That was so horrid and so sweet. I feel sorry for all those characters. So many emotions….

BUT ISABEL IS ADORABLE AND HEART WRENCHING. War is never so dark as when its affect is seen in children. But it’s never so full of hope as when it’s seen through their eyes.

Also, the line where Leon wondered if she’d recognize him is perfect. It definitely serves a double purpose, highlighting both her youth and how much he’s changed. Cause he has. (If I’m honest, I probably wouldn’t recognize my own father straight off after something like that. Which is really dreadful to think about.)

I could really see that part with Isabel, though. Her doll, half forgotten, her hair a glowing golden mess, and her eyes so bewildered.

And then, is it? Really?
