@Sarah-H it’s a Dickens— about the youngest daughter of a debtor’s family who has to work to help her father pay his way out of debtor’s prison. Love story, but so much more— it’s about family, and sincerity, and courage and determination and self-sacrifice— it’s one of my all time favorites. Definitely recommend it.
As with all Dickens,…[Read more] -

@R-E-P ah yes, thank you. I’m not sure what was going on with the first one; it’s working now. *headscratch* Oh well.
I did enjoy this story— loved the humor, and I also really love the way you incorporated the Leviathan passage. That’s one of my favorite passages, btw. 😉
The biggest problem I noticed was quite a bit of telling, versus…[Read more]

@Michael-Stanton I haven’t, but that’s just because I’m a technological dinosaur and don’t have an account on any of those social media sites myself. 😛 I’m going to be getting Facebook at least, as I understand it’s crucial to marketing, but right now I’m still happily hermiting with just this forum and my mom’s email. 😉

@Daeus that’s wonderful.
Well… the only input I could offer is, just explain how books are supposed to mirror reality because reality is truth, and in the long run ‘… the truth shall make you free.’ That probably goes without saying, so I don’t know how helpful that’ll be, but I hope it is, anyhow.

@Daeus yes. Once you get through this (and you will, make no mistake) your relationship will be much stronger and built on better understanding.
Still praying.

@Daeus yes. I’m praying.
I think the thing with bits like that is that it can come as a real shock to people who haven’t thought through the necessity of darkness in literature. They may not disagree once they think through it, but (especially for moms) the shock of hearing it without preparation can throw them into turmoil pretty harshly.

@Sarah-H yes, I loved that one! So heartwrenching… which probably explains why I loved it. 😛
Let’s see… I also really like Master and Commander, Horatio Hornblower, Little Dorrit, and Pirates of the Caribbean 1. I like the other Pirates movies as well, but none so well as the first.

@Brandon-Miller ha, yep. Emma and I are sisters, and for the record *squares shoulders* I’m older than she is… most people don’t know that… because she’s taller… XD XD XD
Yes, only two dragons as far as I know. 😀
No @Bluejay. I’m fine.

*rushes in late, crashes into chair and catches breath* Well, seems like you’ve already been sufficiently welcomed @Brandon-Miller, but I guess one more won’t hurt. So— welcome to the bestestist place on the internet. Yes. I know you’ve already been introduced to the word. 😀

@Michael-Stanton now that you mention it, I thought of something that would help a technological dinosaur like me find their way around the forum more easily. In the first days of the forum, there used to be a little sidebar on the bottom right with all the newly replied-to topics listed. Something like that would save a lot of time digging…[Read more]

@Rolena-Hatfield this is really some great stuff here— love the very subtle yet distinct tone of the story. The one thing I noticed that no one else pointed out is that you tend to use this sentence structure a lot: ‘Doing something, he something somethingly…[Read more] - Load More
