 2016 at 12:28 pm #21107@Anne-of-Lothlorien @Ethryndal The Scarlet Pimpernel!! You both officially have incredible taste for that. How many of the books have you read? I haven’t read all of them, but I seriously want to and I loved most of those I have read. Have you at least read the original Scarlet Pimpernel, The Elusive Pimpernel, and Eldorado? Which is your favorite?
November 14, 2016 at 12:36 pm #21113Oh wow @Dragon-Snapper you’ve actually taught yourself Dwarvish! Did you teach yourself from the resources in the back of The Return of the King?
@Anne-of-Lothlorien I really don’t want to be raining on any parades, but if you liked Gimli at all my conscience feels bound to tell you he didn’t die. It is said that he sailed with Legolas across the sea, and because of his esteem for Galadriel the ‘authorities’ may have allowed him that special privilege. *solemn nod* (No, I didn’t make that up—it says something to that effect in appendices in the back of The Return of the King. 😀 There is so much great stuff in those appendices.)
And I totally feel you on the jerkiness of Legolas’ dad. Yigg. -
