So, I drew Dante in a cartoon style because I was bored, and we had some issues so to make up for how bad that one came out, I tried to draw him in realistic…
This one was a huge challenge because I’ve never drawn a realistic cyclops.
How did I do?

Both of “Barons’s” works are exquisite. I really like the cat eye. Both have have so much character in them. (makes mental note to explore that thread you have so I can find out more about this Baron person. Making drawings for your characters to do is a brilliant idea.)
The kiddo is adorable! His little hands… just so precious.
Dante is incredible. I have only once done a cyclops-like thing, and it was in a “Pembric’s Creaturepedia” style so I could ignore most of the details. You pulled him off perfectly.
Anyway, thank you so much for sharing. I shall now go back to Ooh and Ahh over them further.

@rae *tries not to squeal while looking at my phone in public* I love him! That shading is amazing! I’ve never tried drawing a realistic cyclops either because it seems really hard. (I’ve also avoided side profiles like the plague.) You did a really impressive job.

How do you even do that!? I’ve never heard of that style!!!
I first heard about it from a How to draw book who used the technique combined with others to create textures in a drawing. Then another How to Draw book used something similar to create a cat head with pen. For whatever reason, I could see Baron using the drawing style so I searched “cross-hatch rose” and got this:
From that I made my drawing.

*runs through the many many times I’ve said I would draw something for someone and ended up giving up and putting it on a back shelf for a while because it wasn’t working out for some reason.* *runs through the times it worked out (which are much fewer)* *notices the pretty please* *runs through scenario of if I accept or if I deny* *eventually reaches decision.*

It’s straight lines that often cross each other at different angles. The more lines, the darker the shadow.
Here’s a picture of some balls drawn in a couple cross-hatch styles compared to other drawing techniques (I didn’t draw this)

Depends on the style I’m drawing in. If it’s the anime style I most commonly draw in or realistic, I prefer adults. If it’s chibi, I can do either or, but I think children look better in that style. I’m also better at guys generally (except with chibi, usually girls are easier with that) because once upon a time I could barely draw guys so I ended up practising them so much that now woman are hard to do XD.

Okay, well, I love your realistic type style, if you’re willing to do that. Would you be willing to draw Werner? He’s a young German doctor, dark hair, dark eyes, tall and slender. Here, I have a face claim for him if you want. Thank you so much!!!!

Cross hatching and stippling look good, but they take sooo long… And if you get impatient, it looks messy.
