Hi digital-art peoples, could you tell me what some of the best softwares are for digital art? And also animation, if you dabble in that as well? Like I’ve mentioned before, I’m getting an art tablet this summer. I don’t want to use scrappy software, ya know?

#ProtectSeb@whalekeeper not sure I can help ya…I only use Procreate but I’ve heard it’s not the best for Animation, but since I’m a beginner artist it’s all I’ve got rn. I really really want to get to the point of animation, but I am not there yet, and haven’t been doing any art in a hot minute XD.

I use krita for digital art, it’s free pretty easy and I love it!
However I can’t export my animations without downloading and doing some complicated stuff. I have a walk cycle I made awhile ago and I can’t do anything with it (Not that it’s really any good lol)
I know my sister has made animatics in Photoshop so I’d assume it’s easier to export. (I don’t think she’s the type to download a bunch of stuff for a animatic, but I could be mistaken)That costs money though, so I don’t use it anymore. (My membership just expired XD)
I’m going to start using clip studio paint soon, my tablet came with a free trial. I know it’s kinda a go-to for animation, webtoons, and digital art, however they have the normal version and the studio version. I don’t know if the cheaper version has the same capabilities for animation, but it is a reasonable price. Also, it sells at fixed prices or monthly, whichever suits you best.
Besides Krita animation being hard to export, it have onion skins and everything. The animation interface is crowded and frustrating, but for a digital artist moving to animation I expected it to be frustrating.

(Part of) Isaiah 45:19Thank you!! XD I’m working on expressions, I think the pinnacle of expression skills is to be able to draw your characters ugly crying in such a way the art doesn’t look ugly.
Lol well if it helps, Tauren is a couple inches taller, and sometimes I draw him with glasses. Layson has wavy/straight blond hair, whereas Tauren has curly brown hair with long bangs over one eye. If wearing a backpack, it’s most likely Layson.

This dragon is something of a minor character, but he’s one of the few I haven’t already posted on this group, so….
I like his character design, however. He’s a hybrid of two different kinds, and it shows up quite prominently several places on him! His tail, with the six spikes and a venom barb, is really cool-looking, and he can breathe a cold blue flame his father’s speceis(the one he lives with) nicknamed “frostfire.”
