Welcome to the Realm of the KeePers of the Pen, @i-j-anderson! Ooooh, another writer/painter! What do you like to paint?

@Daeus just thought I’d let you know I won’t be write-a-thoning tomorrow— no success hunting today, so I’m going out again tomorrow. I did get lots of outlining done though. 😉

@Daeus hm, yeah. That’s a puzzler. I would probably not do that, for the sake of my conscience and because I wouldn’t want to get accustomed to having bad words on my lips, even if they aren’t mine.

@Daeus true. I guess I meant more that to acknowledge their existence by saying ‘he cursed’ is not the same as actually putting all the lurid details down on the page.

@Daeus that’s a good idea about the content advisory.
I don’t quite agree with comparing curse words to romance or violence or any other more ‘normal’ sin, as their crime is not their existence, but spelling out their filthiness on the page. With ‘romance’ and violence, you can put as many or few details in as you like. With a curse word, it’s…[Read more] -

*cough* Sorry sis. Didn’t stop to think about whether you wanted to answer that or not. 😛

@Leumeister that’s pretty cool… I haven’t done any animation though. Just artwork; digital painting. Also some book cover design. 😉 Comes in handy when one is a writer, don’t you think? 😀

@Dragon-Snapper good point, but may I point out that they’re not talking about swearing. They’re talking about similes. Likening something to heaven or to hell, not saying ‘by heaven’ or ‘by hell’.
In which case, by the way, I would also tend to agree with @Winter-Rose.

Hellooooo @NatalieMarie! Welcome! You will not regret joining; this place is truly amazing.
I’m Kate, by the way. *sticks out hand* In case you can’t tell by my profile pic, I’m a dragon. But don’t worry. I don’t breathe fire (often) and I keep my claws trimmed. How else can I type? 😛
*ahem* Yes. We’re a tad crazy here. 😉 What are some of your…[Read more] -

This topic never gets old.
Great points, @Christi-Eaton and @Winter-Rose and @Daeus. I tend to agree with all that has been said so far, but I think I also tend to take a more cautious view of it. Language doesn’t bother me in a book so long as it’s not all over the place. I can block it. But there are those who can’t. And for the sake of those…[Read more] -

Ha. It’s okay. They probably won’t come anywhere near us anyway. 😛
Hm, yes… *strokes chin* Okay. Cool. I’m not going totally from scratch— I’m rewriting Victorious so I’m working with existing material, but that’ll be helpful to keep in mind. It’ll probably end up more like a list of chronological notes, as you said, but I guess we’ll see…[Read more]

Oh! Okay. Awesome.
…guess what? I’m going to be outlining my next project on Friday! Going hunting with my dad, and I’m going to take a notebook (or two 😛 ) and a pen and see how much I can get done just sitting in a blind all day. XD
How in depth do you usually outline?

@Leumeister welllll… should I say it?
*thinks*
No, better not. Think of an unrelated example.
*thinks again*
No…
Yes…
No…I’m gonna say it. 😛 I actually already had a story idea with this thematic premise. The hero and the villain both have the same goal— accomplishing world peace and ending all wars. The hero doesn’t know exactly how…[Read more]
