@warrioroftherealm My favorite genre is the singer/songwriter genre. Google it, listen to a few (or a lot of) artists, and you’ll find a prevailing style but with different cross overs (usually with pop). However, the overall sound doesn’t normally have a lot of instruments. Sometimes just a guitar and a singer. The thing that ties this genre…[Read more]

@warrioroftherealm Actually I don’t mean repetition in that way. I’m talking about repetition of theme. Take this:
verse 1: God is good
verse 2: God is all powerful
verse 3: God is justBoring!
Although, it’s true it’s still super boring.

@warrioroftherealm Ah, you shouldn’t ask me that question. Any time I’m in my room, or I have my computer out, I’m listening to music.
@anne-of-lothlorien I don’t think that the Warrior’s new… He’s been here for longer than I have.
Here’s me keeping it as simple as possible–
My favorite genres are Worship and Epic. So sorry, Warrior, but I’m…[Read more] -

So this is a fun game my brother and I play a lot at home. One person says a random line from a movie or book and another person has to ‘quote it’ or give the source of the quote. The person who gets it right gets to do their own. So here’s the first one.
“I would never have dreamt of depriving you of your moment of triumph. Alas, a moment was…[Read more]

@kate-flournoy This is kind of like, really cool to be on at the same time as someone else. It’s like I’m having a real conversation.
Everyone else, is there anyone in your family that you have based a character off of? My only one would be my cousin’s cousin, Hans, who is 15. He’s a guy who would try and jump a fence to see if he could and end…[Read more]

@WarrioroftheRealm hm… my favorite genre of music is probably traditional Celtic/Scottish/Nordic, though it’s really hard to find genuinely beautiful arrangements of traditional tunes.
And… I don’t have a favorite band. I just dig through stuff and find things I like the sound of. 😛 -

@warrioroftherealm You didn’t tag me. I feel so left out. Are you new here? I don’t think I’ve seen you before? Check out the Mind of a Writer Thread. Crazy Awesomeness. And madness. Insanity.
I just wrote my second song, “I wrote this thread’ And all I can say is don’t read it to yourself like a poem because songs have different meters and…[Read more]

@WarrioroftheRealm Got it.
And I agree hugely with you and @Mark-Kamibaya about repetition in songs!!Have you heard the musical ‘group’ (not sure if that works, ’cause it’s mainly two people) Secret Garden? They’ve got some weird ones, but some of their’s are gorgeous. It’s a Norwegian composer and pianist (Rolf Loveland) and an Irish violinist…[Read more]

@warrioroftherealm Happy Thanksgiving to you too! A pet peeve on songwriting crossed my mind a couple days ago. Songs recently have been just so boring. I attribute that to the second and/or third verses. They don’t build on the foundation of the first verse. Because (even though a song may or may not be a story) it has to progress forward in the…[Read more]

@warrioroftherealm, no problem. Hope it helps.
Also just thought of something else. Be sure to find some kind of music theory book you can work through if you have not done so already. That is going to be the equivalent to studying grammar and punctuation in becoming a better writer.
Also (I use that word too much), you will want to think…[Read more]

@kate-flournoy Very true. I didn’t know the helmet thing. (for lack of better words right now :p)
This is a royal joust because I did wish it to be much more organized and less “rough”. Thank you!@warrioroftherealm @daeus Do you know anything about flail weapons in a joust setting?

Thank you! My dad took me to a Renaissance fair a long time ago and I’m pulling some inspiration from that as well as blogs and historical sites online.
I appreciate the help! -

The XXAA rhyme scheme uses the X because it doesn’t rhyme with anything. If you use a letter like A or B or C or whatever then that is binding you to rhyme it later on. If you use an X then it won’t rhyme with anything.
If you have any more questions then just go ahead and ask. I’ll be glad to give my two cents worth.

Yeah, @warrioroftherealm. You got it. But The AABB and ABAB rhyme schemes are a little too common in my eyes. That’s why I prefer the ABAA, ABBA, AABA, XXAA, and stuff like that.
The link attached to the sentence is a chart of close rhymes. That’s why it’s so important. The plosives, fricatives, and nasals are all sounds that sound similar. So,…[Read more]
