Yes, exactly! I think her mother works as a gardener for his family, and they’ve technically been raised knowing each other their whole lives. I like imagining the story as I draw.
Also, Since I’m in the middle of another historical apparel project, they strike a special cord, lol. Regency stays are a pain to draft, forget “simplicity.” Anyway, so cute. Love them.

Aw. I like that backstory. Ideas that come from drawing are some of the best.
It’s… Fun. Clothing research is at least a very personalizable form of experimental archeology, even if it’s frustrating to make a piece three times only to make it too long again. ?
But definitely superfluous for your drawing. They’re cute as they are. (Although, depending on the time, it’s a great way to show class rank… For instance, if they’re roughly 1790-1820, then the outfits you picked show her as distinctly lower/working class, while he looks the part of a gentleman of estate.)
