I haven’t really gotten to talk about Yosef, so be prepared for something that might be long. XD
ALRIGHT! YOSEF TIME!
Alright, Yosef is the middle child of Isaiah Abler, a man Leon meets and befriends (and who serves as a sort of mentor to Leon) in the Concentration Camp. Yosef is either 16 or 17 years old, not quite sure exactly, and has a younger sister, Abigail, and had an older brother, Judah. He and his father and mother and sister have been in the camp for about a year by the time Leon gets there. (April 1944)
Anywho! So…they were sent to the Camp and Yosef, Judah, and Isaiah were separated from Mary (Yosef’s mother) and Abigail. As time went on, Judah became good friends with many of the men in the camp and was an encouragement to many and kept men optimistic. Isaiah has a strong faith, and Judah had a faith just as strong as his father’s. Well…after probably about 6-7 months, one of the men Judah was closest to, a Polish Jew, escaped the camp. Judah was accused of being a part of the man’s plan and taken by the SS to be interrogated and held in “prison”. (it’s already a prison. Worse, actually. Y’all know History.) Anyways, they kept the story and decided Judah would be killed for his “crimes” when it was really just to serve as an Example. Within a day, Yosef learned that his brother was going to be killed. He got to see Judah and Judah encouraged him to stay strong in his faith, to stay strong for their father, and to forgive and love the Nazi’s, the SS, their enemies like Jesus commanded. Yosef took his brother’s words to heart and holds onto them even now.
In a few days…Judah was killed. (Either shot or hung. They were cruel. I’m just not sure which one yet. DX)
Now, in the present day, Yosef misses his brother, but keeps his brother’s words to heart. He’s a young faithful man of God. (more faithful and trusting and hopeful than many of the men he knows) And he always prays for and tries to show love to their guards. He (along with Isaiah) encourages Leon to forgive.
I love him, I just don’t get to talk about him a lot. 😅😘

I wouldn’t be! My characters serve as an inspiration to me. And hopefully to others. 🥰
NOPE! (or, at least, that’s not a part of the plan as of this moment…three characters already die in the one book. 😅) My plan is that he actually becomes a Doctor later, as he moves to the US with his family, and devotes his life to helping others. 😍
