What if silence had a voice?

Sarah Susanna Rhomberg

What if silence had a voice,

But was always told

It was not good enough

To speak?

What if silence had a voice,

But was told to linger in the shadows

And only come out when everyone else

Was silent?

What if silence wanted to say something,

But didn’t because it was always told

To remain

Silent?

What if we, too, have been told

That we are not good enough

To speak?

What if we too have been told

To hide in the

Shadows?

What if we, too, have been told

To remain

Silent?

What if silence had a voice

Like we have a voice?

What if silence

Decided not to believe

The lies?

That it is not good enough,

That it is not old enough,

That it is not strong enough.

What if silence

Stepped out of the

Shadows?

What if silence

Gained courage and

Started speaking?

What if we, too, decided

Not to believe

The lies?

What if we, too, decided

To step out of the

Shadows?

What if we, too, decided

To stand up and

Speak?

What would people say

If we’d speak up on what our

Hearts beat for?

When silence speaks

It is broken

They say.

What if we’d trust

God to use our

Brokenness?

What if we’d

Rise up and

Speak?
