      Yay I got glaze working and it didn’t effect the output too much. It did take over two hours to process though lol

        Yay! And the art turned out so well! Realistic and yet whimsical in a serious sort of way. Is it watercolor and ink?

            Thank you! ?

            It’s a paper sketch with pencil, which I scanned into Ibis paint (my new fav!) isolated the pencil lines and darkened them (It even has a tool for this it’s the best) and then used digital brushes for the rest. The watercolor bleed brush is amazing it almost looks real!

              This year marks the 75th anniversary of Narnia. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was published back in 1950. It also happens to be 20 years since the Disney film was released. I promised my sister a Narnia illustration to celebrate it a while ago, and finally got around to finishing it!

                  I need criticism on this sketch. Especially the hair

                    @rae

                    thank you!

                    About your sketch heres some thing you could try to change:

                    The first thing I noticed is the ear and it’s connection to the jaw. The anatomy of the ear doesn’t look right and it’s a bit small. The line that goes through the center of the eyes should reach back to the top of the ear. If you look up a side profile reference you’ll see what I mean.

                    Btw the angle the head is connecting to the neck looks perfect : )

                    About the hair, it’s going up to the right, which means the wind is coming from the bottom left. The only way I could imagine getting this kind of wind is if you were standing on the edge of a cliff or had a fan below you. Or maybe in a crazy windstorm. You could also get something like this if you were falling, but it would be much more extreme. I would make the hair more relaxed if I were you, and make it split a little so we can see his eyebrow, it helps with facial expressions. Also personally I would add more places where the hair strands end throughout the empty space of the hair. If you follow the hair strands from the back of his head, some of it seems to be continuous to the front of his head, which would be really long!

                    Also the nostril should be parallel to the eyeline instead of pointed up.

                    "Past or future... let them be."

                      AH! Don’t touch it! Okay….. maybe a little, but leave the eyes and expression and hair. It’s perfect!!!

                      WOW!!! Love that! The shadowing was really well done.

                      He’s a wind element (Unless I’m totally mixing it up) so he creates his own wind. Right Rae?

                            @ellette-giselle

                            Sadly I did not do my pfp lol, I think it’s official art from Link Click, it’s a Chinese donghua I really like. Idk If I’d recommend it here it’s pretty tragic. The art is great though!

                            Lol thanks, it’s a fandom reference to a kpop group I listen to. One of the members is called Lee Know and there’s some clip of him saying that quote and it become a thing.

                              @mineralizedwritings @ellette-giselle

                              So, first, Min, thank you so much for the advice! It was genuinely the most helpful advice I got (I posted on reddit and Unvale and I didn’t get anything).

                              Second,

                              AH! Don’t touch it! Okay….. maybe a little, but leave the eyes and expression and hair. It’s perfect!!!

                              The expression is still there, but it has changed.

                              I still have the ability to go back to the original sketch or recolor this one, if I so choose. I might end up recoloring this one to give it that night lighting, but not today. Right now I am done with stressful coloring. The hair! I still am not happy with how it looks, but it definitely looks wind blown.

                              Third,

                              He’s a wind element (Unless I’m totally mixing it up) so he creates his own wind. Right Rae?

                              Yes, he is what is called a Wind Charmer. But Min had a good point, while Baron can manipulate the wind in whatever direction he wishes, anyone who doesn’t know him wouldn’t know that. It also doesn’t make much sense for him to want it blowing that specific direction.

                              Anyways, I have my thoughts on this outcome, but since my tutor recently told me to stop selling myself short, I will let you formulate your own opinions

                                @rae

                                Wow. That is the best drawing I think I’ve ever seen you do. The coloring is perfect! The shading… the tones… it really looks 3D!! Wow! Great job! (Personally, I like the hair direction and expression of the sketched Baron better. Who cares if people who don’t know him wouldn’t get the wind direction thing. It’s more uniquely him.) But I like this a lot as well! Like I said, best completed piece I’ve seen to date,

                                  That looks really good I love it! I kinda like the wind direction in the other picture better, but this still looks cool. I love the way you drew the hair and colors.

                                  Your tutor is right. Probably 90% of an artist’s struggle is learning to say “good enough.”
