Okay, I’m cracking up. Poor siblings indeed. 🙂
Hope you figure out something! I mean, I live in a neighborhood with 100 houses, and I still can’t find willing actors most times…

Hi Elisabeth! Nice to meet you. 🙂

Well, hello! I have two sisters adopted from China. Cool that you had your own restaurant.
And I’ve run out of things to reply to, because I’ve never read LotR or the Wormling series, and I haven’t watched Doctor Who or Star Wars. 🙂

But I suppose I should probably add something helpful.
Be patient. Don’t get frustrated when you have to redo a scene for the tenth time. Or at least, don’t take it out on them. Make it fun. Joke around a bit, laugh at yourself, and just in general try to keep the peace. 🙂
As for those too shy to make a fool out of themselves…well, almost all…[Read more]

So you mean it wasn’t just me who tried to coerce little siblings into acting in my “movies”? ;P

Amanda Fischer replied to the topic Doing NaNoWriMo with 3rd-5th graders…any advice? in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 6 months ago
Also, I should mention that I’ve had them work through two plot building worksheets from the NaNoWriMo YWP elementary school workbooks. So I don’t know that there’s much more to be done on the plotting side, although if anyone has any suggestions for that, feel free to give them!

Hi everyone!
I’m afraid it’s been a while since I’ve popped my head in here. I’ve just started a job, so it’s been a crazy few weeks. But I’ve got a question for y’all.
I’m teaching a writing class to four 3rd-5th graders at my homeschool co-op this year, and we’re planning on doing NaNo. The thing is…I’m kind of running out of ideas of what…[Read more]

Jumping in here…might I suggest this wonderful work of awesomeness created by a writer acquaintance of mine? Since I apparently can’t post links, I’ll try this way. soundfuel(dot)blogspot(dot)com. 🙂
I personally like Celtic instrumental music and some of the more energetic classical music for most of my writing, but sometimes I do need a good…[Read more]

Well hey, hey. Tomatoes go with tacos. It’s really quite simple, you see.

Kate, I’m laughing but I’m also impressed. Nice imagination. And cool that it’s actually like Daeus’ character.
I think it’s a cool name, although I don’t know if it would be quite right for a title. Guess it depends. But if the character is mostly like Kate described, I would be interested in reading about him. 🙂

Daeus, I’ve never read that Booker T. Washington book, but I did read a biography about him as a kid. Well, sort of. It was historical fiction. Ever heard of the Trailblazer series by Dave and Neta Jackson? Those were some of my favorite books as a kid. And your great-grandfather’s story sounds really cool! I would absolutely read it if you turned…[Read more]

Eh, it hasn’t been very long, Mark. I know Daniel was heading this venture up and he hasn’t been on since I posted it. It’s fine. I can be patient. 😉

HOORAY! Success!
Lesson learned: Don’t post links, guys. It’s probably gonna send the post to a spam box.

Maybe it’s the link that’s messing this up. So I’m going to try it this way.
Rachel: Hooked bowing = slurs only with split-second stops in between notes. You’ve probably done them before. 🙂 The Ukrainian touch typing thing…well, it was just a website I found while looking for an alphabet chart. I think it’s typingstudy(dot)com. They have lots…[Read more]

See, the weird thing is, mine were inside our screen cage. (That’s a “thing” in Florida) And somehow bugs still get through sometimes. I think we must’ve had tomato worms for a while, but I got rid of them all and the new tomatoes still got messed up. Sadness. I love tomatoes. As I kid I used to eat them whole like apples. Hehe…
How did this…[Read more]

Biographies, in my opinion, are a tricky thing to get right. They have to be factual, obviously, but I think to be effective they also have to read like a story. I grew up reading tons of missionary biographies both short and long, and they definitely had an impact on my life. As for my favorite…I’d have to say God’s Smuggler. But if I can list…[Read more]
