@Jenwriter17 I haven’t actually read any of those books, but I looked them up and read friends’ reviews to get an idea.
Defier – I’ve checked with a friend who read this and it’s perfectly clean content-wise.
Swipe – Several friends have enjoyed it and didn’t mention anything about bad content
Last Light – Also clean, by report of trustworthy…[Read more]

@ClaireC ooh yes yes I’m hoping to get there, but the timing is not ideal with other things I have on, so we’ll have to see. 😛

@Daeus it looks pretty good! My only thing would be that in the sections that you have images (the ‘contents’ and ‘are you serious about your writing’ headers) it would look better if the images would automatically fit to the length of the screen. For example, I have quite a wide computer screen so there’s about an inch of a gap between the edges…[Read more]

@Catwing I 10000% second the suggestion to check out Katie Grace’s blog. She’s an epic person, and her posts are always amazing. <3 <3
I would suggest starting off with just one post a week. I usually do two, but it does take a lot of commitment to get out two posts every week. Start small and build up. 😛

@Jenwriter17 as Princess said, some of the elements are fairly generic with the dystopian genre. Evil government and Outcasts are common features, BUT that doesn’t mean you can’t use it. I definitely say you can still do this well if you have your own aspect and take on the situation and use your own style to make the story unique and different.

@livgiordano As the others have said, basically you have to change the full character arc into a tiny little three-scene structure. That condenses it down to a small space, but still has the general idea. For example:
– Goldilocks wants eats the porridge because she doesn’t think taking someone else’s stuff is bad
– The bears come back and chase…[Read more] -

You know you’re a bookworm when new bookshelves is the bestest thing ever and you spend hours and hours trying to work out how to rearrange the books. xP

@jenwriter17 aw really? I don’t remember Counted Worthy having any bad content (particularly in comparison to the Hunger Games and other similar books). Oh well, that’s fine.
Ooh, I hope you enjoy A Time to Die!! 😛

@Jenwriter17 Alrighty, book recommendations coming your way. 😛
– The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins)
– Divergent (Veronica Roth)These trilogies are both fairly well known. They’re not favourites of mine, and some of the content is a bit iffy, but they’re good for researching the genre.
– Out of Time (Nadine Brandes)
– The Lunar Chronicles…[Read more] -

I’m happy saying that I live in Australia, rural NSW because there is a lot of rural NSW so the chances of anyone tracking me down is quite slim.
Oh my word. XD True though. No one is going to scour all of rural NSW for you. XP

@Jenwriter17 I basically second everything that Audrey said.
Getting people to read and know you and your blog is simply a three step matter. (‘simply’ but not ‘simple’ XD)
1) Spend time on other blogs with similar content and styles to yours. Comment regularly, maybe guest post, just be present in the blogger community so that people know y…[Read more]

@Jenwriter17 As someone who writes and reads dystopian quite frequently, I think the main biggest cliche is “MC is a teen who leads a rebellion against the evil government and wins”
As Josiah said, I 10000% recommend reading into some of the good-ol’ dystopian novels like Fahrenheit 451 and the others he mentioned. Along with other more recent…[Read more]

Ooh favourite characters? Hmm…Cody was pretty funny. Mizzy was good. Tia was pretty cool. David was also good (and his metaphors/similes are the most genius things ever XD)….I don’t know if I can pick.
