@daniel-leinad-thompson-2-2
Loved the title game on the podcast. I’m gonna have to do that with my siblings sometime. 😛
For the mafia one… I was thinking “There’s blood in my milkshake” or something like that. Something to combine dark, gangsta things with ice cream. -

Great job, Sarah! It almost looks like it could be a song.
Don’t enter it in the lyrics contest, though. That would be…. very strange. -

“When raindrops tumble off the eaves”
Dang, only one line at a time?

Good stuff, @kate-flournoy! 1 especially. That’s the thing that in my mind that tip the villain scales to frightening.
The quote was from Josephine Tey’s book, “The Singing Sands”. The speaker is Inspector Alan Grant, one of the most awesome MCs of all time. There are actually a few other observations on villainy and such in The Daughter of Time,…[Read more] -

I’m going to share a quote from a book that really helped me with my villain.
“I find vanity repellent. As a person I loathe it, and as a policeman I distrust it.”
“It’s a harmless sort of weakness,” Tad said, with a tolerant lift of a shoulder.
“That is just where you are wrong. It is the utterly destructive quality. When you say van…

I only include things I can explain, or are somewhat based on present technology. Actually, a couple of my things I’ve actually seen as “Possible future inventions” in popular mechanics. AFTER I WROTE THEM. I was freaking out.
My big technology leap was robotic suits with gadgets outfitted for the military. It’s still a prototype, so there are a…[Read more] -

YES. Totally! It’s like your own personal fanbase. 😉 My 10 year old brother seems to be my agent. He’s constantly saying I should get my books into Costco and all the libraries. To quote him: “Why go through all the little stores first? More people go to Costco!”You know you’re a writer when all your little brothers come to your for help…[Read more]

What I was planning on using the dragon for was just what it was in its time: a predator.
No magic, no talking.
Just an untrustworthy carnivore that breathes fire. -

And, my other one from this week:
There was a thud on the grass as a shadow jumped off the brick wall surrounding Smidgen’s Nob.
The shadow looked both ways down the street and pulled open his jacket, patting around on the pockets. The file was still there.
An incredulous grin spread across his face and a muffled laugh disturbed the quiet n…[Read more]

I do dragons, but not like the talking ones. Just the giant lizard animal ones. It’s fun playing with writing the animals that used to be.
Anyone ever read the book “After the Flood”? The dragon stories in there are mind blowing. Like a newspaper interviewing these Welsh farmers about dragons in the area and the farmers saying that they were worse…[Read more] -

Ah. I didn’t mean canadians. I meant like from-outer-space sort of aliens.
Canadians are not strange. -

Nice one, Daeus! That nicely follows on making it look like it was taken for your story. 🙂

Thanks. 🙂 Yours is a nice take on it, too. The thing I was avoiding doing with that was making an evolution/creation argument. I thought everyone would jump on that.
Yeah, with that tip, it’s a lot in explaining the details. Find the question of the picture and give an answer. Like, my question with that one was “How do the lines go up that high?…[Read more] -

No, they’re horribly uncomfortable and crippling. But the only way to keep the energy inside alive is by wearing them constantly. XD

Cool! That’s a good one, Kate! 🙂 Agreed, that was a well deserved win by whoever-that-was. I had too many ideas for that one and wasn’t able to get past the obvious. I always try and get it to the point where it looks like the picture has been taken exclusively for my story, and I wasn’t getting it from that one. 😛
Did you enter any of the other ones? -

Ouch.
How ’bout the stilettos of doom? The power is all in the heels, so you have to be careful not to break them. 😛 -

THAT’S A FABULOUS TITLE. That really actually works well.
Or maybe “That’s not strawberry sauce”. 😛
