@rae Ok!!
Alright, I’m gonna ask if u could draw ma boi Leo.
He’s about 28 years old, muscular build but short (only 5’6″…shorter than almost all the other men he knows, poor boi XD), tan skin, dark brown eyes and dark brown wavy hair in a WW2 waved quiff hairstyle (i can post references if you want)
wears a white button-up shirt, dark brown pants, brown dress shoes, and a brown unbuttoned, open coat with a yellow Star of David stitched onto the left breast of the coat (the stars inscribed with the german word for Jew, “Jude”, from the ww2 era; again, can post a reference if you need it)
and here’s his reference pic!

Yes, it would help to have the reference pics… I’ve never actually drawn this type of person before. Thanks!
Oh and it could be a week before I have the drawing cuz I’m not the type to sit down and start and finish a drawing all in one day, I take my time and frequently like to return with new eyes to look at it.

October 18, 2023 at 10:16 am #159366I think the main thing is just noticing where the light hits. Itβs kinda leathery, so the tiny folds that collect near the edging of each piece have these kind of triangle highlights. Also, the folds move in a diagonal direction. I actually found a really good video on clothing folds awhile ago, and one of the examples was diagonal folds. There is usually two or three stress points (Generally one of them is a seam) that the clothing stretches between (I think it was going from shoulder to waist here.) anyways I was just looking at the reference at the time but noticed it did align with that too.
Oh! That’s very helpful actually… I struggle with clothing so I tend to just stick with the face. π
here it is if you were interested:
Thank you!!!
XD Iβm sorry I spent a lot longer on this one than the Steve one! I think my level of attachment is based on how long something tookβ¦ also this might be my new best realism drawing Iβve ever done π. Lol, I might even use this one as my pfp when I get it properly scanned π€£
HAHA, totally understandable. For some reason, I get attached to the art pieces that I’m making for someone. It’s very annoying. Oh, you made me think of a random question… what do you use to scan your artwork?

Okay, so here’s a reference for the hairstyle:

October 18, 2023 at 12:08 pm #159376I’m glad to be of help!
Yeah, I understand that.
I sometimes use our home printer if it’s black and white, but I like using the printer scanner at the community college I take classes at better for color.

October 19, 2023 at 2:37 pm #159475Oh okay! Cool! I’ve been wanting to scan my artwork but didn’t know if I could do it with my printer or if I’d have to go somewhere…

October 19, 2023 at 2:45 pm #159477What does one do when they don’t have school?
Redesign their corkboard of course. π
Thought y’all would appreciate it.

October 19, 2023 at 3:16 pm #159481Almost every printer has a scanner, but most aren’t very good with scanning color. Make sure you set the resolution to at least 300 dpi to get decent results!
