I love your comic! The art and panel layout are really good! I also love the part about his backpack ? I one time had a teacher who would pull out really weird things like entire tea sets out of his pockets.

Yeah, and sometimes comics from canvas get upgraded to originals where I think the author works more with Webtoon and they get paid.

I’m glad it adds to Layson’s character, I didn’t want it to seem like I didn’t understand how much you have to bring backpacking, I do, I just refuse to draw a clunky backpack ? It needs to be aesthetic.

Well because that’s a fairly vague question, I guess I have liberty to rant an entire paragraph!

I have a written version just like a novel, with descriptions and dialogue, and so I use that as a reference. I’ve read a few graphic novels in the past, so that’s definitely where the paneling style comes from. Using footsteps to show time passing is something I got from another author, similar to how he uses a panel with spring flowers, then fall leaves to show a seasoned went by without saying it. I used a ruler for the panel edges, and colored with alcohol markers. I used a reference for the first panel, I wasn’t sure how to draw the pose. I also had a sketch page to test ideas on, and I sketched everything with a pencil before doing pen. Also that character is my easiest to draw, and I’ve drawn him a lot. If I tried to make a random comic with a character I hadn’t drawn a lot, it wouldn’t turn out well. So Yeah! That’s my best answer ?
